Product is rubbish. Been using genuine stihl 2.4mm trimmer line, been loading product exactly like this and yet all I get is miles of line being spooled out. I'm even using this on a genuine stihl fs130 trimmer. Going to have to go back to the bump head. Total rubbish. And no, I'm incompetent. If I can compound turbo a duramax I can spool a bloody whipper snipper. This auto feed system is just pooh.
@@gavinmasters8904 Same here. I've checked all the videos on RUclips and they all show it this way. If you look at the Stihl instructions, they're not super clear, but may be different. I'm going to try routing the line thru the metal guides and see if that acts as a "clutch" to keep the line from being thrown out.
Actually it's not bad design. I've replaced all my trimmer heads with this one. I hate bump feed heads. But hating one type of the head have nothing with "bad design". Either you love it or hate it, you can't say it's bad design.

I had the same problem as you.
Third time I tried, (after reassembly) I trimmed the two cords to same length & now working fine. Hope that helps

The oldspool before worked just fine, now you can't even buy replacement old ones, stuck with this garbage

Thats the worst piece of shit ever made. As soon as the turning speed goes down the spool releases so much line, that it stops working
