Hey everyone who says its hard to get a girl or wife 😄 are you serious, I cannot find such motivated guy, I've been supporting my ex when he had no job but he couldn't complete his study just playing games whole day.
Im a restaurant manager with a degree in math/stat looking to change careers. Youre transperancy about the anxiety of taking the leap into a new field is inspiring and motivating. I appreciate your videos.
Yup, I have a degree in physics and a minor in applied math (graduated in July 2020) and I'm a courier delivery driver for UPS and I'm still trying to change my career either into data analytics or becoming a high school physics teacher. I'm finding it harder to get into analyst roles though, maybe that's just my perception though.
I was an army regular on their scholarship and serve for 14 years and always wanted to go commercial. The day I step out I literally send almost 1,000 Jon applications with like 2 interviews, and I have an MBA. And I didn’t get any of those jobs, man it was hard. Then I get out to reach out to anybody I know or even just met once, and got referred to a defence tech job as project manager, then ,9 months later, I met an ex army regular whom I only seen his face once and never spoken and went up to him and just chat. Two days later he called me up and I end up as a project manager for a software company. One things leads t9 another and I ended up working for a software MNC for many years. Point is, it’s going to get really hard, and at times you really want to give up. When that happen, read this message again and believe me, keep trying , keep reaching out, keep learning, and things will surely open up. Wish you well
This video is two years old but the message is so direct to me. Migrating from Nigeria turned me into a care assistant, having my first child means I need to readjust for my family. Over the years I've procrastinated over my Tech desire but this video just told me I can start today and now. Thank you for sharing your experiences. My data analysis journey just began here
i will suggest you 365 data science and some eBooks pdf , sir for learning. you will definitely going to be successful and hope you will give a great future to the family.
Alex, THANK YOU. The pandemic affected our jobs, and thus our family is in dire straits. I worked in non-profits, but the doors closed. At age 48, both my husband and I are pivoting hard to shift careers and support our family of 5. After my own research, I decided to work hard to become a data analyst. I am already well into schooling for it. I am still so intimidated, but I love learning!! Today I found your channel. Now I KNOW I can do this! Thank you for sharing your experience. It has inspired me to put 150% into this new journey. And now I am off to watch the rest of your content! Give Max a hug!
This video is helping me but this comment (your comment) honestly helped me the most! I also am feeling intimidating, I'm 28 & motivated to learn but again was feeling intimated. I hope your schooling went well & your succeeding.
Your story is so helpful.. I come from a culinary arts degree, a modest family background, and want to work as an analyst. It seems so incredibly daunting. This has helped. Thank you.
Thank you Alex! I'm 36 years old and aiming to change a career from a call center agent to a data analyst. I am still learning needed skills (Excel, SQL, Power BI) to land my first job as a junior data analyst. I know it is difficult for my age but I will give it my best this year ^o^
When making a career change, especially one not related to your previous education or experience, it's so easy to feel like you're going down an uncharted path. This video, a lot of your other content, truly make me feel like I'm not alone in this path I've taken. The first time I've ever felt that in the 1.5 years I have into my own change. Thank you so much, keep up the priceless content!
I'm super happy to hear that Ben! That really is why I started this channel in the first place! I was so lost when I first started out and I'm hoping to help people not have to randomly figure it out like I did. Thanks for watching!
Incredibly grateful to have stumbled across this channel! Have been learning SQL, Tableau and Python for 2 months now as I try to transition away from mechanical engineering (no interest in it), but I have had no real life relatable person to be inspired by until now. Motivated to keep going and also to purchase some jalapeños.
Im am trying to accomplish the same thing ( Transition from mechanical engineering to DA or ML) we could learn together or share the learning path if u don't mind :)
Well thank you for the spelling of tableau and also it just hit me what the SQL stands for! Haha ...and here I thought he meant sequel...like in movies!
I wanted to comeback and say I got my first Data Analyst job starting at 70k (coming from a highly technical area helped with that salary) Thanks again Alex your channel was great motivation
@Alex I started crying at about 14 minutes in because it's so similar to how I feel right now. I only just recently discovered data and once I began researching more about it, I was hooked and I decided that I want data to be my job. I cried because I feel the same as you did: so passionate and ambitious with a great attitude, but very little knowledge starting out. Your story has really given me the confirmation that I can do this as well, and it has fueled my decision to keep charging forward. I can't wait to be where you are. Inspiring!
