Thanks for another great video, Stan. Please disregard the negativity and keep them coming. We just returned from hiking in the Smokys this week. Too many people! You’re very fortunate to have the expansiveness of the Yellowstone Ecosystem and the solitude that comes with it.
Love your videos! The lack of goofy music, the perfectly timed panning and the awesome editing... all of this creates the closest videos I've come across that give you the feeling of being there in person. Really unique imo.👍
Been there done this. And a hell of a lot closer in a darker forest. Summer of 78, working at the lake hotel went on an after work hike with a friend up to the sulphur hills, some fumarols up in the hills just east of Pelican valley. Underestimated the distance of course, got there when the sun was setting and checked out our fumaroles and headed back too late, got caught in the dark with just a little disposable flashlight. Enough to keep on course with a compass so we kept on bushwacking until it happened. Nothing we heard, saw, or smelled. Suddenly we both knew we WERE NOT ALONE. Something was with us, very close and very quite. So it was up the nearest tree which wasn't far, vertical scramble through thick branches for a good long wait. Neither of us knew what it was, our tiny flashlight wasn't enough to light it up but it sure was enough adventure for the season.
This is one of my favorite areas to see bears. I am so glad you share your experiences. I appreciate your willingness to turn around and let them have their space.

Lot of thoughts. It’s been a while since you had the two grizzly morning. I flew into Bozeman the morning they shut the park down. Chrisann, thank you for your nice comments. It is nice to hear a comment like this in the mist of all the negative comments I have been getting. You make my day bright. Thank you.
What is interesting is the interaction between predators and prey animals. Not always aggressive, the grizzly walked right past an elk with little interest. Wild and completely unpredictable, but not always aggressive towards other animals in the environment. Yes sometimes they actually behave themselves.
Stan... I worked with Carl from West who ran into the Grizzly at Baker's Hole. He was also bear aware and knew how to see. Please trust your senses and take care.

That should be a fun place to work. I hope you will be able to get out and do some hiking and I hope you put some videos on your channel. Have a great summer.
I wonder if Mr. Mills has some kind of nighttime optics, which permits seeing better than is possible for us through the video’s lens. It would seem prudent given his understandable interest in hearing early morning sounds, avoiding the day’s hottest temps and Yellowstone’s biting insects! Quite clearly, he is very focused on “what’s there!” I have often been impressed by Mr. Mills’ constant focus on what’s around him, signs of animals and his powers of observation. I think men of an earlier era, like Daniel Boone perhaps, had this same sense of presence in the wilderness, and ability to “dead reckon” their way from place to place without a trail! It is a remarkable, and not often seen sense of place.
Wife and I will be in Yellowstone next week Stan. Any recommendations on good hikes with the availability due to road closures? I’ve backpacked Lamar Valley and Pellican Valley but not sure where we should go in the middle/southern section.
I think any hike can be a great adventure. I don’t hike that much in the southern part of the park because of all the trees. I can’t see the wildlife. But the hiking is still good.
