      Its because its slightly slower than the auto if you can drive and most ppl can't drive a manual at all or can't drive it worth a shit if they can drive it. The younger guys who never had to learn how to row the gears themselves just don't get what it is we love about it. It truly is a lost art it is so rewarding and you can still run some pretty fast times not much slower than an auto if you can drive. There is always somebody faster so to totally give up all the fun in exchange for 2 or 3 tenths at the drag strip just don't make sense to me unless you're actually competitively competing at the track otherwise it makes 0 sense to me. Il always drive a manual I dont care how out of date it is

    Alex, you should do a comparison where you do a 1/4 mile run on the street, and then go to the track under very similar weather conditions to get an idea of how much of a difference can be seen between street/strip.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 3 года назад

      @@jmmdcrew depends how the car is geared and where the powerband is. If your car does 75-80 or better in 2nd and you can really row them gears it might be beneficial starting it in 2nd its best just to try both and see it is really vehicle and gearing specific. The shift dont take long at all if you powershift so if you're starting too low in the powerband it might offset it but like I said best to test both and see what is best for every setup

    This shows that the 11-17 mt82 is so much desirable compared to the 18-20... with how good the 10r80 is, is a no brainer over the mt82. Yes it aint going to be the same driving experience i know but so much more potential “in my most humble of opinions” Nice driving tho Alex that clutch hated them quick shifts for sure

    • @michaelharris748
      @michaelharris748 4 года назад

      The gearing sucks on these for na it really hurt them...even with the power bump they aren't much quicker than the older manuals that is why there is such a gap performance wise stock for stock the 10r80 got killer gearing while the mt82 got worse gearing (for na). Now the 373 with a blower may be ok but na it sucks compared to the older trans ratio with 373. 331 on the old trans was better gearing than 373 is on the new trans to give you an idea. They really screwed the pooch with the new manual it's almost like they want ppl to dislike manual. They dont even try to make it good or desirable. I think blown cars should run 4.10 with the new trans gears unless you're running alot of boost and 150-160 trap speeds and 456 gears for na cars that is what it would take to resemble 373 gears with the old gearing alot of ppl dont realize just how different the gearing is between 11-17 and 18 up manuals. 373 on this trans is not even close to 373 with the older trans.

Didn't want to buy the whipple first and still be fighting the transmission, so boost will be another year out for me at the least. Alex, while the data logs show 8000 rpms, you're actually shifting earlier...Your tach is not wrong. You can see in the logs where your Throttle position goes to zero as you lift but the RPM keeps climbing. Clearly see a spike. Electronic throttle blade delay for emissions? You think you can tune that delay out?
    Love the new intro much better!

    Yeaaaa man its been bugging the shit out of me that I haven't gotten to do better than a 11.5 with my blower. Too damn hot! Killer chiller drag pack on the way next month!

    I wish you could have gotten baseline pulls on the draggy when it was stock. Watching what people were running with the stock car on youtube kept me away from getting a stick gen 3

    I love trying to race in a manual car! I did trade my Lund tuned 2017 Mustang GT in for a stock 2020 Mustang GT 10 speed, but I definitely will get another manual Mustang sometime.

    Do you think motor mounts - steeda motor mounts for example - would help alleviate some of the knock activity on shifts due to the motor being more solidly mounted to the car? Or make it worse?

    If you had to do it again would you go with centri blower or switch it up to TVS like on your other car ? I’m on the fence to which route to go with on my manual 18.
