I once played "Anzio". It seemed to take ages to finish the game, due in no small part to my rather dubious play as the Allies. I remember seeing a German propaganda poster in which a snail was very slowly crawling up the "leg" of Italy. Be prepared for likewise in "No Retreat" i suspect. Great video as always Joe.
Finito Benito! Solid (and equally infamous) unboxing, Joe. I recently picked up the Russian and African Front versions (GMT editions) and am just getting the former to table. Love the Leader options available in this particular one; the components, unsurprisingly, are top notch like it's predecessors. Great to hear you're going to do a play example, too. Oh, and... Viva Pancaldi. :)
Just acquired AH's Anzio... what a large unit and complicated map structure! The rumor was that the original AH game was complicated... guess we'll see... have you played Anzio?
I've read to many negative comments about the No Retreat Series, with so many other great games out their I think I'll pass. But I will say like a lot of GMT games it is beautiful to look at but that's as far as my interest goes with it. Just an FYI, the Sound seems a little off to me(low sound, mic to far away?), still thanks for doing this Joe it is much appreciated.
+E Bur I have all games in the series. I have to admit that I tried to play the Eastern Front game and found it hard because, in part, of the few pieces on the board. I'm used to Eastern Front games with lots of units. I haven't tried the North African game. I think that the counter density for the Italian game seems ok. The units are the same scale of Avalon Hil''s Anzio. Let's see. I'm about to begin filming the video.
good video - but during the battle of Mont Cassino it was the polish yes, but the French Army TOO with the success of the French overflow maneuver in the south during the third and fourth battles from Monte Cassino with the bold plans of General JUIN, who managed to impose his views on the Anglo-American staff - I think this should be underlined, if only to pay homage to the goumiers of General Guillaume, without whom Mont Cassin would not have been taken ! you, the Anglo-Saxons, you systematically mistreat France and the French army, to the point of forgetting our feats of arms and falsifying history - as a Frenchman I find that it is unbearable.

Thanks, Bobby. Hope you like the playthrough.

If the event cards are simply adding randomness can they just be ignored if playing solo?
I hesitated to get this because No Retreat : North Africa just has me completely confused.
