  • We live in an overstimulated world that measures our worth based on our productivity. The result is that we feel guilty when we slow down and do nothing at all.
But what if there are benefits to doing nothing? What if it was healthy for us to slow down?
Research suggests that there are indeed scientific benefits to slowing down and doing nothing. In this video I discuss some of these benefits, share some thoughts on why we feel so guilty for doing nothing, and then go through some ideas for what we can do to incorporate doing nothing into our lives.

I have absolutely nothing to do, nowhere to go, and no one to see… and I’m in bliss. I don’t move when I’m motivated to move. I move when I am inspired to move from within. If it’s not a “hell yes” then it’s a “hell no”. When I am productive… I’m very productive.

I've always walked in the evening. It gives my brain a chance to unwind. I just never realised what I was doing until recently.

    Great message!
People should take time to sit back and "enjoy the ride" as they say. Sometimes taking a mental stoll or drive does wonders for yourself, your knowledge and your mental health.
I recently started traveling across the globe on my own and it has been one of the most memorable and eye opening experiences in my life.
Taking time on your own to just do nothing and wonder around a new place is something one cannot even express but be. You learn alot about yourself by just being and observing.
    Thanks again for these videos.
I have people all the time look at me when I tell them I do alot on my own and just enjoy the moments and after talking to them for a bit, they sometimes understand what I'm trying to express.
As a society there is still a stigma about being by yourself whether at a restaurant, movie, vacation and there is still some kind of "pity" that people still tend to display.
One of the greatest things that has taken me my entire adult life to understand is that this is your life and who cares what someone thinks. Having that idea is the most freeing and liberating feeling in the world. Unfortunately it takes people sometimes their whole life to realize that and sometimes people do not even grasp the concept ever, unfortunately. Each of us has the ability to just be and be free.

ALBERT EINSTEIN said something like: make sure you leave time to think.

for instance, Nowadays there's too much information, and we're not able to get all of it... I like to say we live under "overdose of information". I adore the time before sleep that I'm "doing nothing", thinking about existential questions for example.. that gives me more inspiration.
