Betty Kelly is actually better known than Annette as Betty was with the group longer and sang on more hits than Annette.

I wasn't born until Dec. 1978, but from watching videos, it seems whatever this weird affliction is, it started while she was still young, back in the 70s & its gotten worse over time. She still had her voice in the 70's so I'm guessing that she must have starting losing it in the late 80's early 90's? I have a DVD with her and fellow Motown singers from 1999 and she was tolerable then. I love Martha Reeves and hate that she lost her gift BUT she still gorgeous in 2022!! Them there eyes!!!
Dont agree with you about her voice sure the high register has lost the power impact through her age which is evident on the vibrato who cares? she has adapted well to this and punches out the power and past the vibrato up higher she holds those top notes with so much soul not one note out of tune. These girls had soul and raw natural talent. It is tragic that they did not get the attention that another girl group got during that era. If a bit more time and money would have been invested with Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, they would have been equally as successful.

Annette did not sing on Dancing in the Street. Annette had left by then and Betty Kelly sang on Dancing on the Street and all the hits thereafter.

It's not palsy she intentionally started singing like that around this time. I think she was trying to sound jazzy with vibrato. She sounds terrible.

I saw the original lineup in 1988. Martha has reunited with them intermittently over the years. These days she is singing with her sister.
