The catch phrase is “Off you go”. Duh 😅
This episode cracked me up so hard 😂😂 Pedro … ffs what would we do without you! We would be lost… thank you for all you do!
When I started CrossFit, we would have CrossFit documentary watch parties. Now, most members don’t even know it’s a sport.
So true!
This was a great show, awesome banter between you, Jake and Brandon.
Garret … you’re the Best… 🎉
Q1 is interesting. I would agree it doesn't need to be the same. But if the stimuli are different then the totality needs to be reassessed to ensure the totality is still balanced
First question, depends on what they’re trying to test. The rope climb workout was probably seen as a gymnastics test and for the men it wasn’t. As a gym programmer for many years, you’re always trying to match the stimulus for men and women. If it’s a 10 minute workout, it should be the same for both so adjusting the reps and weights should be done to make that happen. Some tests that are baselines like a 5k could be left alone, though.
@31:56 The concept/quote “Hard Work Pays Off” (i.e., HWPO) was originated by Aesop 2,500 years ago in his fable “The Tortoise and the Hare.” If you’ve never heard of Aesop, I think I recall hearing Mat Fraser (or maybe it was Matt O’Keefe) on a podcast a while back, talking about how Mat made him (Aesop) millions of dollars. Also, Dave Castro has been known to name-drop him as “A-Sop.” I also understand that before settling on "HWPO" as the Fraser-brand name, the alternate "SSWR" (Slow and Steady Wins the Race) was strongly considered but ultimately rejected because some countries and cultures have difficulty with spoken English (i.e., U.K., Ireland, etc.) and can not effectively pronounce he acronym without excessive spittlling.
Rogue should buy it. Have Castro run the event side.
CrossFit mayhem/Nc fit / Comp train should go in and buy it together
Sports teams are sometimes bought by multiple people
Great show. I thought it was interesting that Garrett pointed out that the NAE Semifinal was "ugly" because there was a lack of focus on Taylor Self. It was a good, valid point, but I would have taken it in a slightly different direction -- let's be real here, Taylor is not a handsome man.
Just to clarify the above observation, I'm only referencing "modern" human standards. Aesthetic masculine ideals may have been different for Neanderthals, the extinct Hobbit people from the island of Flores, and other stages of our evolution. For all I know, Taylor's spotted skin, prominent brow ridge, and receding forehead may have been celebrated by Homo Erectus or other of our archaic ancestors. I like watching CrossFit and CP&W; I'm not an anthropologist.
I love your comments bro. 🤜
