daemon isnt insane or anything, he is direct, he chooses the most direct path to getting a task done, he is also a far better warrior than criston cole, he could have finished criston off at anytime he wanted tbf. he also loves his family and brother more than anything and would never do anything to harm them, all he did was show his brother tough love, otto twisted the context of daemon's words to make him look vindictive and vile but he was truly mourning.
You’re the first reaction channel I’ve watched to notice “the queen that never was” line is a compliment to her and actually an insult to the king, most ppl think the Baratheon is throwing shade at her for not being chosen but he’s not
Daemon is awesome! I mean there is a reason why he's G.R.R Martin's favorite Targaryen... "In his day there was not a man so admired, so beloved, and so reviled in all Westeros. He was made of light and darkness in equal parts. To some he was a hero, to others the blackest of villains" 🔥🖤
He is actually my favorite character and I watch this season about eight times the other person that I love more is Sir Harwin and unfortunately we didn’t get to see as much of him as I wanted. I thought he was an amazing character. I honestly wish he had been the one who had married Rhaenyra, because I think he was strong enough to handle that position and I guess it is what it is but I do love Damon
The Mad King and Rhaegar probably both knew the secret about the white walkers, but both died during Robert's Rebellion and the secret that was passed down died with them.
I think the secret will be lost between now and Aerys reign. I think the prophecy is what Rhaegar finds in his reading that leads to him wanting to become a warrior.
Don’t read further unless you’re okay with house of the dragon spoilers! It’s possible the knowledge was lost with rhaenyra when she was burned to death by Aegon, the only other person to have a clue about it was daemon who died earlier fighting aemond
IMHO the secret about the dagger was already lost at the end of the Dance of the dragons with the end of Rhaenyra line itself… She probably told her sons at some point but what would be her need to tell her half-siblings given their bad relationship. And I don’t think Viserys told it to his sons either. At least in the series. He told his heiress the secret should be kept and protected because it’s a powerful political leverage as it can be used as a « vision » of some sort. She didn’t needed to transmit it to anyone until the long winter signs.
The "Oh shitttt he got his shit rocked!!!" Through the tears from the emotions of the birth scene. Haha you two are some of the best reactors out there! Delightfully detailed in your paying attention, and also vulnerable and emotional 💜💜💜
I don't really get why so many people who watch this see Daemon as a universal villain. Yes he is brutal and impulsive but he clearly cares about his niece and brother. Hightower is very clearly manipulating the king.
I didn’t see Daemon as the villain here I noticed another “Little finger” type character and it wasn’t Daemon and later on this season because of the “Little Finger” type character we will also have a character whose “Margery and Cersei put together/ in one”.
@@aengusog3415 As I understand it the show is not 100% true to the book, because the book was an interpretation of known facts by unreliable sources, so I hope you enjoy seeing what it turned out like anyway.
Notice how Otto dismisses Corliss' report about the pirates and it's effect on trade, and introduces the less important subject of the tourney to King Viserys.
As far as I know, GRRM took a part in script writing. With his support and brilliant director like Miguel Sapochnik, this show has so much potential. Can't wait for more.
The Catspaw dagger never belonged to Littlefinger. That was a lie. It belonged to Robert Baratheon, and Joffrey stole it to pay off the assassin who tried to murder Bran.
Well, criminals in his eyes. There’s not much of a process to confirm these crimes before he maims them. Just basically grabbing any and everyone they deem criminal.
I think it was pretty obvious that not ALL of them werw criminals! They literally showed how guards randomly called out someone in the crowd...I doubt Daemon cared, he only wanted to make put an order through fear
A lot of reactors seem to think Rhaenyra being cupbearer is weird. She’s getting to see how politics are done without showing her hand or making a mistake. That’s leadership grooming right there
What makes this great is the very good actors and the fantastic dialogue + story + well made. Some of the most intense scenes are just brilliant acting around a table...
What a lot of people who haven't read the book don't know is that Daemon loves his brother Viserys. He wouldn't kill him and steal his crown! But Daemon is a rouge and can be very ruthless! I think Matt Smith is going to be absolutely amazing in his role
Do you reckon, Otto brought the idea of Rhaenyra to be the heir and pushing his daughter at the same time to the king, to buy some time so that the king brings/produces a male heir through Alicent (Otto's daughter) ??