This man had the perfect formula, hunger, the pressure, the direction, mentors and the big dragon to slay or "big leagues" as he said. Face the scariest thing you can find and retrieve the knowledge. Thank you for sharing.
The best 40 minutes I have spent on RUclips so far. Alex, thank you so much for telling your story. It gives me hope and motivation to continue the journey. The endless job search, the rejection, the frustration make me feel that getting a data analyst position is beyond my dream, I'm always scared that it would never happen to me at all. Another reason I love listening to you that you may never think of, is your voice. It shows such a huge amount of care, calm, and motivation that makes me feel calm and "everything will be all right" when listening to it. Thank you and please keep up your amazing work.
The great thing about "Jr" titles/levels of jobs, is that the expectation is that the will train/mold you into their data analyst. It's perfect for just starting out in a technology role.
I have never, ever stuck with a video on RUclips ever for this long. Beyond the inspiration I have gained from watching this video, you appear to be a genuinely nice human being. I thank you all the way from London. I've got so many questions I would like to ask you, but thats for another time ... Jalapenos
Looking to change careers in mid 40s, no degree but determined..any one else in the same category . Jalapeños!!. Thank you Alex. I just got me a strategy.
Will turn 40 in a couple months, so I guess I'm there with you. Changing career from accounting and finance, started on my own with Power Pivot, R , SQL and now Power BI. Let's do this!!!
I am 44. Maths is my background. Been a banker for 12yrs. Ready to swith to DA. I will be in the UK to study Msc Data Science Analytics this September. Am wirh u bro
I am 50 and having worked in IT for over twenty years (system administration, networking and latterly systems management), I'm ready to slide into the cloud and look at analytics too. I'm focused on Google Cloud right now, so I have an eye on the Google Cloud Associate and this Professional Certificate in Analytics, hoping to apply some of that to wherever my career goes in the latter part of my two-legged life! Good luck everyone!!
I just decided to become an analyst this month when I found coursera. Everyone has always known somewhat what they wanted to study and I never knew until I found this. It's such a nice relieving feeling knowing what your career is going to be. It seemed scary at first but I just started watching your videos and I'm feeling a lot more confident so thank you!
Hi Alex, I´m in the process of becoming a Data Analyst my self through self teaching and online courses, and I really find your videos inspiring, since it is a very rough experience for a 44 years old business administrator that wants to relaunch his career. Will be eating a lot of Jalapenos when I get it!!! THANKS!!!
Jalapeño! Worthy 40 mins spent. Myself being an undergrad CS student who’s trying to make a career in Data Science/Analytics, this video was super inspirational. Glad to have come across this video early in my career. Appreciate your efforts for coming up with content like this. Thanks a lot!
Your puppy is soooo cute omg I completely lost it when I saw him!! Thank you for your open hearted honesty in this video. I’ve been feeling the calling to change careers into tech and something keeps telling me that data analytics is my path to that. I’m feeling very inspired to start learning the necessary skills and take the leap!
From Nigeria, with a background that is so way off from talk about SQL, Python...but have known for a while, I would like to shift careers. This video, almost 10 months old now, puts all things in better perspective. Thanks Alex. And oh, Jalapeno!
I made it to the jalepeño. I myself am making a career change and I loved hearing about your journey, it gives me the energy I need to keep moving forward. I'm so happy I found this chanel.
Alex, just wanted to say thanks. I am in my mid 30's with a couple kids and wife to support. I started in Finance, did my CPA, did a bit of Financial Analysis, but then became a Finance Recruiter for the last 5 years. I am pivoting my career back into the Analysis side, and very scared. Your story was truly uplifting and put a smile on my face. I will take the next 3-6 month to take courses/certificates in SQL, Python, PowerBI/Tableau and build a portfolio along the way. I have a bit of SQL experience, and I agree that a good recruiter can truly help the transition. Thanks again....and Jalapenos!!!!!!!
Loved ur video..how openly you describe ur career path without showoff and boasting...and showed hardwork is the only path to success..have a great successful life ahead
Can I just say that I stuck around to the end so because of you I’m going to make it! Haha. Appreciate you for being a great resource and inspiration for us all. What a good story and we thank you wife for introducing your career path. She spearheaded it now you’re paying it forward to us folks. I’m happy to be here for all your videos. Thank you Alex and wifey.
Like others have said, this podcast format is great. It is honest and straightforward with no gimmicks. It is so rare to find this kind of content in data analytics, keep up the good work Alex!
