  • Cloud Cascade is one of my favorite Invent songs to play & currently, it's definitely a staple in the set. We opened the set with it in Europe which was nice for me because it's an easier song & allows me to get a bit more warmed up on the kit before getting to the tech-ier tracks.
I shot this vid at the end of September right before leaving for a Satyr tour. That tour went directly into two Invent Animate tours & I just got home a couple weeks ago, which is part of why I'm just now uploading it. I finished the main edit while in Europe & held off on posting it because of the left side camera angle (my left in the video). Because of how I set up this angle & the positioning of my left crash/lights, almost every time I hit that crash, the light behind me comes through & causes a bit of a flash depending on the screen you're viewing on. I find it's not that noticeable on a phone but on a computer screen I definitely notice it. After some time passed, I figured I might as well just post it because it's still a solid playthrough. Plus I haven't uploaded in a while due to touring quite a lot in the second half of 2022. Things have been busy! I'd definitely like to get better about posting while on the road though. So yeah, just wanted to give that disclaimer & I apologize if the light flashing bothers you. Definitely will be preventing that the next time I film lol. All things considered, I'm still somewhat new to shooting decent looking drum videos here at home, so while this isn't the number one best looking one, I think it's still pretty tight. So I hope you enjoy!
I tried my best to play this song as close as possible to the original recording. Big shoutout to Trey Celaya for always writing sick ass drum parts.
Also wanted to take this opportunity to announce that I'll be continuing to drum for Invent Animate on another Europe tour in February/March with Erra, Silent Planet & Sentinels! I think all those bands rule, plus I thoroughly enjoyed touring Europe this past November, so I'm thrilled to go back. Come catch us at a gig if you're in the area.

This is also the first video I've done with my new Sennheiser e 604 tom mics! Most venues have these mics but I got especially accustomed to them when I toured with Alluvial, as that was also the first time I monitored toms in my in ears. With Invent, we use the e 904's but these are quite similar so I grabbed them for home & used them on the road with Satyr as well. They sound great!
I wanted to dedicate this video to my late cousin Camille. She tragically passed away about a month ago while I was still out on tour. Dedicating a drum video to her is the least I can do, but maybe take it as a reminder to reach out to old family & friends you maybe haven't kept in touch with quite as much. A lot of times you don't feel that heartache to see someone again until it's too late.