I imagine dragon smell is like horse smell in the sense that it doesn't necessarily mean its bad but its a unique strong smell. Edit: the actor that was in the witcher played Dwalin in the hobbit. Really cool to see it here i like that actor
As a horse person and someone who grew up riding horses, my entire life yes I’m guessing the smell is similar. Well, you know what worn sweaty leather and horses smell like so I’m not guessing it’s much different on a dragon.
No, he arrested them. He neither killed them, nor maimed them. Also, Bronn is a pretty bad guy, anyway. People always seem to forget or overlook that because he's so likeable as a character. Daemon is pretty but too, but I think he has a lot more redeemable qualities. For one, he's loyal. Bronn's loyalty depends on how much he's paid.
How are people so blind to the Hand of the King who obviously has his eyes for more power and pimps out his own daughter to the King? And we never actually see Daemon make that toast and in what context.
I think if the prophecy lasted to the Mad King, he would have told Rhaegar, because he was the heir up until his death, at which time the Mad King was likely too cooked to get that message to Viserys before they snuck him away to Dragonstone.
The secret just might've confirmed the change in Rheagar. He is said to read something that changed him, he suddenly wanted to become a knight and was obsessed with prophecies from then on. The mad king mustve told him or written it. What a chill inducing scene and to think Bran must've seen that hence giving the dagger to Arya and plotted on putting a Targ on the throne regardless of the consequence
Yes! Been waiting for the two of you to get on this. This show will be a great chance to grow you're channel! Loved the first episode. It needs to be next Sunday already.
Daemon looks like a problem and more on the shallow side he looks really cool. Rhaenyra seems to be very intelligent, the fact that she's well read, knows her history and also the effort she's making to know what's happening in their kingdom by being the "King's cup bearer".
That's really sweet what you said before the episode. I commented on a trailer reaction that I totally wasn't excited about this - it's not really offering anything new. But this episode completely changed my mind. Daemon is an a-hole, but after that conversation they had in the throne room, you can tell he's an a-hole, but he 'cares' - in his own way - for his family. At least he believed that up till that point. Interesting characters all of them. Curious to see what Otto Hightower - who now seems like a snake -, and Corlys Velaryon will do. Can't wait till the next ep
The Mad King, Aerys, probably told his heir Rhaegar. Who was killed by Robert. Vicerys was 5, I think, and their mother was pregnant with Dany, when they filed to Dragonstone. So the story most likely died with Rhaegar
30:30 To be fair, we don't even know if the promise was kept alive throughout those years. I doubt the mad king would know or believe the prophecy, nor would he even pass it on to his kids.
The Mad King didn't start out mad, during the early years of his reign people were actually really optimistic about his rule. And by the time he did go mad, Rhaegar was already an adult an his only child, so clearly the heir. Chances are he would have passed the secret on. This might also be how Rhaegar got it into his head that he needed to make a prophecy baby. If there was a king who was likely to have ignored the prophecy and not passed it along it would have been Aegon the Unworthy.
Also Dany's brother Viserys in Season 1 of GoT was the second son he wasn't the heir their older brother Rhaegar was the heir and he died on the trident so even if the prophecy had made it to the Mad King which I don't think it does would have been lost with Rhaegar when Robert killed him.
It said the King tells their Heir, Dany and her brother weren’t the oldest heir they had another brother, and they both died Father and Heir, so the secret died with the both of them
The thing about the prophecy being past down is that Viserys nor Dany were the heir to the throne during the time of Robert's Rebellion. Rhaegar was and then after him was his son with Elia Martell, who was only an infant at the time. I also highly doubt this prophecy got passed down far enough down the line to even make it to the Mad King. So even if it made it to the Mad King the only person who would have known was the Mad King and Rhaegar, the heir. They only seem to past it down to the heir, which Viserys and Dany weren't.
About that when Jhon snow meets Danny for the first time in dragon stone Lady melisande (the red sorser)told varys she dan her part and reunited the ice & fire together so she knew the profesy that king vysyrise told her daughter rinyra
On the subject of passing on the Northern threat from King to Heir-- King Aerys' (mad king) heir would have been Raegar (Jon Snow's Dad and brother to Dany and Viserys) but he too got killed by Robert Baratheon. So that infomation got lost after Raegar unless he was able to tell Viserys. But by that time, Robert is king and Viserys got killed by Khal Drogo while in excile.
I have been following you both for some time now and have always loved your reactions! Always love learning more about you both! I also definitely was both of you at the C-Section scene
If the Mad King told anyone of the Song of Ice and Fire prophecy it would have been Daenerys’ older brother Rhaegar, who was killed by Robert Baratheon in the Battle of the Trident. The prophecy would have died with him.
