I left a club and bunch of young girls parked next to me with their music thinking they got it going on. I got in my car, put in Mirda Rock, pumped it up and then dropped the top on the part the computer said "YYYYEAAAAHHHHH!" They shut their crap off, their mouths open, saying nothing, and all they saw after that was the back of my convertible and the license plate.... Good ol skool music can still turn heads and shut down the new crap...
OMG...I am a truck driver and in the midst of listening to old school hip hop this song started running a marathon in my head. It took me 12 hours EXACTLY to remember the name. Thank you for making me smile today. It means more than you know.. 👏🏿🤗🤗🤗
I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS PARTICULAR SONG SINCE I GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL IN 1984!!!!!!! THANKS TO POSTING!!!! I'M 17 AGAIN DOING THE SMURF TO THIS SONG AT TEEN WORLD IN FAYETTEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA!!!!😄
for those that care.. 1982 was the year..as I went over seas in the Service... great techno tune..and check out arcade funk...another classic...take care youtube family
Massive hit when it dropped, even my homeboys who were rock fans, Zep, Floyd, Stones, Beatles etc...were impressed by the production on this cut, many of them look to this jam that started listening to freestyle, electro & funk....incredible production
You can hear how this influenced Unknown DJ. The pad at 00:51 (808 Beats) as well as sampling "I am a computer" on the X-Men project with DJ Slip. The other ideas from back then came from Kraftwerk and Egyptian Lover.
This song reminds me of this 79 T-bird, dark green, with wire TruSpoke rims, limo tint, and a boomerang antenna and a booming system, back in the early 80s... It was bumping this song. What a sinister looking car.
OMG, I've been looking for this song since the internet was invented.. Reminds me of dorm days in 1983. Thank you so much!! (its hard when you didn't think that it was spelled Mirda - lol)

Takes me back to 1984 in New Zealand we named our Breakdance crew Mirda Rockers cuz of this jam. The look on my moms face when she seen the word Mirda telling me that’s not how u spell “Murder” haha
If you have the blessing of living in South L.A. in the late 70s early 80s, even with all the problems in the hood, the blessing was having a front row seat to music like this. Not knowing the existence of KDAY is almost like not knowing who Michael Jackson or Luke Skywalker are.
The Mack Attack ruled the airwaves all across LA, COMPTON(HOMETOWN),CARSON, GARDENA, LONG BEACH, LYNWOOD PARAMOUNT, LAKEWOOD, BELLFLOWER, and ALL other points in between. Was blessed to have experienced it.
I remember 1983 my boy Dub bumped this on vinlye through 2 5×5 PEAVY concert speakers in a 1 bedroom apt! You could feel the walls shaking! True Story!
Griff is from Nap (Indianapolis) my home town and used to play with the Isley Brothers...Griffin Brothers very talented...their band, Manchild, helped Babyface get started
Oh MAN! The Palladium was the BOMB! 2 DJs on 4 Turntables! ooh whee!!!! I played football for CCSF and came from out of town. I was all bummed about being in San Francisco in 1986. Shows you how much teenagers know! The Bay is the BOMB!

I went to Groove Records (in Soho) the very next day and bought it. It's still sitting in my record collection! Top tunage. Thanks for posting!
Yeah, I rememer the Palladium, they played Al-Nayyafish - Its Time, and Planet Rock, Kraftwerk, all that.... on thursdays they had Quake Night KQAK, with the rock of the 80s... I remember all that...and on Emeryville side, Silks for you real ol skool people
Lordy, lordy. Remember this when I was a lifeguard at central pool in Reading. Got told off for moonwalking and rocking it on the poolside by the duty manager man..screw dem😁
Griff is from Nap (Indianapolis) my home town and used to play with the Isley Brothers...Griffin Brothers very talented...their band, Manchild, helped Babyface get started
He actually didn't produce it. Arif Mardin produced it. But he did the arrangement & played most of the instruments & got nominated for Grammy for the work which was very cool...And he also played a part in Melle Mel being on the record too from working with him & flash at Sugarhill How do I know? Because he did all the pre-production at my house in Englewood NJ in my basement because he lived with me & my family as a tenant but he was really part of the family during those years...
This track is amazing, I like the instrumental best though. So minimal but the changes make it tell a story... I picked up a copy on 12" from ebay for £1. Happy days :)