Jalapeño, incredibly grateful to come across your channel! Have been learning SQL, Tableau, excel for 3 months now as I try to make a career shift from Physiotherapy (as medical health background and fresh graduate same as you), but I have no real life relatable person to be inspired by until now and the anxiety that comes from that, Motivated to keep going and really thanks a lot for sharing every single struggle you faced at your early beginning
This is the best video I have seen. I'm currently pivoting from a product designer into a data analytics and you just gave ms the courage to keep going. Thank you so much Alex🙏
This really spoke to me. I fell in love with SQL but I'm struggling with Python. Applying for jobs in Data management and analytics but I lack the skills. Just signed up for the Google course. Thank you for the inspiration!!!
Hey Alex, today I'm grateful that RUclips showed me someone who has almost the same story as mine! I studied Theology 10 years ago and this degree did nothing to me. Back in 2017, I started an internship at a nonprofit organization. This internship helped me with getting hired by a larger organization working with the projects' team. After a few months, the organization was working on reorganizing the structure. And they assigned me a position of data collection. My work is basically on excel and the organization now works on establishing a new database. Just like your story, I think I need to start learning SQL to get prepared and provide more value to my position in the long term. Many thanks for sharing your inspirational story. I'm a new subscriber!
I am at a stage in my life right now considering to pivot my career from an auditor to become a data analyst, but it really scares me cause it will be a completely new environment and would be out of my comfort zone. I googled "career change to data analyst" and your video was the first one to show up. I'm so blessed to find this video, 40 mins was all worth it! It's so inspiring and all your words seemed to resonate to me. 😭 Thank you Alex, this is a priceless content! ✨ Excited for more videos! 🤩☺️
This podcast format is solid. It is sometimes difficult persisting when you don't know what lies ahead but content like this gives a realistic perspective. Also extremely encouraging to hear the motivation of wanting to provide the most impact, I need to go throw some jalapenos on my sandwich right now
i am a research biology assistant and I feel like I completely wasted my degree choice and I feel distraught because I make 17 an hour and perform completely brainless tasks that make me feel like I am killing braincells . ....this story boosted my attempt to change my life around as a 29 year old. I will be moving to boston and enrolling in a data science associates degree. wish me luck
Thanks so much for sharing. Im also 29 and making a career change to become a data analyst. It feels good to read a tad it into someone else story. The odd job I'm at is brainless and dull as well. But I can add some tech, computing, excel, and communication skills to my resume now.
I am a security guard working for a private company making $18/hr. I've been stuck here for the past 4 years because it's comfortable as all hell. It honestly feels like I've been here for a year, but I don't feel challenged and seriously need to find another job other than security.
I just finished nursing and realized how dumb this was lol. Going back to tech. I grew up in the Bay Area. Plenty of jobs out here if you’re interested in the area as well.
this was incredibly motivating and helpful. i’m in inside sales and i used to work in procurement, and i hate it sm. My boyfriend is a data analyst and he has way more work life balance than i do and he thinks transitioning into data analytics is a good idea so i’m gonna go for it. i’m about to watch your data analytics certifications video hehe.
I appreciate your page so much! I felt like was in the right place immediately, currently working as an occupational therapist and I'm looking to transition into a non-clinical role and data analyst is calling me name!
Straight from heart, appreciate your channel I am glad I found this. I hope we get more of this, was confused between data science and data analytics as a career path, now I am clear. Thank you and keep mentoring Jalapeno😎
Jalapeño! You rock, Alex! Thank you for all of your amazing videos! I’ve been listening and learning from you as I progress through my Coursera, Google Data Analytics class. Your down-to-earth manner is AWESOME!!!
Jalapeños for you Alex!!! While I was enrolled in a PhD in Biology I learnt a lot of R, Python, relational databases (ms access) and off course excel. I have to say I become obsessed with programming, the challenges were so much fun, I enjoyed a lot. However, I always thougth it was impossible to make a carreer in programming, data analyst because I assumed computer science people would always be chosen/employed over me, I mean, they have a whole university training in that! So I never persue that path... Difficult now to see it was possible... I wish there is still a way. Haven't done much in programming since 5 years... but still love it, that's why I ended up watching you here, last week have been looking for small programming task to warm up my brain again
Jalapeños! Thank you so much for your content! I am just beginning my journey and I resonated with the “obsessed” aspect of your learning journey. I am that type of person and it’s good to know that my hard work, tenacity, and obsession with this area of study will help me shift my career quickly. Blessings, and I look forward to studying more of your video courses.