Me having no knowledge of the books I get the sense that daemon and rhaenyra are actually closer to each other then some might think. Time will tell I guess.
Technically the prophecy did come true since two Targaryens (Dany and Jon) were the ones who managed to get everyone together to fight the whitewalkers
Not really only the North and danys people fought the long night when it was supposed to be all of westaros and they didn't stop the long night arya did d&d butcherd the prohacy as they did the series itself.
I love the reason you started the channel because I found you a year after you posted all of this and I love your wife’s reactions. She is honestly one of the reasons I subscribe to you now I think you’re not good. I just love her reactions because they mirror mine.
35:17 mad king and Dany's eldest brother Rhaegar knew it mad king's parents were siblings they married eachother bcz they believed their line will end this and then they married mad king to his sister bcz of that vision but they were not happy couple to compare other Targaryen couples then again Rhaegar wanted Lyanna Stark bcz he was believed their child will end long night
Rhaenys was never in the running to be heir. But there is no precedent in a monarchy. The kings word is law. So the writers tried to sneak that in. Yet, they ignore the lords who broke their oath and pledged fealty to Rhaenyra.
😂 Daemond loves his brother he would never kill him to take his throne. Does he want to be heir? Hell yes, but he does not want it through that now maybe marrying Rhaenyra to get that throne but never killing his brother. I watched this season eight times never has he ever shown a sign that he wants to take that throne from his brother until his brother dies from natural causes.😊
Great reaction!! - Westeros before Aegon was divided in wars between all the houses... the Dream was Targaryen must maintain all houses align to fight the 'Long Night' beside the dragons and valyrian steel... and if we think about it, that's why every major house holds a valyrian sword. That was an old theory that in this first episode was shown to all of us! - HotD story is just amazing and will be more breathtaking and cruel than all 8 seasons of GoT!! . . . P.S: a litlle tiny spoiler: Daemon is the key! It was the fear of Daemon becoming a second Maegor the Cruel that made all of this!!... but he loves his brother and his family, unconditionally!!!!... but on his own way.
I personally don't think a lack of source material brought down the OG show. You can still make a good original story, whether its based on existing source material or not. I think the showrunners just didn't care anymore and wanted to wrap the show quickly. For House of the Dragon, the book it's based on is more like a broad history book with not much detail so the show has had to create and fill in the gaps.
I agree 1000% that the king should have given the queen a choice. As someone who’s had two boys who were breach, thank God for modern medicine I still told my doctors, regardless of what happened and save my babies. And I think the queen would’ve done the same thing and I agree that she should’ve been given a choice, but there was really no choice for the king other than maybe telling his queen. Because they would’ve both died a very long and very painful death, there was no way this child was going to be born. In my case one child would’ve broke his neck because he got hooked in my pelvic bone as I was trying to push them out. My other son was butt first I would never have come out on his own. I know what labor pain felt like to be in that labor pain for days, which can’t happen, trying to deliver a breech baby. I would’ve gladly taken what happened with her over that. And I think that I can speak on that with some impunity because I’ve been situated in that position twice. In medieval times both my boys and I would have died or we would’ve had this option. In some cases the baby lives in this case, the young prince did not, however the queen was going to die either way, and the king was not at fault for realizing that.
The Mad King probably did tell his son Raegar. Raegar had his own prophetic dream, so he needed more children, but his wife Princess Elia had difficult births, so instead of making her bear more children he divorced her in secret and remarried Lyanna to have more children. If the Mad King didn't tell Raegar it's stated that Raegar was obsessed with prophecies so he had his own thing going. This is all book stuff, I'm not sure how much of this is true for Raegar in the show.
i will never forgive viserys for what he did to aemma. you can argue that he had no choice, but he chose to put her in that position time and time again no matter how many times she lost the babies. he also could have had the decency to explain to her what was happening, but he couldn’t even give her that, she died scared and in pain at the hands of the person who was supposed to protect her.
The mad King got killed when Daenny was a baby, so he did get to tell em And Aemon on the Wall, was a Targeryan, and almost became King, he turned it down
Viserys is supposed to be in his mid to late thirties in this show. Not the greatest actor to portray that age, but that's what he's supposed to be :P So 100 is a little high. :P
Good on you guys for recognizing the cats paw dagger. Not many did - even with them knowing that the King was describing Aegon's dream of the Long Night.
