I very much enjoy Dave's common sense approach to every project he takes on. His humble presentations are spot on for those of us gearing up on a budget.
It's not blah blah blah Dave. You're excited about it and that's awesome. Love you man
What a wonderful Mothers Day Gift...I lost my dear George Washme (a Jeep Liberty) in an auto accident a couple of years ago, George was equipped for 3day overnight and had used it. George lost his life and I continue to rehab from numerous fractures..the solar aspect is still in its learning phase! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I have a good feeling about this new series due to the dude explaining things. Very nice.
^^^ Jeep guy since 95! the old coleman multi fuel stoves are the best!
I love the old Colemans as well, but Propane is much easier to get most of the time
I've been traveling with a folding E bike, and a 15 gallon container and 60 litre pack, utilizing public transportation to get relatively close to my destination first, then either a cab, or hitch, or the bike if not too far to get the rest of the way to the trail head or city or wherever I'm exploring. Its been a great, super fun way to experience all kinds of different journeys.
That thing is an absolute beauty.
Congratulations on your sweet new ride!Looking forward to new adventure episodes with your new truck!Glad to hear you're busy with your path finder school! Hope all is well with you and your family!!!
I love my OLD Jeep Cherokee, just bought a 2001 4wd to rebuild/Upgrade a lot like your idea, Not a Rock Crawler, but it can get me in and out the woods. 8)
You make some awesome videos man enjoy all your videos very informative and very clean and nice to watch ty for your videos!!!
Cool truck, me and wife test drove a few gladiators fall in love with it. The only things made us change our minds was the latest increase in the prices anything from $5k to$9k. The other reason was maybe space for our toddler and our 3 dogs and gear so we decided to get a Titan PRO4X just got a canopy and like you said the word overlanding is overrated.
Thanks for taking the time to share your ideas with us! I’ve been doing a similar build with my 2005 Tundra and I agree that recovery is number one if you are doing anything off a paved road, i.e. US Forest Service roads. I’ve got a shell on it and to keep my budget low I organized with plastic bins and that allows me to shift things around or put them in the cab if I want to sleep in the bed. Looking forward to seeing more of your truck!
Been a watcher of your videos for years now, but I have to say the gladiator is the last straw for me! 😂 for real though, love the videos man. A huge inspiration in my life for sure. Keep up the good work!👌
One of the things I like about Dave, he's happy to buy gear from overseas if it's what he deems the best for his needs...
I'm so excited you went in the direction of overlanding, which has become very popular recently! My wife and I love overland camping and we are very excited to see your new gear and the adventures yet to come! God bless you and yours David!
In Australia we get 2 specs of Gladiator. The nighteagle and the rubicon.
Both run the 4.10 gearing and we have discovered that our nighteagle, although it doesn’t come with lockers according to Jeep, actually does. Same lockers as the rubicon.
They’re just not wired up.
So a lot of our ARB stores are wiring them up. Still costs several hundred $ AU but much less that the full cost of lockers
Yours might be the same and it’s a cheaper way to have that peace of mind.
Cheers from Aus 👍🏻
Thanks Dave. Looking forward to looking at all the gear you got in there
Great video. Thank you. I have an older 4x4 truck I’m fixing up as a “bug out” vehicle of sorts. Please consider a series on your vehicle build as it goes along. Thanks again, your videos and books are awesome.
I'm so excited for this series! Thanks Dave!
Glad I found this. Really look forward to seeing all of your videos. I have a Gladiator on order and plan to build out for off road camping. Solid advice.
I'm really excited and looking forward to seeing all separate reviews on the toys and products Dave. 😎
I like the look of the Gladiator. I always wanted a Scrambler. Good looking Jeep.
Car camping is all I do anymore. Haven't put a backpack on in twenty years. Doubt I could get far with one on my back.
Very cool, Dave! Much better than the dune buggy I made out of a Chevette back in the day. But poor boys can have fun, too.
