With MTurk, workers have a selection of thousands of tasks to complete and each task is called a HIT (human intelligence task) You get paid per HIT that you complete.
But how much money can you actually make by completing these HITs?
The average is said to be only $2 an hour. Only 4% of workers earned more than $7.25 an hour. But others claim that you can make much more. I've found with my experience that $9-$12 an hour is pretty attainable once you learn the ropes of this side hustle. Within a few months of consistent work, it's entirely possible to begin earning $25+ per hour
Examples of jobs that you would do with MTURK are:
Surveys
Take pictures of obscure objects in your environment
Audio transcriptions
Transcribe receipts or data
Voiceovers
Some of the most important MTURK tips I've learned:
► Work at the ideal times - mornings have a lot of good hits, but lunchtime and the evening do not. Also the month of December through the first week of January generally have less available work due to the holidays and universities being closed.
► Use a HIT catcher - MTurk Suite, a Chrome extension, has a really good one
► Join a community - I really like the Facebook group called Mturk Members.
► Some higher-paying HITS require special qualifications, it's a good practice to click "qualify" (Request qualification for higher-paying hits that you don't yet qualify for) whenever possible so you can begin working hiring paying jobs.
► Occasionally you will receive high paying jobs in your email inbox! These are follow up emails from requesters on MTURK, it's best practice to complete these jobs.
► Some of the biggest pros of Mturk are - You can complete this work from the comfort of your own home. You can stop when u get tired and work at your own pace. Even an extra $20-$40 each week really adds up and can be a good side hustle!
► Some of the biggest cons of Mturk are - it is time-consuming, it pays low wages (sometimes), if you're not in the US you can only get paid with Amazon Gift Card and not cash. Also I've heard that if you're not in the US, it's hard to get good hits.
Overall I've been very happy with my experience with this 12+ hour MTURK challenge. My earnings were better than I expected and I look forward to continuing using Amazon Mechanical Turk as a decent side income.

Hi there hello- super important tip:
When doing MTURK as a side hustle, it’s *crucial to maintain your approval rating* above 99%. Avoid making newbie mistakes like catching bad requesters or doing an entire batch incorrectly, this will cause your approval rating to quickly plummet into the 80% percentile, which will pretty much destroy your account. Remember that high approval rating = better paying jobs. Good luck with the grind 💪
