Wait, best guess isn't the ''normal'' way to know what we feel? I am autistic myself and kinda always just guessed if I ever asked myself. Younger I would simply discard any emotions I didn't understand and not act upon them. I feel like understanding them isn't really worth it since all it brings me is sadness, fear and anger. Felt so much better to not even think about them.
I've found that my emotions aren't necessarily hard to define or recognize, but they are about as complicated internally as my own conscious experience and they need to be very deliberately programmed so that they act appropriately most of the time. In my case, that means understanding a great many parameters that make them up, of which many are surprisingly easy to define logically.

We need to make better use of what we have. Stop making surplus and start putting the surplus to use. I know nobody likes a downer, but you gotta know when the party is over. The world is low on hope and high on cynicism. I started meditating daily in my late 40's, 11 years ago, and the process of experiencing how my mind has changed, emotions and my intellect, and how the two interact has been the most interesting thing I've ever done. I have learned RULER. I can't be on top of my emotions all the time, but I am rarely caught out by myself any more in a way that does damage in my life or the lives of others.
You can't just do good for people. You have to go the extra step of making them feel good about you, even if they dont offer anything in return, or its not good enough.

Man you are so missing the mark. I find that emotions have the ability to influence and change the world. It's not thought that drives action or brings change but the emotion it accompainies.
We react to emotions and act in alignment to them.
I find it a really valuable tool. Once you learn to feel and express them properly they add so much depth to you.
