Revellers in Tokyo are celebrating the Kanda Matsuri for the first time in four years. One of Japan’s three largest Shinto festivals, it normally takes place every other year, but was cancelled in 2021 because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The 2023 celebrations will be under way in the Japanese capital from May 11-17.

Don’t blame me for mistaking this as a bar mitzvah if someday I happen to be there.
