    Got hooked on the Brothers Johnson in the summer of 76' when I heard their smash hit "I'll be good to you" on the car radio while traveling on vacation with some friends.

    The 2bnd eq Music Man Sting Ray bass has and unmistakable growl that's all in it's own. It's a night and day difference than the 3bnd eq Sting Ray. I'm just here listening to " We supply " ( off the Rocks, Pebbles and Sand lp ) anf Louis's tone is just freaking crushing.......Damn

    • @thebionicbassplayer
      @thebionicbassplayer 9 лет назад +1

      Good call! Louis Stingrays were custom built by Leo Fender, so they were all so powerful Louis stated they would be too expensive to build for the average musician.

      the 3 band sucks. it has a high pass filter that filters out too much tone

  • @BeansMaskSheen

    holy crap this is sick quality! perfect SBD up until Strawberry Letter than the quality goes MONO and whiny until after the second bass solo which cuts. Then the perfect quality returns for the rest.

    I'm happy to hear this. It's good to hear the same artists at different points. I've listened to the radio show from the Netherlands and watched the show from the Capitol Theater. Those other two shows are very strong. On this one, though, then group sounds TIRED. The energy starts decently, but I think it drops after "Right On Time." It starts to come back on "The Real THing" and the finish strongly. Obviously, this is probably the latest of the three shows, so that could explain the fatigue. Louis's bass licks are off in some places (particularly "Ain't We Funkin' Now").THere's probably some personnel changes, too. I hear a few more female voices and different drumming, but I could be wrong. Anyway. it's still great to hear.

    A lillywhite prog bassist with a Rickenbacker can in no way hope to obtain the HNL of the funk perpetrated by L.J. on a Stingray. But a boy can dream. Sha-Kah!
