Great video. Maybe it’s different for the 2021 890 in that if you want to save (Service mileage) the last step is to press and hold SET for five seconds. That will clear your service light and hold the mileage that you want for your next service interval.
Thank you for the information about the reset. For the Germans: Es ist der Menüpunkt Optionen, speichern wie unten beschrieben über Set lange drücken, bis das Menü verschwindet
Great video. Just recently I noticed that I cannot adjust the service mileage any longer (7/10/22) on my 790 Adventure R. The last time it was in the shop they did a download. Do you know if they (KTM) changed the procedure to adjust the mileage and turn off the service light? Suggestions?
Derp as far as I know, they reset the exact same way. They don’t plug into the bike or anything differently. In the states there is no requirement that the dealer does the change, but I am not sure about elsewhere. BMW and KTM will both just ask for some kind of evidence that you did the change (oil purchase receipt etc).
In North America you wont lose it if you do it, but you have to show proof that you bought oil etc, so you keep receipts. Does ktm in germany say that, or just one of the dealers?
Incredible, I visited an official KTM store yesterday. Spoke with the service staff and they said there was no way for me to reset the service light, they were adamemt I had to bring it in and connect to 'their systems' to do a service light reset. They were also adamemt that they would need to service the bike if resetting the light otherwise their neck is on the line if let's say... The oil bung came loose.
Yeah I’m not sure if this is still the same on the current model, but I’d imagine it is. It’s funny I had a similar story with my Toyota Supra. My ECU is unlocked and the dealer here said they couldn’t reset my service light without flashing/ re locking my ecu. So I just left the light on for weeks before looking for a video on resetting the light. Of course this was done without any interaction with the ecu. I reset it in about 30 seconds 🤷🏼♂️
Hey Paul, believe it or not, I have only had the bike for about 2 weeks now. I have added a Mosko Moto Reckless 80 set up, as well as a pico tank bag. I will be adding a pipe eventually and some bark busters. From there, I will just fix parts as they break.
@@paulcrawford6419 I actually like the set up as is. I may do different pegs, but I think there is a way to flip the rear brake lever for more offroad use as well. I thought it was spaced just fine with my current alpinestars boots.
is this bike good and comfy for 2 ppl? i just saw only videos of this bike going offroad, but i need a capable all around tourer bike for 2 ppl, 50-50 road - gravel.
Bike is great for 2 up. I have done a lot of it, and my friend in Africa has ridden all over on and off road with a passenger. Everyone has been happy and plenty of pep. The flat seat helps a lot too.
Hey Trevor, very true. You do pull one of the three bolts on that plate regardless, so I just took the other bolts out and pulled the plates to have full access. If you didn't have the time or space, you could definitely do the change by only removing the low bolt on each side of the covers along with the bash plate.
@Mohameat tic toc Kaboom sadly for you I am not gay but don't despair you'll find someone to love you ... ride embraced together on the orange bike ...
@Mohameat tic toc Kaboom told you you'll find someone to thumb up your stuff .... be patient ... the orange bike gay attraction will work eventually ...

I ended up finding this last step on a different video. Wish I would have read your comment here!
thanks you soo much for that comment I was wondering how to finish the sequence !
This was more helpful then manual, thanks for the reset info guys.
Thank you, I know it is a couple of years old now so I am glad it is still relevant.
Good job Brent! I'm about to start the oil change on my 790. Glad to know you've made it home from the Mosko Moto adventure!
Thank you! I am sure you will have your oil changed in seconds! Keep an eye on that rear leak. I still think its your chain lube ;)

I'm not sure on that. I could see them locking that stuff so you have to pay a dealer, but I sure hope not!
How do you get rid of the triangle warning ⚠️? I reset the interval but the triangle ⚠️ still stays on. 🤔
Can KTM check whether you reset the service yourself?
Because in Germany we lose warranty if we dont let the dealer do the service

I took a file to the filler cap and shaved it down so it goes on easier.
Smart!
Thanks for the video. keep them coming. What additions have you put on the bike?

@@turtlefactory Thanks. Did you add larger footpads and rear brake lever?

I just did My oil change on Mine is a 2020 , follow your instruction on how to reset service and did not work. Is it different on the 2020 models ?
I only know on the 2019. It should be the same though.
Once you get it to the interval you want you need to press and hold the set button for about 3 seconds. The light will then clear
I have buy a used one thanks for yot Tips and tricks 👍 Just habe Wonder how to get Out the oil Cap 😂 Just with a little more force

Thank you again!!
My pleasure!
I removed the bash plate without detaching the plastic protection. The whole thing will just drop away.

You did it the hard way @basementgp
What brand of center stand did you go with??
I actually don't have a center stand. I have a lift in my garage and on the trail I usually find myself a good tree stump or a rock when needed.
I would say is worth to change oil more often...
Can i do this for the first service at 1000kms? Or are there more stuf to do ?
This should be the same service.
7:04 mark.....text says 3 Quarts, you say 3 liters. While close, they aren't the exact same.
Yep, 3 quarts.
Wow
Why is there 2 drain plugs?
I suppose that there are two because it gives them two different locations for filtration and faster draining.
maaan... good video, but change the "music" please, it´s a bit enoying :D
yeah its always a bit difficult finding music to use on a youtube channel without getting the account dinged.
Your bolt is risky in case of a crash. A flat screw is safer
