How about bronze bushed roller lifters? I once heard a Top Fuel crew chief say, Do you want to hit your crankshaft with a steel hammer or an aluminum hammer? I think that is why the aluminum rods work at high power levels. I love the Duster and not all A-Bodies need Gen III HEMI's.
People don't realize what it takes to do what you're doing. Not only big $, but top mechanical skills from engine to differential, chassis to electrical. Great job!
the factory lifter angle is a carry over from the A engine which was the poly318, and those heads need development, canted valve symetrical port SBM head, why hasn't it been done ?
I’ve been running those BAMs since 2019. Feeding coolant to the heads first and have feed lines in between those center ports would greatly reduce those issues. Good luck on Sick Week.
You need to reverse cool the engine the center 2 exh. ports is the hottest part of the cyl. head. Been a problem forever. If you pump, coolant from the radiator to that area of the head first then through the rest of the block will fix the problem. That is what I did when running a nitrous small block, 2 -16 lines one line on each side right to the head between the center 2 cylinders and 2 -10 lines out the sides of the block on each side.
This block looks a lot different than the Direct Connection SBM block from 1980 that I still have from decades ago, has the three 4 bolt main caps but rest of it is pretty conventional no extra head bolts stock lifter angle.
Man I wish you would have showed the other side of block I'm building a Ritter block all kinds of little problems your water holes are different are did you work on them great video Thanks 👍🏻
We used epoxy to close up the water holes in the deck and then drilled them to match the head gasket to help minimize water leaks at the head. We will have a build up video when it goes back together and we will try to cover this and show more of the block
@@Big3Racing man that would be great what intake up set are you using I was thinking of going with M&M trying to keep the cash down I'm happy as a kid in a candy store with this video build THANKS 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 🇺🇸
Bearings look great! I'm unsure if you can polish the rod big-end or if they need replaced? I guess depends on your rod side clearance & oil pressure issues/excessive run-off issues. Replace it when in doubt.
Swear i seen this car around town with a single turbo like couple years ago. Cant remember what car show i seen it at. Thought it was grace church or possible the dei carshow.
@@dusta340 i just remembered last night. It was when berea still had the carshows and we parked along front street in the square area is where i seen it.
Interesting analysis. Do they make sodium filled valves in that size? Or, for my Rube Goldberg idea, build a chute over that area about a foot high and fill it with ice cubes!
Something I would consider if I was you guys clean those combustion chambers real good on your head. I don’t know if you can do this or not since they’ve been run I don’t know if you could put a thermal barrier on that and help the heat situation with those intake valves being right next to each anyway good luck oh hey, why not diamond like coating On cam lobes
I would be cussing out whoever manufactured those lifters and possibly sending them the bill for thw refresh of the motor from the metal going through the motor from the lifter locking up.
Not how that works with performance and racing parts. They never claimed they are best suited for 4000 miles of driving. When my car breaks and I want blame some one I look in mirror. I chose to do this and I incurred the risk.
This is the first B3R video that I watched. I subbed and will be watching more 👍
Keep going guys, its a great build that is enjoyable to watch other SBM people getting it done on a high level!
Great vid. Glad to see the motor combo! You’ll be back and better than ever! Looking forward to it
Hey Bob. Long time no see. Proud of all you guys. You're living the dream!
Keep up the hard work brother ! 💪 love a bad ass smallblock mopar !!

that's what we are going too this time around

Very cool Mr.T Love your MOPAR.
That BAM bushed lifter with DLC coating sounds awesome!!

I like the Isky Red Zone bushed lifters.

It was single turbo for a few years. Probably seen it at the grace church show.

What brand lifters are those and what oil are you using? If you mentioned it I apologize, I must’ve missed it.
These where Morel lifters, we have had good luck with them over the years. We run Schaeffer oil
How was the oil pump ?

Pretty sure that David Vizard approves of your crank!

Get it (cam) spray welded and send back to cam builder
You can put A water i/ot pipe through there
Is block Aluminum ,Cast steel
it is cast iron

If the bam lifters don't work try hell cat If Don't
Geometry is much better in a 48* deal and your heads can be 15,13,11 etc instead of traditional 18* junk.
