Tiny House On Wheels: Making A Shady Spot To Relax

- Summer is fast approaching and the weather's getting hot. The heat front of the house gets full sun all afternoon. I've been wanting to clear a spot out back with some shade and a bit of a view of the river.
Here are some of my favourite things I use practically every day in my tiny house on wheels:

Put that other umbrella up behind your seats in the shady area. That will give you more privacy from the house behind you and a little more protection too

A lovely natural area. Enjoy the shady area and enjoy the nature and river sounds.
Very nice. I like that you didn't overdo it like so many would be tempted to (pavers, firepit, lights, etc). Just a nice clear area of nature to sit and rest and cogitate. It's nice to have both a sunny spot and a shady spot to chose from depending on mood and weather. It might be fun to construct a pergola type structure out front that would provide a degree of shade and protection from the sun, but still remain open. They are not hard to build, nor should the limited amount of lumber needed be cost prohibitive. You could also hang all sorts of pots and plants from it. Just an idea. Enjoy!
I've been thinking about that for the front one day.
Good way to hide yourself front the neighbour below you, but it if was me, I'd also be putting up something so that the people in the black house above you can't see you sitting there in the shade.

We make inexpensive "fences" supported with t-bars posts (Canadian Tire carries them), and rebar mesh panels. We could put mesh on these, but ours are in the sun and we grow climbing beans (scarlet runner beans) which flower for weeks and weeks.

Fun day outside. I like the privacy fence. I think most of the early green veggies will do okay back there if you mix them with some plants the deer don’t like. Tough sharing your garden with the critters lol.

Really good idea! That fencing is nice plant camouflage to give privacy and relaxation! Shade is a must to relax outside. Maybe some ferns or hostas in your shady spot could work! Enjoy!

You could use sails on your home to posts for shade against the house.

I find it doesn't take much to create a small, secluded place to mentally and emotionally recoup. Our lives lead us to believe we must push, charge forward, and make the most of every waking moment of our day. It is an incredible feeling to sit in the quiet, to observe and feel yourself slowly but surely unwinding. In my observation, you are surrounded by so much beauty and natural beauty that if you don't get around to planting those "deer proof" plants.... so what? What you have behind Serendipity is gold. I always feel blessed to have a small side garden with a 6 ft privacy fence to unwind in. I did laugh at your trip to the grocery with that perverbial list of only two things. I am a huge list maker and still seldomly leave a market with just the things on my list. Human nature? My veggie garden is starting to produce, and I'm on my way to feed my potted flowers. To others it might be disjointed and a little mixmatched, but so what. Pease of mind is where find it. Right?

Sometimes projects take a left turn instead of a right. You accomplished something so you didn't get skunked and you will definitely enjoy your new little retreat area. That area that you spruced up looks so adorable!! I wondered if you might put your "shortie" umbrella sorta behind your chairs and kinda titled it to where one side pointed upwards a little bit, sorta ar an angle, then you could have a little privacy from the darker colored home that we see behind you, just a thought!

Your shady spot is glorious. You can buy a 3 x 5 piece of lattice you can get resin or wood, the resin is maintenance free. If you also got three metal fence posts you could just attach the lattice to that. Easy peasy! They make a bracket that is a half circle that you could mount your umbrella post to your house (the grey one) That way the wind can't tip it over. Your little paradise in the back is lovely, I can hear the water through your video.

Foldable/accordion trellis would be great for growing Morning Glory or Moon Vine. I grow them together. Deer don't seen to like them here.

Happy Mother’s Day! The willow trellis is a great idea. You can still see (and hear!) the river. I have an Adirondack resin chair too. They are the best relaxing in outside spaces. I wonder if there is any way to give you privacy behind you as you sit there, without blocking next door neighbor’s view of the river.
I may do something behind but I'm no too worried about

Hi Adelina: Just wondering if the owners of the land do anything to the property on their own -- or do they leave that to the tenants to do whatever they would like to do? Are you allowed to fence or plant a garden? Just wondering.
