This beef really made clear the difference between Drakes music and Kendrick music. Drake is fast food music, you feel good when you listen to it, while Kendrick is like well seasoned soul food cooked by granma and you're tryna figure out the spices she used years after eating the food. Kendrick is truly a genius, this beef has made me see him in a different light.
Bravo 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Well said 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I bet Drake don't even wash his chicken before he cook it
Super big facts, we truly won’t appreciate this artist in real time but he’s 1 of them and “euphoria” for me is an all time masterpiece. Shit I’m still bumping songs from his 1st album haha
That's a great analogy drake fans think whoever has the most hit songs is better but I rather have quality over quantity any day
Ish said “ain’t no Brooklyn pizza good enough to move from LA” Kendrick drops 6:16 in LA and speaks on going all the way to BK just for some pizza

And they failing to mention even with all that. It's still only took him like 15 16 I think somebody said 17 at the most. Where is it took Drake 22 days the drop b******* that he didn't even write
Kendrick packed that boy up. The reason Ish doesn’t like it is because it felt like Dr. Umar holding up a mirror to him again.

If you listen to Kendrick’s track and focus on the lyrics and just the lyrics, you will realise how much he addressed this track is deeper then what people think.. a lot of bars went over a lot of peoples heads and it shows !!

Yeah I saw the news clip pop up in my timeline this morning, the owner was playing Kendrick song and thanking him for all of the new business. He's getting dozens and dozens of five star reviews mentioning the Kendrick euphoria song.
I think this is a subtle way of countering Drake's claims of having more love in Compton than Kendrick. To me, Kendrick didn't even have to say he had more reach/pull/love in Toronto. He let's his art speak for itself.

The Teddy Pendergrass reference was crazy, He told him he was his latest and greatest inspiration all while understanding that Teddy was confined to a wheelchair like Drake was in Degrassi
🫢 I was today years old when I learned this info
Teddy was on the other side of the fence that’s how he crashed the car that put him in the wheelchair 😮💨
I was wondering if anyone caught that
Let’s remember what was being done and by WHOM when it happened 😮🤫😂
🤯
Just for context, Joe said the song came out 20 minutes ago. Ish was already saying that the song was mid. I feel like this is how most people listen to Kendrick...on a surface level.
I know the song is new and everyone was excited to speak on it but damn, it takes time to break shit down. This song is layered af. Not even saying what he's saying is profound or super deep but there are a lot of references that most of us didn't get on that first listen. Its a tough track. Calling it mid says a lot about the people saying that in my opinion.
The song was mid the diss was mid. Now when I initially heard it I thought it was garbage because he didn’t keep the energy he had on “like that”. After a few listens it’s not garbage it’s typical Kendrick. Now me saying this is mid is in comparison to where this beef can go. We still have not heard the best diss from either guy I don’t think. Also don’t get it confused this was mid but both of Drakes disses were below mid.
@@jamesonedwardsii4943why was it mid?
Kendrick can never do no wrong just because someone don't agree with y'all we don't know rap 😂
We can understand what the lyrics mean and still think it’s mid. Y’all K dot fans are just weird
@@Hurricanepapi No one said, "you don't know rap." My comment simply stated that most people nowadays listen to it on a surface level and don't take the time to break things down. If it's not explicitly said in a simple way a large majority of people take what's said as it is said and don't tend to look at the metaphors and entendres. If you personally felt attacked by that, then it is what it is. 🤷🏽♂️
Hip hop has gotten boring af over the years. This song is literally one big Easter egg hunt and I fuck with it.
The fact that he said “I love em to death, and in 8 bars I’ll explain that phrase” then literally 8 bars later is the ynw melly line💀

Also I know the pod won’t see this but the beginning sample is from the Teddy Pendergrass song “My latest, my greatest inspiration”.
Teddy Pendergrass ended up in a wheelchair like Drake’s character Wheelchiar Jimmy.
His name is Teddy (pen)degrass(i)

Watching this five days later. I love seeing their takes and knowing what played out after!
I haven’t seen anyone else catch this. Kendrick is actually addressing Cole in the following lines:
I hate when a rapper talk about guns, then somebody die
They turn into nuns, then hop online, like "Pray for my city"
He fakin' for likes and digital hugs
His daddy a killer, he wanna be junior, they must've forgot the shit that they done
Dementia must run in his family, but let it get shaky
I'll park his son
He’s highlighting Cole dissing and then apologising. The same way rappers perpetuate violence by promoting guns at the same time ask for prayers when they contributed to the violence. Cole did the same thing by throwing a stone and hiding his hands.
Cole’s father was in the military so is literally a killer: his daddy a killer he want to be junior. Cole doesn’t have it in him to be a killer like his father. So Kendrick parked him to the side of the conflict.
I thought he was addressing rap a lot records in specific J Prince tweet with the whole Takeoff murder situation.
You should add this perspective to genius. It's solid.
This might be hard to believe, I know, but everybody that’s been in the military has not killed somebody.

Half of Drake’s ‘Take Care’ album (which is considered his classic album) was written by The Weeknd. Drake took several songs from Weeknd’s ‘House of Balloons’ album to be on ‘Take Care’. So the line Kendrick says “You don’t have one, Let your core audience stomach that, then tell ’em where you get your abs from” meaning even your “classic” album is fake and rides the success of other artists.
Take Care isn't considered a classic album and I've never heard that take once. When the album dropped, it was amazing at the time, but if you go back and listen to it, it's still good, but has a lot of faults. The fact is, Drake does not have a classic album in his arsenal.

@@ronnieh2994it’s for sure the culture… Drake not a role model for the culture bro he’s making it look bad

🫡 Can't wait til they really get to dissect Euphoria and get back to the convo. Need more pods lol. I thought he was gonna be unalive, but boy did he clean up quickly and got right back to business.
I just think it's dope when an OG reaches back like that, and NOT trying to sound or be like the youngins. Every OG should do a song with that same energy, and a different youngin. That would be a dope wave for hip hop for sure! It needs that era for sure. Youngins looking lost like they're tryna figure out how to reinvest the wheel. Make a correction to the podcasts. Drake has no classic albums he has good albums but not classics. He has a lot of filler in his albums. And the only album that we can say is a Classic "Take Care" is more of a RNB album even Drake would say that. A lot of the melodies written for that album was also written by the Weekend.
Kendrick has classics
Good King M.A.A.D City has spent the longest time on the Billboard top 200 it has never left that chart since he debuted. The longest chart in rap history.
Certified classic.
To Pimp a Butterfly TPAB is considered by most music critics to be not only the greatest hiphop album but one of the greatest and most important albums of all time. It is one of the most critically acclaimed albums. DAMN is obviously a classic K Dot album. His last album is mixed but some think that is a classic album Kendrick got 3 or 4 Drake has 0 Cole has 1 Forest Hills Drive.
Calm down Nas fans i know Illmatic is the GOAT rap album but TPAB is definitely up there nothing in Drakes album catalog enters any notable persons top 10 because they arent classics.
To pimp a butterfly is nowhere near a classic. Most people say thats his weakest album. I could careless what some white critics say about hip hop. By your comment i can tell youre white too. And drakes nothing was the same is a classic. Yall whiteboys gotta stay out of black culture, goes listen to nickleback
You wrote a whole book your hate is heavy for Drake