Car camping is by far more family friendly as well. Backcountry hiking with a smaller child can be a real ordeal for both child and parent.
P.s. I still use the coleman two burner stove that my father bought in 1976. Still cooks as well as the stove at home. The only maintenance so far has been to wipe off spills and store properly with greased o-rings. Still have the spares that came with it in a little plastic bag.
This will be an interesting series. Looking forward to it!
I am looking forward to peeking into your mentality on “building” a vehicle. Then taking what you think and do for your purpose and using it to help on my build.
I was between a gladiator and a tundra and went with a tundra. Building something similar to your setup is on the list. Awesome looking truck!
Please keep posting updates, thanks for the awesome video Dave!
Videos like this one are why I know I can trust what you say, about techniques and products, because you TEST everything yourself. So what about the Dual Survival days. I have found you to be more than trust worthy, over the years of watching nearly every video you have produced.
Great intro into this series, now I know why you did the last tow about the truck bed insert.
Please continue making more about knots, line and rope, etc.
I'm looking forward to more on this subject. ;-)
Nice setup. I have a very similar setup with my RAM 2500. It is my mobile hunting rig along with hauling my family around the country with our 38 ft camper. Just found your channel and like the info you put out.
I think we have found the one way to get a gladiator to not look ugly. It needs the shell to look right in my opinion.
its always refreshing to see a muddy jeep contrary to many videos out there
Outfitting my TJ Wrangler as this comes out ! Good timing!
Awesome video, I've got a hardshell RTT getting delivered tomorrow and I'm super excited! Done all other forms of camping so now it's time for something new🤘
Thanks for your job on this Channel.
That truck cap is amazing, thanks for putting me onto them.
Love the truck ! Can’t wait to see what all you do with it!
Great video. Thank you Dave. Keep them coming.
not the angry eyes, other wise good build
Love that you also have an M6 great tool for survival i love mine
This is great! I am doing the same thing with my Tacoma.
Glad to see you doing videos on personalizing your Gladiator. Been thinking of one myself in the near future. Look forward to some good ideas. That SmartCap topper looks like the bomb! Take care Dave.
Keep it up! Enjoying from quite north in the Pacific Northwest. We’ll cross paths…. Most appreciate your direct, informative info, and the pace. I can absorb a lot with your time managed videos. Cheers!
Oh man that’s exactly one of my dream builds.
Nice! Looking forward to this series.
Looking forward to this series!
Well that's just fantastic I look forward to your views on some of that equipment. Keep them coming
Gladiator is a great vehicle. Bought mine last fall. I bought a powertank co2 tank for air up as well as a powertank propane tank. Both attatched to the bed with a builtright industries bedside mount system. Lift, tires, winch, bumpers next. Also invested in a ham radio system for communications. If you order a sport s with the max tow package it will get you the better axles and 4.10 gears of a rubicon without having to pay the rubicon price. Also, join tread lightly and get a fca discount 1% under invoice.
Sweet! Congratulations! Looking forward to more.
Great video Dave. I probably would recommend adding atleast, a rear swichable locker, it can minimize the need for pulling out the recovery gear. The rear cover is really nice, smart. I look forward to more on this topic.
Thanks Dave! Excellent video....shout out from Dayton.
sounds good Dave looking forward for the next films, take care
cool series. dave over hear in aus vehicles are un avoidable because of the huge distances of travel between water and resources. if your out on the never-never with out a car you a boned. so optimising your kit for car travel is an important skill
I would add a hi-lift jack also it's the first piece of recovery gear I add to my jeeps. This is going to be an excellent series cant wait to see you use your gladiator
Gonna love this series!
I wish you LOT of fun with your new vehicle!
Stay safe!
Can not wait for more episodes!
Kind of the same train of thought I've been taking my Tahoe since the day I bought it. My route is a little more modular and portable, in that I'm using the Ridgid brand of tool cases to house/stow my gear. Nice rig, congrats on getting it.
Damn....nice set up. Once you get this done you should be unstoppable.
