Japan's COVID level is already 1, the lowest. Prolly next year it'd be back to all normal... I miss the packed Baseball games and the tremendous energy and enthusiasm.
It is depends on their religion, Abrahamic religion usually destroy this kind of old culture because most of Japanese who doing this festival is Shinto. It's mean, when most of Japanese people still with their beliefs, I Think this festival will never disappear.
That was fun. Nice to see lots of young people carrying on the tradition. More fun with friends, I suspect so you have a better chance at getting home after all the drinking. More on craft beer please! I don’t drink much myself but I find the industry very exciting.
I participated in a mikoshi matsuri a few years back in Kashiwa in Chiba prefecture. That was super fun, really painful for the shoulders and everyone got so drunk :D We went on for almost 12 hours I think. But one of my best experiences I have had in Japan.
Great job Paolo!! I see that you're covering more unique things in Japan unlike the generic stuff. Been watching a few of your video and I'm seeing improvements from one video to another!!! Keep up the awesome updates!
I was at Sanja Matsuri in Asakusa this past may. It was amazing and I was so happy to catch it. I'm normally not a parade or festival person but I tend to enjoy Japanese and other Asian parades/festival infinitely more so than others so I fully embraced it (Sanja Matsuri) and would love to make it next year possibly.
Super interesting video. Nice how everybody there had a great time. And Naoto seems to be a really nice guy to hang out with :) too funny when he commented the taste of the curry ;)
For me As a Nepali ... (Newari) i feel like Japanese culture so much similar to newari culture ... we have jatra in nepal .. various different kinda jatra like indra jatra and kumari jatra etc ... where we all people participate in pull the shrine around the city ...
Awesome video Paolo! I remember seeing this in Gotanda back in the day and I couldnt believe how big some of the bruises and lumps were on people necks and shoulders from carrying the mikoshi, was crazy and an amazing experience, the entire community was part of it and the streets were completely blocked everywhere in every direction, what a great time!
Great video , well spoken narrative of the festival & your nice friends. Keep it up as nowadays some people just can’t afford to travel, but through you we can learn & admire Japans culture!! Thx.
I truly enjoyed this video, it gave me culture and a fun look at traditions. Naoto is a friend everyone could want, you and he made my day guys, thanks.
That looks fun! I know carrying around over 1 tonne is not fun at all, but doing it with friends makes it all the better. Sharing the same experience, ya know! Also, an inside look at Japanese craft beer would be cool and educational. Thanks for sharing!
That's a great video that's so easy to follow! In Japan, Omatsuri(festival) are the total art of each community. You've become part of that hundreds of years of total art. I love Omatsuri too!

Remember the time when people were allowed to be that close? What a time that was to be alive
Give it 5-6 months and it will be over, either through the most vulnerable population dying and everyone else gaining immunity or widespread vaccines.
Japan's COVID level is already 1, the lowest. Prolly next year it'd be back to all normal... I miss the packed Baseball games and the tremendous energy and enthusiasm.
More of Naoto pls 😊
Drunk Naoto was the best part !!! 😜

On 5:04 it's so sweet to see your partner "in crime" come and discreetly protect you from the rain with her umbrella. She's a keeper 💕
This is why I love your contents. I found myself smiling the whole time.
Naoto is a GOAT! I bet he would be fun to hang out with
I carried one of the Mikoshi during my first visit to Japan in 2018. It's a lot of fun 😄😄👍🏻👍🏻 amazing experience 😄😄

Please dont ever change, Japan. Your culture is awesome.
It is depends on their religion, Abrahamic religion usually destroy this kind of old culture because most of Japanese who doing this festival is Shinto. It's mean, when most of Japanese people still with their beliefs, I Think this festival will never disappear.

Wow 550 years old! So cool that tradition goes back that far. I didn't know you had to wear the traditional uniform before you could touch it
That was fun. Nice to see lots of young people carrying on the tradition. More fun with friends, I suspect so you have a better chance at getting home after all the drinking. More on craft beer please! I don’t drink much myself but I find the industry very exciting.
