I guess you probably searched for the original artist, but for those who don’t know the original.
It was made by Yogscast, group of british youtubers/gamers who got famous mainly for their Minecraft let’s plays. Simon (one of the main members) made up the chorus during one of their videos just to make digging fun. Fans liked it so much that they karet turned it into a proper song. Diggy Diggy Hole
Made by The Yogscast (in their WoW days, YOGS was theur acronym for their clan, Ye Olde Goon Squad)
the song was a 5 or 10 second tidbit in their initial minecraft series, Shadow of Israphel, sung bu Simon Lane (Common username, Honeydew)
as he stated:"It has to be sort of silly, but light hearted" and jjst went with it.
i itially, they made a remix of it to a dubstep tune with a custom minecraft animation video. Later, they made their own full version, which one of their local chiors sang not too long after, now THIS band took the leap to sing it next.
Its honestly hilarious how a tiny segmsnt of a long-dead series resonates like this, from a one person spur of the moment thing to a phenomenon thats synonymous to the game minecraft.
You should seriously check them out. Theyre good comedy

The part that I enjoyed about this video was it introduces the ancient art of blacksmithing to the public. Most people dont even know what smithing is or see it in museums and fantasy books. As a fellow smith, I can assure you it is far from being the "dying art" it is portrayed to be. On a side note, for all of you uneducated folk, they are forging a shovel throughout this video, which makes sense since the song is "diggy diggy hole"

A fan took it and made another, before the Yogscast made another version later which then this band took that latest version and just put their own spin on it.

The song started as a skit in Minecraft cause they wanted to sing something while digging holes which the lyrics were "I am a dwarf digging a hole, diggy diggy hole." From that a fan made a more songy version, then the version wind rose did a cover of came out from Yogscast themselves which became less involved with Minecraft and had a bit more of a story about dwarves that live underground

The real origin of this is from the original Yogscast duo Simon and Lewis. They had a minecraft youtube series called "Shadow of Israphael". Simon was basically roleplaying as a dwarf and in one episode he just randomly came up with this little bit "I'm a dwarf and I'm digging a hole, diggy diggy hole, diggy diggy hole" and he just repeated that. After that people made remixes that was also featured on their podcast, The YogPod, and it basically snowballed from there. They later made an original song out of it which this is a cover of.

Here is the VERY original, where it all began:
    /watch?v=N-ePNomef68
It's all from just a silly moment, a bit of banter. That's the very birth of this entire thing.

That video which I linked is the very creation itself. Simon, aka Honeydew, pulled it out of his butt there.
A fan took it and made another, before the Yogscast made another version
later which then this band took that latest version and just put their
    own spin on it.
Original at 10 minute mark: @
    Fan: @
    Yogscast: @
    Then came Wind Rose.

You will probably have the chorus of this song in your head for weeks. It certainly beats 'Hi ho, it's off to work we go'!
There are a number of vids on RUclips about the evolution of this song.

The song was made by Yogscast and its based on minecraft qame. It was later popularised and remixed by Dan Bull for again Yogscast channel.

I love how they both went from "Well this is certainly not rap..." to "Okay, nice beat, interesting" to "hell yea I can headbang to this" to "A chuckle during the first chorus" to "singing along with the second chorus". xD
