This game is wild- getting SO MUCH of the movie cast involved without just pulling lines from the movie is something that never happens anymore and probably never will. I miss the time where video games were so special and cool, and actors were slightly more approachable (and less expensive), where that could happen.
Movie licensed games used to feel like such a curse, but now I replay so many of them fondly looking back at how much fun some of them were!
Yeah it's pretty rare to have a movie based game that actually features the original cast. The only one that I can think of other than this was the 2005 King Kong game.

@@CantRead1 actually no, I did not say that in regards to movie license games specifically. As the sentence says, I was just talking about video games in general. They were something people still found relatively new, impressive, and more of an “event” when a big one comes out. Not a lot of big event games anymore because they’re so common and there’s so many options. Actors don’t want to do movie license games anymore because
1) they know they can get millions for every appearance and games can’t afford them
2) they aren’t as big a deal as they used to be, it isn’t as “new and cool” to be in one as it used to be

Not gonna lie, I still love this game. Specially the moment you get to control the Black suit for the first time, how Peter falls from the sky, crashing in the ground and then destroying the Punks with _that_ theme in the background... so good!

I remember getting the 360 version and a friend getting the ps2 version and we both had a complete different understanding of the Spider-Man 3 game. He mentioned vampires and I’ve been curious ever since.

This was my first Spidey game experience on PS2. I remember the days when people were just hype of any new superhero games without checking out reviews

I remember this game when I played it as a kid. And even back then it was buggy crap. But I have to admit to this day: The skill tree and open world was astounding. You had so many abilitys and the venom suit was really something else. It really made you feel mighty and was exponentially harder to to put off the more you progress the game.

This game was amazing. For its time ofcourse. Something the Marvel's spiderman game doesn't have that this game does is immediately going into the webcrawl after swinging into a building and a simple high jump button instead of having to press different buttons and time them

The swinging was actually really fun in the PS2 version as well. Although it was such a downgrade from Spider Man 2. They put all the effort on PS3 version.

I'm voting for The Simpsons Game. Definitely top 5 best Simpsons games ever. Fun Co-op game. Not sure if the PS2 port was good compared to the other versions though. Twilight PS2 ports are always a gamble. I remember wanting the 360 because of that weird & probably unfinished open-world Springfield level. I wouldn't mind see Chicken Run later as I heard it was decent. Like a kiddie version of Metal Gear Solid.
The Simpsons game on PS2 did not have an explorable Springfield hub world, character idle animations were missing and some levels were cut on ps2. Also some gameplay items like Bart's laser eye beam helmet from the museum level were absent. I was honestly shocked when I eventually played the 360 version.
"Top 5 Simpsons games" isn't an achievement. There aren't even 5 good Simpsons games.

This game was actually pretty good for its time. Dunno what's so bad about it, regardless of it being a port or not. The character models look great for a PS2 game, & it looks like there's a lot to do in both side & main content departments. I just might pick this up.
the web swinging just feels bad, worse than most other Spider-Man games. Since you spend so much of the game swinging, it's a big deterrent

I remember read a bad review, get the game anyway. I ended up loving it more than 2. Bu I hate the final boss, it's such a let down compare to ps3 version.

The black suit gameplay was fire in this game but you couldn't use it all the time after a while you had to switch to normal suit.
yeah that was the only improved mechanic in this game, wish that was part of the 360/PS3 version as well

The repetitive gang missions got really boring so I never did them. I just swung around the city even though I knew it looked like crap. XD
The most hilarious gang was the all girl gang Arsenic Candy which apparently formed when their leader lost a fashion show and in the last part of their side mission the leader tries to force a guy she took hostage to marry her.

They're ultimately pointless too. Your reward for taking down all the gangs is to use your black costume whenever you want. But by then... what are you even supposed to use it for anymore?

I was stuck with this version when I was a kid so this game the closest thing I had to a good open world Spider-Man game before 2018, I spent too much time swinging around NYC and thinking it was the most immersive thing ever
I had all spidey games for the PS2, excluding the first movie based game, but Spider-Man 2 was too difficult and complex to younger me, so I spent more time on Spider-Man 3, Ultimate and even Friend or Foe lmao

I absolutely loved this game when it was released and I view it as a classic to this day! It might have just been my childhood naivety that made SM3 seem so great but I still get nostalgic about it either way. Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is probably the only Spider-Man game that I can say is closer to my heart than this one. With that being said, this review video was awesome and I greatly enjoyed the commentary LOL

I remember playing the game and not being able to pass the first level because my 7 years old arms were too weak. I started punching the controller on the triangle and my mom scolded me lol. I gave up and called my father everytime I decided to play the game.

The best part of the game was being able to switch between suits during regular gameplay almost like web of shadows
I remember I used to play this version on the Wii like 8 years ago and could never get past the giant Lizard fight for the longest time, I was too terrified of that and the Kraven section before where he gets that huge drill. Probably got a bit of trauma from that but it's fine lol

Yea it was a giant step backwards from Spider-Man 2 on the PS2. I really didn’t like it, but somehow I still played the crap out of it several times. I remember just loving the sound the punches would make while fighting in the black suit.

I had something similar happen, I was playing Lego Dc Villians today and I was on the part where you had to try and show harleys video in the gala, there was this guy cowering in the corner so I ran over to him (not even touching/attack him by the way) and the man just phases through the floor
I still remember renting the PS2 version. I’ve always loved Spiderman 2 on the gamecube and was incredibly happy when I rented the game but once I started it, I noticed how much of a downgrade it was. It felt janky, unpolished and overall, it was a mess of a game but I still liked it because it was a new game for me. Eventually I had to return it.
Time passes and I had enough money to get the PS3 version and OMG, the PS3 version was sooooo much better. I’ll never understand how someone can say the PS2 version was the superior one, aside from obvious nostalgia blindness.
Though I like the different cutscenes, more story and how you can’t die from heights in the PS2 version, the PS3 version still takes the W for me.

The PC version was actually very tough to play and was very different from this. Defusing those bombs was also a tough thing and not just smacking them.

You guys should play Fantastic 4 (the movie game). Honestly it’s linear, but like Spiderman 2 the game, I had tons of the comic book villains. It has co-op, it has a mole man, it has dinosaurs, it has space monsters, and it has a bland man who is the father of a blind woman. Honestly, it’s pretty good for what it is and makes Susan Storm (the member with the most powers and literally is better than Jean Grey pre-Phoenix saga) actually have more than her force fields and invisibility; she has her telekinesis via her force fields….now only if she could use them to hover, we’d be set.

It’s still kinda cool how the psp version and the ps2 version are the same with some open world added to it.
I actually preferred the PS2 version over the PS3 version. Black suit didn’t feel like a simple reskin but actually made you feel more powerful
