BIG UPS to LIL COCO from the movie Breakin. RIP to LIL TUFFS from the Unique Dominos, you can see both of them in the GAP BAND Video “Party Train”. Thank you all , you will for be for ever my little heroes! The Baddest Little ones! EVER.
Brunson was a cold-a-- bass player and killed the double thump, but Louis Johnson (Brothers Johnson) was doing it in the 70's! Check out Stomp! @ 2:40...
It's fun and unusual to see a video centred around a bass player doing his thang rather than a 6-string guitarist (Slash in a desert in front of a church anyone). And this on a bass guitar driven instrumental... that had a music video and MTV play! Times change but not always for the better....
God I used to love this album. I found my original vinyl in my storage unit this morning. Wish I could play it but that is what You Tube is for. I took a pic of the album cover but can’t post it here... thank you for this upload!
Man I've been try the remember the name of this song for years to much weed smoke in the 80s that bass line been running through my head for years now I got it locked in
'Cause that's the name of the groove, and this is some "FLY" 'ISH! This is a CLASSIC and must have jam in any real "HIP HOP" afficionado's collection! PEEESE!
Proof that double thumbing on bass guitar was being used long before cats like Victor Wooten made it all the rage. Tyrone Brunson was an underrated musician...
The skratches were actually done in studio by a guy named Elai Tubo.....look at the credits on old 80s NY hip-hop 12" singles & you'll see his name on lots of em
Yep I always looked on the label to see who was scratching. He was on another joint can't remember what it was he and Scratch On Galaxy did a lotta scratchin on trax…
I always wondered if there are some videos of Tyrone playing bass around. His technique is so unique, even today i've not heard anyone nailing his basslines.
I used to work with this dude at the Chubb Institute in Falls Church, VA. He was a technology instructor and we had adjacent offices. I remembered he was sort of a grumpy character, not exactly the most friendliest person in the world although "Sticky Situation" and "The Smurf" were some party favs.
my great aunt and Ice T's mother were friends back in New York back in the day. I remember she asked me if I heard of him- i think I told her yes, but i really did not.
I was about to Google Elai Tubo to see if that was him behind the wheels near the end it looked like Ice I was like whoa. Ice been around tho he's a dinosaur
RIP Tyrone Brunson- your entry into the early stages of Hip Hop will never go unnoticed-not as long as my fingers still spin wax!!!

Ladies and gentlemen: the '80s in a nutshell. Goddamn, what a batshit fun video this is.
You are so right, guitarpick2002....fresh, fun and funky....before hip-hop lost its mind about 1990.

Your all wrong it is actually Elai Tubo who did the cuts. Ice T is just in the video. othersounds.com/interview-elai-tubo/

Is it just me, or does Ice-T's head seem to big for his body? I can't believe that's him. What a strange time in music history.
That is Ice T LOL
two questions, please: if the little kid dancing is the Hot Tot from Breaking 1 & 2, and, who plays the video jockey?...
Yes, that's the same kid from Breakin' 1 & 2. The DJ in this video is Tracy Marrow aka Ice-T.
People don’t know how HipHop Ice T really is !
