Annabel's: Old World Discretion

- Annabel's nightclub, in its original format under the ownership of Mark Birley in 1967, represented, more than anything else, a place now lost in time. A time of discretion amongst the world's elite. The Club, with it's small membership, coincided with a period when old money sought privacy rather than audacious publicity.
Its decor was, as described by Nicky Haslam, a very sexy and mysterious one with mirrors and shadows. It had been decorated with an eye to make its members look all the prettier, with subtle lighting, red painted walls. All of this overseen and characterised by Birley’s inventive eye in mixing old Master's together with the humbler bric a brac of his travels.
It was, also, a place of romance where invitations meant that courtships had moved to a more serious level and numerous marriage proposals resulted.
It summed up, quite simply, the most elegant nightclub and private dining anywhere in the world.
The background music that I have added is "L'heritier" by Michael Colombier (opening music) and "007 and Counting" by John Barry (at 4:37). The video is taken from Annabel's: A String of Naked Lightbulbs (2014).

I am a member. Nothing in the new club gets close to the original Annabel’s - the fun nights at that club just don’t translate to the new one despite the money. A Great club has been lost and I’m afraid 5 Hertford street isn’t the answer either ....

Only wish all of the participants were identified. I guess if one has to ask "Who is that?" then one is not a member! Lol

Don't go to that link... when I opened it up some weird thing came up saying I was the billionth something or other and won a prize .
I had trouble getting out of that ....I just would not open that link in case anyone is interested to know .
