      @@Classic7-4-7 AGAIN, I was reacting SPECIFICALLY TO THE VIDEO IN JOKE. Not referring to real-life scenarios. On top of that, I'd say a good 80% of parents of Millennials drank while us kids were at home. This is one of the reasons there are so many of us who actually REFUSE to drink period (an increase I believe it was of 30% compared to GenX), INCLUDING ME!
      This CHARACTER, however, DOES drink with kid there. This CHARACTER had the REALIZATION to "because I said so" with DRINK IN HAND. HENCE MY, say it with me, J-O-K-E.

      ​@@VersieKilgannonAhhhh, I see the mistake you made here. You've confused boomers with Gen X. boomers were the last generation that didn't need a dual income to survive. They were gifted all of the FDR benefits, with zero work, by their parents. But then they decided they should be the only generation who deserved those benefits, so they kicked the ladder out after they climbed it, making life infinitely harder for subsequent generations. Gen X were the first to *need* dual incomes to survive, while beginning to be priced out of the housing market and watching boomers kill unions. Millennials were the first generation to feel the full brunt of the boomers bitterness and hatred for all of their own descendents. I never understood why the boomers were so greedy, bitter, and desperate to destroy the world, yet that's our reality.
      Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z are the ones working multiple jobs just to make ends meet.

    Neither of my parents ever actually used the 'I said so' answer, they both always gave me a reason, and looking back they were also always good reasons, even if at the time I didn't like them/agree with them.

      Thats what I currently do with my daughter. Just like I have told her I will listen to any reasonable reason if she disagrees with me, and if she makes a valid point I would concede the point to her.

      This is what I have always done with my kids. After hearing it constantly from my mom, I promised I wouldn't say it to them. It sucks when that's all they say, but I understood to respect my mom and I wouldn't talk back.

    I don't have kids but my husband was complaining about his hand hurting so I offered to hurt his foot so he forgot about his hand. It was a common joke for my dad, or offering to cut off the part altogether. 😐😑

    Have used, "Because i said so" yet. I have said, "I'm to tired to explain it." Ive also had my mom walk into the room and both of us tell my kid "put you leg down and sit up." In the exact same time in the exact same way at the lunch table. All three of us looked horrified.

    I don't have kids yet, but I used to work with kids when I was a teenager. Kids weren't listening so I started scolding them and I heard my mother come out of my mouth. Not only did I discover what type of mother I'd probably be, I realized I was more similar to my mom than I thought.
