    Tyrone Brunson - 1st bassplayer i know of to doublethumb! 30 years later and I still can't play it just right...lol!

    • @chrismarlow8600
      @chrismarlow8600 4 года назад +4

      Brunson was a cold-a-- bass player and killed the double thump, but Louis Johnson (Brothers Johnson) was doing it in the 70's! Check out Stomp! @ 2:40...

    • @matthewgeeblountjr8992
      @matthewgeeblountjr8992 4 года назад +1

      @@chrismarlow8600 I always thought that was overdubbing on Stomp though...

    It's fun and unusual to see a video centred around a bass player doing his thang rather than a 6-string guitarist (Slash in a desert in front of a church anyone).
    And this on a bass guitar driven instrumental... that had a music video and MTV play! Times change but not always for the better....

    The skratches were actually done in studio by a guy named Elai Tubo.....look at the credits on old 80s NY hip-hop 12" singles & you'll see his name on lots of em

    I used to work with this dude at the Chubb Institute in Falls Church, VA. He was a technology instructor and we had adjacent offices. I remembered he was sort of a grumpy character, not exactly the most friendliest person in the world although "Sticky Situation" and "The Smurf" were some party favs.