Great set up
I've never met Dave Canterbury, but I must say, that's my guy. We thank you for everything you contribute to this world brother Dave! God bless you sir!
Awesome brother!! Looking forward to this series bub!! Stay safe and God bless 🇺🇸☠️🇺🇸!!!
Nice Jeep Dave, my JL has given me battery problems twice now its an 2018, with 14,000 miles on it. The chicken sht little battery under the fuse box is always a problem. My warranty ends in June and at that point Im putting a Genesis dual battery system. Other than that I use an Ikamper 2 with a hard shell, king size bed and its fast up and fast down. Good luck!
This is going to be a great series. See if you can do a collab with wranglerstar on recovery gear and how to use it. He has shown some posts on the subject.
This is going to be a great series
Looks like a fun series....
Man, I'm stoked for that!
That thing is AMAZING
Jerry can has my attention. Thanks for posting
I think strapping a shovel and Axe to the toppers side doors Molle attachment points would work well.
Looking forward to this series 😊👍
Great video! I went off road and camped for years. Serious off road but always with a couple other vehicles. We got into several hairy situations but had a blast. Looking forward to your reviews on solar energy. I've just started the research myself. So far I can build a system I need for about 1/3 of the cost of Jackery.
Nice Jeep setup Dave . Very good information
Nice build man. I like what you’ve done to your rig.
Been so excited for this
Sick Ride!! Interesting ideas too
Good stuff! And nice vegvisir, mines on my shoulder.
Great video brother thank you for what you do and your knowledge and expertise and adventures
EXCELLENT Dave!!
Good topper--I put a AluCab on my Tacoma . RSI and AluCab are "industrial grade" toppers
Great stuff!!
I love camping from my truck!
Dave, they make a hammock stand that mounts off a tow bar hitch
I have my Ram 6.5’ bed set up the same way. But our Gladiator we haven’t decided how to cover the bed yet. We definitely went w the locking diffs since I agree getting in/out is priceless
Can't wait to see where it goes from here.
Take it easy DC, gotta relax sometimes man! Sweet setup for sure.
Very cool! Good for you!
A front locking differential is worth every penny. You might not even need recovery gear if you're only doing mild 4 wheeling. Once you have one, you'll never go without it.
thank you
Excited for the series. Thank you Dave
I just designed and made a bed rack for my gladiator with car camping in mind. I've made a hammock hanger off the passenger side that folds out to accommodate a 10 ft hammock.
I didn't think about the lift and 37s I put on it so I'm kinda hanging higher than I like.
Very cool and informative. Thanks 👍✌
Agree 1,000,000%. Don't need rubicon if one is not doing hardcore rock-climbing. Great advice. Payload is more important for longer duration travel/camping.
Fantastic
That's the first gladiator iv seen with a cap..nice ride
whats up dave like youre JEEP bring it to BANTAM JEEP FEST BUTLER PA JUNE 11 like to see you there .lots of jeeps and jeepers will be there
👍👍Ima geeking out man! Love it and looking forward to it. And that is a Sweeeet rig too! 🤓👍
Dave are you going to start a playlist for the Gladiator. Looking at getting one too. Keep up the great work.
I think Mr. Canterbury is after a Jeep sponsorship
more awesome content thank you
Cadillacin it right there. Sweet ass ride Dave.
👊💀
Great channel Dave. I think you would be interested in checking out Casey's "Coyote Works" you tube channel. He lives in central Oregon and does a lot of the things you talk about in this video. There are of course differences - but, an amazing amount of similar ideas: jeeps, recovery gear, roof-top tents, overlanding, camping gear, bugout kits, etc., etc. Keep up the good work. Don from Oregon
I agree! You have to get in and get out. Getting out is more important than getting in. Lol I'm all in on the backwoods truck camping. My girlfriend makes fun of me because I pack a ruck and throw it in the back of my truck. She doesn't understand I want to do the most with the least gear, and at 58, I can't walk like I used to. Ain't getting any easier and I'm not ready to stop.