Rhaegar was the mad king heir Danny's older brother Jon Snow dad but he was killed in the battle of trident Robert Baratheon killed him so Aegon dream ended with Rhaegar
The Mad King's heir was Rhaegar not Viserys. Rhaegar was Jon Snow's father with Lyana Stark, which is why Jon was the rightful heir to the throne. If Aegon's dream had made it all the way to the Mad King it would have been Rhaegar who would have been told. Not a huge book expert, by I recall people saying that Rhaegar was obsessed with histories and prophecy. They also mention that when he became of age, he was suddenly very serious and stern.

Omgg guyss, I was waiting for ur reaction ❤️ good to be back in westeros
Three mark out moments for me.
Dracarys
Dark Sister
Catspaw
They treat Corlys Velaryon like Worf from StarTrek:TNG
😂 Daemond loves his brother he would never kill him to take his throne. Does he want to be heir? Hell yes, but he does not want it through that now maybe marrying Rhaenyra to get that throne but never killing his brother. I watched this season eight times never has he ever shown a sign that he wants to take that throne from his brother until his brother dies from natural causes.😊
Funny that Rhaenyra’s biggest rival isn’t even born yet
Great reaction!!
- Westeros before Aegon was divided in wars between all the houses... the Dream was Targaryen must maintain all houses align to fight the 'Long Night' beside the dragons and valyrian steel... and if we think about it, that's why every major house holds a valyrian sword. That was an old theory that in this first episode was shown to all of us!
- HotD story is just amazing and will be more breathtaking and cruel than all 8 seasons of GoT!!
.
.
.
P.S: a litlle tiny spoiler: Daemon is the key! It was the fear of Daemon becoming a second Maegor the Cruel that made all of this!!... but he loves his brother and his family, unconditionally!!!!... but on his own way.
you guys are so dope your channel is for sure gonna grow so much keep it up :)
Been waiting for this to drop ✅
Cool backdrop, looks like Kubrick 👍
Much respect from The U.K. 🇬🇧
nice calming intro.
Love your channel been subbed from the beggining
You 2 have zero clue what is about to go down. Prepare to be surprised and I'll be here for it.
I believe the Red Wedding set off what we know as reaction videos today
the girl is such a mood through the whole vid, i was the same during watching the ep
I took Rhaenyra to be like an Arya/Dany cross
Never thought I'd care about this world after season 8 of GoT, but here we are.
I'm watching every ep1 reaction just to see how ppl are made believe Daemon to be the villain lol.
21:07 she goes from 😭😔💔 to 😮😬😝🤪
I agree 1000% that the king should have given the queen a choice.
The King was probably trained as a swordsman, but he’s definitely nowhere near Daemon’s skill level.
Why'd you cut the DRACARYS scene?
Points for the “grinding the rail comment.
What is the head of Intelligence in Redania doing in kings landing?
It took the Nights Watch, but wasn’t Jon technically a Targaryen?
The story may not pan out as you predict it will.it is in the world of game of thrones after all.
The civil war isn't going to be between Rhaenyra and Daemon
Finally! Been waiting for your HOTD reaction! ☺
13:55 To be fair Otto talked about daemons wife first lol daemon just reacted and destroyed Otto :)
Dude he's like a 100.
he's only 35 here
i will never forgive viserys for what he did to aemma. you can argue that he had no choice, but he chose to put her in that position time and time again no matter how many times she lost the babies. he also could have had the decency to explain to her what was happening, but he couldn’t even give her that, she died scared and in pain at the hands of the person who was supposed to protect her.
The mad King got killed when Daenny was a baby, so he did get to tell em
And Aemon on the Wall, was a Targeryan, and almost became King, he turned it down
The Queen was going to die regardless so at least he gave the baby a chance to live.
Can't wait for the remaining season reactions. 🙌🙌🙌🤞
Viserys is supposed to be in his mid to late thirties in this show. Not the greatest actor to portray that age, but that's what he's supposed to be :P
So 100 is a little high. :P
Maybe Rhaegar knew that's why he married Lyanna😉
Nice first episode, right, Madison & Christian! The night is dark and full of terrors... 😉
Hope you guys enjoy it because I very much am
Jon Snows real father. I forget his name. Rhaegar maybe would have been the mad kings heir. Maybe he knew but died.
Actually, no. The civil war is between Rhaenyra and Alicent.
They also mention that when he became of age, he was suddenly very serious and stern.
i was wiating for you guys to react ... what took you so long
Madison is a head trainer at her company. She started training a new location this week so her work schedule is all wonky right now. Lots of our videos for the next 2 weeks will probably be late just fyi
