  • Superstar Charles Bronson headlines this super-cool crime series as a NYC freelance photographer assisting law enforcement and insurance agencies, but gets himself into plenty of trouble solving the crimes himself !
SECOND AVENUE ASSASSIN: Joey Savoyan, a professional boxer with a bad reputation from Mike's old neighborhood, has been winning fights that, unbeknownst to him, had been fixed. After being told by crime boss Willie Fletcher to take a dive, he asks Mike to get a picture that would help put Fletcher away.

Thank you for this series. I watched the show when it was first broadcast in the late '50s and was one of the reasons that I became an award-winning photojournalist.

Cool to see Tom Laughlin ("Billy Jack") in the role of Joey Savoyan. Ruta Lee was great as Dolly. The show summary doesn't match-up with the video. Oh well, still a great show.

What would a late 50s TV show be without Ruta Lee? PS: Very few had a build like Bronson in those days.

Man with a Camera is an American television crime drama starring Charles Bronson as a war veteran turned photographer and investigator.
Throughout the 1950s, Bronson spent most of his early acting career performing in TV shows as well as small parts in films, until he landed the lead in this ABC series. This is the only TV series in which he played the lead role.

    • @BrianCarnevaleB26

Also: Bronson portrayed Mike Kovac, a former Korean war combat photographer freelancing in New York City who specialized in getting the photographs that other lensmen could not. He usually assists newspapers, insurance companies, the police and private individuals, all of whom want a filmed record of an event.
By often acting as a private eye, Kovac gets himself into plenty of trouble involving criminals of every kind, helping with cases the police could not handle.
Besides an array of cameras for normal use, for surreptitious work Kovac employs cameras hidden in a radio, cigarette lighter and even his necktie. He also has a phone in his car, and a portable darkroom in the trunk where he could develop his negatives on the spot. Cutting edge technology for the time period. A series ahead of its time.
