It's the age old question, what moved up first, the singles, or the sealed? In this case it's going up so high because all the singles are very desirable which pushes box prices higher, then the more boxes are cracked, fewer remain which pushes box prices higher then the singles go higher because there are fewer on the market. It's pretty much a gamma squeeze of cardboard
@@PhilosopherCards Data tends to show it's the singles that move first. Price doesn't tend to increase in cases until demand for singles makes it lucrative to open the boxes. This was also a special edition set around christmas that many seemed to have skipped. Also only 1.5 million (vs 3million previous run) of these cards we're printed this run, with apparently a moderately increased surge and mythic pull rate. Make's it more feasible to pull a serialized card. That'll go for 2-3k vs the previous set with realative to the newer run, few serializeds that go for 10k (Elvish ring).
In response to higher box prices some singles can go up, you'll see that in the data in common cards going for a few dollars now. Demand for these usually doesn't increase enough to justify the prices they start going for. Good way to detect uptrends, when the price levels off or decreases you'll start to see normalization.
Amazing product, my wife bought me a box last Januarys and it was one of the best box iv open so far, in terms of value i also think the posters won't loose value, au contraire! :) Great opening! tsk for sharing.
I often note to streamers that I appreciate trim nails when I watch pack ripping. Kudos to your tidy hands. To often we sit opposite people at an LGS who have no self love. Trust me lads, as someone who wasn’t always confident, staying tidy is the way.
I trash all of my sealed packaging so they never get in the hands of scammers. If you sell packaging and get scammed in the future it’s your own fault.
That card is called seasons past - it's hildebradt art and only found in the special edition collector boxes. I've opened two last week on my channel - check it out!
@PhilosopherCards no I'm talking about a box that has that art on it we bought it for 20 bucks I think and haven't opened it now it's on tcg player for 90 dollars and other than that, that's the only info we have on it
@@PhilosopherCards no lol a couple months ago the posters were MUCH cheaper lol they all went up within the past month and a half. I have a sauron poster foil as well as gandalf and ive been monitoring these prices regularly
$700 a box is a bargain for this product. I have a master case of these and opened a couple I pulled about $600 in cards per box a few boxes had over $1000 in cards so price is fair.
I never liked this product I feel the original lotr release was so much cleaner and better considering you could pull the three rings. Idk I just don't like the surge foil or the bordering
TCG player. I also like to use ManaBox or TCG Home to scan my cards/input them and it tells you the prices and adds it all up in your collection. Very helpful.
Let's look at the probabilities of not buying cases for this product. Most likely every store, even a reputable ones will be opening cases and in many cases, once a serialized card is found will put the other remaining boxes aside for consumer sales. That means that most likely you will be chasing the other rares, which is not a bad thing, as we saw here. One box worth the price , another not no much. That said, the odds are still in your favor if you were to buy 2 to 4 boxes that you could break even at best, maybe a little profit if lucky. Unfortunetly the buyer of singles will still only be the collector of LotR not the MTG player.
Makes me almost wanna open this again and experience the financial devastation that is LotR/Magic displays 😂 Man, that was great boxes, you got the lucky hits one needs to make it work. Nice one!
For real. I bought several of these boxes months ago and all I got was a big pile of pringled foils. But I am a big LOTR fan so it was totally worth it … right? 😂
@@Goldberry69 I pulled a surge and poster One Ring in the same box, and solt the poster for like $150.... now it's $500..... Follow for more financial advise, hahahaha
Oh that's a hard debate. I think it depends. If you are cracking for singles, how many of those singles can you buy with 900$? What's your upside potential if you crack it, what's the downside potential? If you are holding sealed - its probably a pretty good long term investment, but when the time comes, do you have the means to sell the box through ebay and take on the risk of potentially getting scammed? Depends I think on your plans for the box!
Not at all - I’d say the EV in these are around 600 - 700 per box. If you’re in the market to buy this open it, enjoy it, and hold your value it’s worth it - if you’re in the market to flip - it’s not. Unless you paid what I did. But I didn’t flip it - I wanted the chance and big serialized pulls and one rings
I still dont understand why this box becomes expensive

WOW PHILOSOPHER YOU ARE VERY rowdy 👏. Cracking these boxes. THE BEST OF LUCK TO YOU BRO
I do keep one box weather it's Collector's or regular boxes. It's kinda hard to stack them. I really love this art
When Lincoln is with me at the LGS. I have him pack my packs or boxes
350$? Thats nothing now one costs more around 1000$
At the time it cost 700 each and I got them for 350 each

It’s over $800 now on TCG, so I’m not sure how the heck he found these for $350. Hahaha

They were purchased a week ago from an lgs that was selling them for 350😉

Were can i check the card prices?
tcgplayer (US) and cardmarket (EU) are the standard.
Plus there are always normally local trusted eBay sellers.
I mean you would just look it up at TCGplayer. That’s where most stores would list their cards as. If the don’t then don’t buy them there.

You're welcome! The buyer could say you sent them a brick or an opened box, and they return to you something other than what you sent to them.
