    Using the SR-X9000 with the Linear Tube Audio Z10e integrated amplifier as the energizer. This has been my daily driver for 22 months. It was a worthy investment. I recommend anyone interested in the 9000s to audition it with the Z10e. Holographic sound, excellent detail resolution on a black background. Z10e is a David Berning designed ZOTL (zero output transformer) using EL84 tubes biased at 1/3 the operating current. Tube life is predicted to be greater than 7,000 hours.

    Thanks for the review. It's really unfortunate that people who are reviewing estats on places like youtube end up using systems that even most estat users don't typically have. So gauging what information is helpful to determine a purchase is not all there. I'm still grateful you had a chance to try them! Maybe someday I'll be able to afford one myself. I really like estats more than planars and have had and sold the following t+a solitare p-se, hifiman he6se v1, audeze lcd 4, lcd 24, and abyss 1266 phi tc.
    There is a feeling that they sort of impress me for technical reasons at first, but for some reason, over time, I still end up preferring the overall sound of an estat. Preferences really do play a strong role in this hobby.

      I'm glad you found it helpful. It's true there are fewer reviews of estats and what does exist is often limited by signal chains. It's hard to maintain appropriate chains for both dynamic/planar and estat. I'm hopeful that at some point in the near future the channel grows enough to fund having a nice energizer to stay here permanently.

    I auditioned the Susvara vs X9000 today. For me, the Susvara sounded like the best headphones I’d ever heard. The X9000 were something else entirely. Amazing.

      Update for me is I’ve since heard the Susvara properly powered, and changed my mind. Happily listening to the Susvaras, but either is high end audio.

    • @benjamin_hill
      @benjamin_hill 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@TheWorldTeacherHolo Bliss KTE/May DAC combo. That being said, the Ferrum Oor/Hypsos/Wandla stack gives a very nice result also. I initially listened on a GSX Mini, and in hindsight that was well off the pace for powering the Susvaras suitably.
      There’s a lot of reviews of people being underwhelmed by the Sus, almost consistently listening on something like an A90. With the right amp, they’re a whole different experience.

    X9000 can drive with same the conventional amp as well with iFi Pro iESL(now discontinued). Both sound very close with the same amp…. Very close!! I have both!! But Shanggri-La SR is much better to both with the same amp….. imo

    Do you think the x9000 has that eitherial quality better than the shangri-la Sr? I say this because I know the HE-1 doesn't have this quality at all. In fact no e-stat I've heard expect stax have that particular quality, but I've never heard the Sr. I hope you know what I mean by that.

    • @wavetheorysound
      @wavetheorysound  Год назад

      I'm not quite sure what you mean, no. I can say the sounds and presentations of the X9000 and SRL are quite different. They really aren't direct competitors sonically.

By biggest problems with electrostatic has always been dynamics.
