Thank you so much. I'm loving your channel. Paint colors are my current addiction! I am painting my main floor; kitchen, dining room and living room. There are so many colors to choose from it makes my head spin. And then there's hubby who seems to be obsessed with peachy beige! Haha. Anyway, great content, and I've already watched four of your videos tonight. Really slick. Brilliant examples to illustrate your points. Truly excellent. Your attention to detail is appreciated. ♥️🇨🇦
Very helpful to know and you explain it so clearly! Thank you so much! At the moment I am trying to figure out how to improve my living room, but I am not there yet. With my kitchen though I am happy. I suppose it is no accident that it seems to comply with the colour rule: 60 % white, 30 % wood colour and 5 % each for blue and black.
What would be the window color part of? I have difficulty finding information on how to decorate with black windows. Should the interior door handles and hinges also be black? Or the kitchen door knobs? Or the light fixtures? Is the hardware part of the 10% of the 60-30-10 rule?
Hi there, I found this video so simple to follow and super helpful. We are building a new house and the white primer is currently on the walls and I really like the white against our light timber floors. I’m trying to go for a Scandinavian feel to the house, if white is my dominant colour throughout the house, and we have a light grey kitchen, have you any suggestions as to the other 2 colours I should use (my 30/10). Also, is it ok to use the 60/30/10 rule throughout the entire house? Thanks in advance for your help.
I'm glad you found the video helpful! When using white as your main color, you'll want to keep two things in mind. First, you'll want to choose a darker color that can provide some contrast, and second, you'll need a mid-range color as a "bridge" between the white and darker color you'll be using. Some great mid-range colors for Scandinavian style are grays, blue-grays, and green-grays. For a darker colors, consider rich browns/caramels (to tie in with your wood tones), bronze, or charcoals/blacks. Hope that helps!
Do walls and ceiling are considered in these calculations? I am asking because in the first example, it can be correct if the ceiling is not taken into account. Otherwise accent colour (white in this case) will take much more that 10 %.
Thank you, but what about the brown floor and brown baskets in example num 3? It is more there than the green accent. What category do the brown parts fit in this?
Totally doable! Here's a blog post of mine about creating good flow between rooms that might help: welshdesignstudio.com/creating-good-design-flow-between-rooms/
It’s tough because in my apartment, the floors are grey, the walls are white and there’s a brick accent wall in the dining area. I don’t want my apartment to be grey with warm color accents lol
It's important to work with your fixed materials. Often times, if your floors are pretty neutral, you can ignore them in your color palette. What colors do you want in your home?
hello Mam I need your help .mam I want to decorate my home but I don't have any knowledge about colours.i want gray red yellow green blue all colour in my home can you suggest me colour pallet name please mam if you don't mind can you help me
You can group colors together into a color family, and still use them in the quantities talked about in the video. For example, group blue, teal, and green together as your main 60% color, use gray/white as your 30% color, and red/orange/yellow as your 10% accent. Some good tips here: www.onekingslane.com/live-love-home/decorating-with-color-patrick-mele/
I hate color. It scares me. Can you do a video on the 60-30-10 ratio/rule on a physical colorwheel please. I need to know how and where to find the colors.
I am going to school for interior design. Thank you for helping me understand the color rule better.
Wonderful! Glad it was helpful for you.

Isn't it great when things come together naturally? Now that you know this rule, it will help every room look more cohesive. Thanks for watching!

@@welshdesignstudio // it certainly helped me. Thank you.
Please i have some confusion, other videos they said, main color must be 10 %, sorry for my english, and i'm not familiar with design. thank u
Main color should be around 60%, and the accent color should be around 10%

Walls, yes, but usually not the ceilings (unless you're painting the ceilings a specific color).
Thanks so much for such a helpful video! Love your channel!! Question: Do you use the same colors throughout your home or every room?
You're so welcome! I typically use one color for the main areas of my home, and then other colors in different rooms.
Well explained. Thx.
cool! the examples are very helpful! thank you

Oftentimes, wood accents are ignored as a neutral, and not included as part of the 60/30/10 equation.
@@welshdesignstudio Oh, now it makes sense. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my question
Thanks 🙏🏻 ❤
Thanks for watching!
Great video, thanks a mill.
Thank you!
Is the flooring is a 60% or 30%? I'm little bit confuse
What if you wanna have different accent colors throughout the house, but still have the house look unified in color scheme?

It seems like you eliminated the ceiling in this rule, correct?
Yes, for the most part, you can ignore the ceiling, unless it is painted a bold or bright color.
