I'm here 4 years later trying to learn about a character I want to main because I saw her eating a hamburger and thought it was funny. I didn't sign up for this.
I agree. But I think Berman was a actually teach Ram of difference to the world so she could see along with other people helping her see how to spread out more than just abandoned one thing of her own world. Though when bedman did that I thought that was horrible but good at the same time which is basically his personality where I actually like him, despite when he talks complexity well.
I love that cuz you don't see this type of thing that often. Other games would write as him doing it just for the sake of being a Dick, but he had s purpose. I mean, If a dog she was just starting to get attached to was the smallest painful loss possible necessary to teach her to see herself as a person, then so be It. It was worth it. I mean, he could have killed Sin to give the same example. At least he chose the smallest sacrifice, instead of "see? I killed your friend. Just go make another. Oh but It isn't the same thing, is it? That's right. Aw too bad boohoo"
@@turinmormegil7715 And he clearly took no pleasure in hurting the dog either. Bedman was clearly struggling emotionally through the whole scene himself. He hesitated several times while speaking, which he almost never does.
"How can you ask me to kill this little girl?" is such a good line. Bedman starts seeing a bit of Delilah in Ramlethal right there and suddenly he doesn't know if he can do his job anymore.
I know, right? Bedman has spent the whole game up to now rationalising his kills as just a temporary measure he'll reverse once he gets to the 'absolute world', but Ram hits too close to home and now he can't even begin to think of a way to justify eliminating her. It's like he ran into a Delilah shaped wall and instantly rebounded in the other direction. It's sad that we never actually get to see the two siblings interact on screen, the sass levels would be off the charts haha.
I think the moment that I start crying is when Ram reaches out for the Puppy and it backs away because... it just doesn't know her. Even if every aspect of it is 'identical', its memories cannot be replaced. That's the value of a life.
thats not entirely what bothered her about the new doggo. her original doggo she had before bedman killed it would always bite her hand, and in monotone she would of course say..."ow" god Ram is precious

I'm sure someone has said it already... The cruelty of taking away something she cared about, in order for her to understand the value of a life.
this is yet another beautiful scene in XRD. while Bedman's way of doing this might of been cold at first after going through this and revelator you realize he does everything with the belief he can save everyone who he had murdered,. The people, that dog, everyone and in the end when it was all said and done he was truly a good hearted person, but like Robo-Ky said, his way of doing it was wrong and this is another reason of how he see's things, teaching her how to feel and the value of life and it shows at this point he does have a heart and isn't as cold as the saint maximus
A lot of evidence points to Bedman having Asperger's, which would be one of the reasons why I relate to him so strongly. He's a good-natured person at his core, but he hates society as a whole and desires to change it, and he's so caught up in that regardless of what he does to get it that he will do _anything_ to get it. That sort of black or white thinking is definitely a common trait in ASD, but that's beside the point: if he can do good that won't impact on his calculations, then he's up to do it, like teaching Ramlethal to have emotions.
This is one of the many reasons I like Bedman as a character, he's a nice guy, just misguided, but not in the stereotypical way either. And while seeing him be so close to a good guy while not there is annoying, it also adds alot to his charm
Firstly, that's what Bedman's all about. He's trying to break society as a whole and shape it to his will so that he can bring back the dead and nobody will ever have to suffer again (his Absolute World), but that can't be done without trying to destroy the current society and being dubbed as "evil" in the process. And secondly, you're completely right.
@@rexflores8461 He killed the dog to teach Ramlethal the value of a life, and therefore her own through loss. Bedman...probably the most difficult to understand...I suppose 'Antihero' I've seen in a long time. While his methods are at first cruel in appearance, how do you explain to a being raised to have no thought and no opinions to have thoughts an opinions? You create conflict. You introduce a situation that forces such a being to use terms such as 'why'. And conflict is only brought about by an undesirable outcome. While he COULD have merely created an illusion of killing the dog, in many ways this was the most effective method with the least backlash, because it shows permanent consequence and that there are things that cannot be replaced. It enforces the lesson in a way that makes it all but impossible to forget. And, greater or smaller the scale, it's a lesson we all learn as well. Things happen that we cannot explain or stop. They create and force connections we did not have before or even chose to ignore. And it is through this that growth develops. Growth is painful. It is not ever kind or patient. But through growth so to does wisdom and strength develop. It is how you APPLY that growth and the lessons gained therein that determines who you are.
