Great video, no fluff, the gun, the review, and shooting. Folks, this is how you make a great video. He got straight into the review, he didn't waste five minutes of our time telling us what he was going to talk about, he just talked about it. We see the gun shooting, not his back like a lot of reviews that show us the back of the shooter while shooting the gun. Bad reviews have us staring at the guy not the gun, he shows us the gun while he's talking to us. I wish all reviews could be this good!
Congrats on acquiring your S&W 6906 pistol, David. Nice pistol! Thank you for sharing it with us. Good shooting, too! You are right; it's a shame S&W doesn't make pistols like this anymore.
When I joined the Norfolk Police Department back in 2000 this was the weapon they issued me. I had never been a fan of S&W autos, and this being a compact pistol, I was not favorably impressed. I am sure the department chose this particular pistol, when they switched from revolvers to autos in the 1980s, because at the time, they mandated officers carry off duty, and doubtless wanted to provide a gun small enough to conceal. To make it work better as a duty weapon, we carried with a fifteen round magazine, and a small plastic "boot" around the base of the magazine contoured match the bottom of the pistol's grip. The two spare mags were twelve rounders. Despite my initial impression, I came to like the gun. I never experienced a single malfunction with it, which I can't say of the 5946 TSW that briefly replaced it on our department -- I had three of those issued to me, because the first two couldn't be made to run reliably. I was not the only officer to experience problems with that pistol either. Thankfully, we had those only a brief time before the department changed over to Glock 17's. When we turned in our 6906's, the department sold them back to Smith & Wesson, who I am sure sold them to some dealer selling police surplus firearms to the public. I wish they'd given us the opportunity to buy them. I still have no special _love_ for the 6906, and there are guns I like far better, but I did like it, and would like to have it because it was the gun I carried when I started this job all those years ago.
Good pistols. Well made, accurate and reliable. Marketplace is a little short on holsters and accessories selection but there are enough options to make the pistol serviceable. Good review. Thanks
Great video Dr.! To the point, no BS, and you obviously shoot well. I concur with your observations. For me, this pistol fits great. Why buy a polymer when you can get this.
Bought one from a friend before Christmas of 2019. Polished the stainless and plan on the range tomorrow. My range does not allow rapid fire or double taps. Soon I'll move and have my range on my property.
Definitely a nice piece. I just bought one. Great for everyday carry. Your review is spot on. 👍🇺🇸 Do you know or recommend a website for assessors, Sights and grips.
You can use any gen 3 double stack mag so you can put a 15,17,20 or 30 round mag. Night sight are available KD grips make wooden grips for them. You can get a trigger job for it not really need in my option same with polishing the feed ramp. Urban carry has holster and guy on esty makes a good one as well I use the esty personally.
You would gain more control of the handgun if you changed your grip. Rather than curling your thumbs down (which is a revolver grip), run your thumbs straight, and parallel with the slide even high enough to make contact with the side of the slide.
I carried a 6906 thirty years ago as my off duty weapon. I still have the gun... awesome weapon
I carried the 6904. I miss it.

You have me thinking about these old S&W metal jobs

Holsters are easy. Any leather IWB that fits a Glock 19 will work. Among others.

How did the polished stainless turn out?
@@BubbaGerald Very nice. I wish I could show you a pic. Just needed a little TLC.
WTF kind of range doesn't allow double taps🤣
@@TB-im1ci One that is scared of "accidents."

This is what I used for my first carry piece and that was only about 10 yrs ago it is my nightstand gun
Glad I got my hands on one...
mine shoots about 3 feet high at 25 yards. dead center but high. what's my problem?

Pinky rest on those mags would be meeting the Dremel for a carry gun.
That pistol has a kick.
It’s his grip, not the pistol.
They should start remaking these.
What's a good price for one of these??
$350 - $450 depending on the area of the country.
