    Great review Stefan! It's incredibly useful to hear your real world experiences and to see the real world videos. I had given up on a roof light after the first (and only one) I tried lit the bonnet and dashboard up like daylight! It was a Stedi ST2K curved mounted right inline with the top of the front window. Despite a grey car and black dash carpet there was way too much light in the cabin. I now run a ST3303Pro double row 23" bar mounted in front of the grill and it works very well. I especially like the wide throw which I think is much more important in the real world than being able to project 1 lux at 2kms. However the ST3303Pro's 5,700K temperature is a bit harsh and while Stedi doesn't publish a CRI for this light, I suspect it is not at the high end of the range. Stedi's newest lights - the ST-X and Type-X are 5,000K and while the Linear 36 Elite is 3 times the price of the Stedi ST-X 40.5", the Linear Elite has a much wider throw and probably three times the light. You get what you pay for. Looking forward to the next review!

    Great demo. The colour temp was probably 4800K that is why they look so nice and glare free. Fyi, truckers claim that the lower colour temp lights are better for spotting western grey roos.😊

    I have a Great White lightbar on my 200 and 3x HTX2 on the bullbar. Tbh i hardly use the spotlights as the colour temp and width of the lightbar is easier on the eyes and sufficient for highway and offroad. I also have some lighforce 6 inch led bars off at angles on the bbar and they are verry handy on tight tracks on and offroad. I am looking for something for my GU and have a similar bar to yours so am running no spots at this stage. Will have a look at this light bar for sure

    Im running one linear 18 Elite in my grill underneath the nissan (navara) emblem and camera and two linear 18 elite i-lba stacked on top of each other in the bumper under the licensplate holder. In Sweden during Autum and winter is wet and dark most of those times and the ashfalt/tarmac roads doesent reflect light at all. Im very very Pleased with my set up and they are almost not even visible to the eye due to their stealth location. Now im looking at a linear 36 elite between the roof rails for the just because i love lazers products and the looks.

    Hi Stefan,
    How would you compare these to the stedi st3303. Thanks for the informative vid

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  Год назад +1

      I haven't tested Stedi St3300 but while good value for money Stedi and the likes can not compare to Lazer regarding light distribution and colour. Stedi a Chinese mass produced lights Lazer has their own research and manufacturing in the UK

    • @4x4smile
      @4x4smile Год назад

      Run the st3303 and cannot say in words how great this bar is. Certainly no need for any other lighting side or length. I drove Adelaide to Sydney and back over a weekend. No joke the guy with me said wow everytime it went on. Why did I go stedi? At that stage they were one of the only light produces using the latest generation cree's. Cree is a high end led producer kind of the leaders world wide for led chip production. If you are looking at lights first look at the generation of cree if they use them, its the source of the light so pretty damn critical. Hope that helps.

      @@4x4smile how was it on the eyes? I have the spot lights and find it strains them after a while

    • @4x4smile
      @4x4smile Год назад +1

      @@daniel-ll5zr no straining at all. I have roof mounted the bar so no hot spots on the road. In this vid the bull bar mounted spots creat a hot spot on the road ahead where as the laser roof mount seems to be similar to the stedi with no hot spots just an overall everything in front illuminated feel. Looking at the vid I think the stedi seems to be a bit wider if that makes sense. With the stedi to be fair it is a double row so if you ran a single row it may be similar to the laser. I like the low profile of the laser and I do get minor wind noise at 110 from the stedi, since it is right above me head but to be honest it is very minimal. I think with your spotties you are probably getting the hot spots as opposed to everything infront lit up with a daylight type light. Would I spend 1100 on it again? Without question! It just simplifies lighting with one solution that seems to do everything well sides and length.

    Very nice vid and explanation.
    1400 k AUD is a number…. I could imagine further commences.. in my book: it buys safety! Period.
    Need to buy a roof rack first !!
    The see if it would fit under the ARB roofrack with the low profile .
    Safe driving… heading to MUC today

  • @LimestoneCoastCustoms
    @LimestoneCoastCustoms 11 месяцев назад

    Nope! I will NEVER use a roof mounted light bar ever again!! (even after moving a light bar rearwards to avoid bonnet reflections & painting the bonnet flat black!) If I could stop the reflections off my antennas (especially my HF auto tune) & yes, I also tried painting everything else flat black too, it just didn't help!! I did however love the height & spread of light, my light bar achieved. The one thing I have realised over the years is the colour of the LED's makes a huge difference. Too much white light actually blokes out the brown colours of animals like kangaroos (ask me how I know! 🙄) so I have found the cooler lights are much better at picking up the wildlife, that's for sure.

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  11 месяцев назад

      I hear you and thats the way I thought but antenna reflection are negligible now (at least in my book) and the great spread and light output change my mind now.

  • @defendermodsandtravels

    Could someone please explain the purpose of a light bar. The golden rule is not to drive off road after dark, and they are unnecessary on regular roads. They aren't on my list.

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  Год назад +3

      not realistic we often have to drive in the dark for various reasons. On empty outback roads good lights at night a vital to minimise chance of animal collisions and recognise driving hazards. Stock lights especially of an older vehicle are definitely not sufficient. It's really about safety.

    • @defendermodsandtravels
      @defendermodsandtravels Год назад

      @@AlloffroadAu OK. The only time I nearly lost my vehicle was driving off road at night (in Spain). If it gets dark and I haven't reached my destination I just pull over. I can see that if you really have to drive off road after dark a light bar would be an asset.

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  Год назад +2

      We're often out in remote areas for weeks at a time. Especially in winter, when the days are shorter, we might be driving until 5 or 6 in the evening. There have been times we've had to drive at night due to floods, storms, or even medical emergencies. So, having good lights is essential for me. As I've gotten older, I've noticed I need even better lighting. I've clocked in countless hours driving at night, and with the right lights and safe driving, we've always been alright.

    • @4x4smile
      @4x4smile 11 месяцев назад

      Light bars are often mounted on roof racks, this minimises the reflection on the road allowing your pupils to not close up due to close up glare. The lack of glare with the right high up light bar results in pupils dyalating giving even greater viewing of potential animals up ahead on the side of the road. In aus the most problematic time for roos is at dusk. If you time your stop right at duck them you can push on for another 4hrs no probs with the right lighting since the right light bar can turn night into almost day. I thinkthe key is to minimise close up road glare and no lighting up of the bonnet etc, anything that reflects back ay you when its on. I'm 52 and after having a stedi 3303 I'd never go back to factory lights, my disco 4 lights are shocking 55watrs each, gives around 100m as opposed to 1km with a light bar. Towing 3500kg I look at it as a no brainier.
