My swim team is finally getting back together after COVID and I can’t tell you how happy I am to get back in the water. I’ve been trying to get back into shape lately and this helps so much 💖

I learned how to swim when i was 7. My brother and fam learned before me. How i practiced was my mimi was at one end of the pool and i was on the other and ffs i would swim swim swim and then sink. But one day i got bored and no one was watching they were in the Jacuzzi. I took of my floaties and i booked it straight to them. They weren't really surprised. Now and days ive been trying to do it more efficiently like doing the actual fast swimming technique instead of doggy paddle or something else. And idk , no one in my fam races me or really gives me a challenge execpt my step dad who ive only raced once and lost by like a foot. So that's why i want to learn how to do this. I want to go striaght up to my step dad and win him in a race. And break his record of going back and fourth 4 times in a single breath. And our pool is pretty long😆. Ive only done one. With holding my breath for 30 seconds. And ive only done it a couple times. Lets say im fucking screwed i either have to hold my breath for 2 minutes or go so fast usan bolt finna lose. 😆
I can’t take my breath for long at all for about 18 seconds and when smiling way less my biggest fear is drowning I don’t swim straight like this people I basically make my body straight except for my chest I keep it out of the water to breath
I am doing the 800m Event. And I want to improve my upper body strength in the gym. Would you recomend to do conditioning strength training? So like doing reps of 30 instead of reps of 12 for example.
A few years ago, I couldn’t swim at all, I learned from my friends but no improvement in me. I started watching this kind of video, tried to figure out each movement, I kept learning everyday by myself for a month for 1 hour, finally I made it. I believe u can also do it. Best luck for u 🙂
Training to swim faster is subjective. Doing long sessions can and will improve your fitness, which in turn will cut those long swim times. You don't do 100m sprints to train for a marathon.

High reps are not strength training. Low reps with high weight is strength training.

Many marathon training plans do incorporate sprint training actually
