In this piece of text, the author explores in depths of abnormal use of the language, Guugu Yimithirr. It is a lingo of indigenous Australians, widely used in northern Queensland. The language itself does not have specific words for “left”, “right”, “backward” or “forwards”. Instead, they communicate using the position of the compass. It is a common course of action for them to situate themselves by giving elusive cues from the compass. However, if they travel further by a large scale, they could potentially hinder their ability to convey their message.