This is exactly what I needed to hear. I am trying to transition from Social Studies Teaching and currently learning Data Analytics on my own and I have no idea what I'm doing. This video somehow inspired me to just keep on learning. Thanks, Alex.
3 years later and this video is still making an impact (along with the rest of your channel)! I'm in a very, very similar situation and this helped me so much. Thank you for starting this channel and sharing your story and skills with us! Jalapeño!
I made it till the end. I am going to be changing careers soon. I will start my data analyst certificate at the end of this month(June 2021). I am a teacher LOL. You gave me hope! Thanks so much! Please continue to make these videos.
Thank you for this video. I am currently 28, software developer and I want to switch careers to Data Analyst. Thankfully I've already made software with python 3 that queried databases so I'm not completely out of the loop. But this video has really helped me realise I need to focus, pick up new skills, fix the cv and just do what I need to do.
Jalapeños. I made it to the end. I had already subscribed. And this is just the second video of yours that I have watched so far. Thank you for all your encouragement!
This is really inspiring, i am an accountant...but my love for job conveniency and having to work remotely has made me thought of changing career, i am currenty 30yrs of age, and i hope its not to late to do that. I have really considered data analysis and data science. I am currently watching your videos and reading more online before kickstarting my professional training and hopefully i become a professional soon enough and complete my transition into a data analysyt/scientist, i believe i have an edge because i know excel (intermediate level) and studied mathematics in the uni...Thank you Alex
really appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experience with us. i was particularly moved when you talked about your family and how you don't come from wealth. i'm the child of two hardworking immigrants but i was a delinquent during my school days- dropped out of hs, took 4 years to get my associates. despite all that i got a job doing HR with a decent salary I can support myself with. my parents are just happy i turned out fine but i know i can do so much more. this video has given me that final push i needed to leave my comfort zone and strive for more. thanks again
I just found your channel and this video is something I really connected with. I am beginning my career change from Medical Biller to Data Analytics. I just completed a coursera class in SQL and a mini tutorial on Power BI, I have a 1 year daughter along with my girlfriend and her 7 year old daughter. I realize I need to find a career that has a future. While being a Medical Biller my boss would put me on excel projects since I was the most proficient at it. I became self taught on formulas and would take other excel formulas and see if I could understand and apply them my self. It felt natural and I grew to create tables and charts for her to present to our Owner. I applied for our Analyst position and found out really quickly I was out of my depths. The manager did like my attitude and gave me a list of courses to take. I appreciate this video as I know I have an understanding on what to do next. Sorry to the long replay and Thank you again.
I'm trying to change careers....actually get back to working. It's been 6 yeras after i had twins and haven't worked all that time. Was preciously a banker. My husband is encouraging me to look at DA as an area to restart my career. Thank u so much for this video. It sure helped give me confidence to start on this journey. ... Jalapaenos!
This is so inspiring to listen to. I'm a psychologist with strong data, and analysis in SPSS and Mplus. I've decided to change career. Lovely story. JALAPENOS
Jalapeños! I’m in my late 40s and making a switch to data analysis. I’m in a job where I get to use SQL but I need to urgently backfill my knowledge. Your channel actually changed my entire approach to learning. This video (and the portfolio series and others) gave me a sense of what I need to know and how to showcase those skills. Your recommendation for that Udemy T-SQL course was amazing. That course is legit and actually maps to on-the-job challenges I’ve faced. The database/data warehouse/data lake video improved my understanding of my employer’s current tech stack. Your channel is doing what you set out to do. It’s helping people and making a difference. Thank you!
Your story has really inspired me Alex. I constantly worry about how possible it is for me to get into data analytics and this has made realize that I can do it. Also how you value your wife and involve her in making key decisions is something I respect a lot.
I recently decided to pivot from a Master's degree in Philosophy to Data Science. By listening to you, I know it is a possibility to do it. I'm really grateful for that. You're the best!
Thanks alot for the vid ... I have watched the whole video. Learning data analytics is such a lonely road in my country and I always watch your videos for inspection.
what I understand from yr amazing story is that u are a successful person not because of your hardworking or all those skills but because of yr beautiful wife, she just pushed u , motivate you , and guide u mentally . that is is the most important thing which most of the people could find in their entire life
Jalapennnnooo! Thanks for this very inspiring video! I just started taking up courses last August, and now am currently looking for an entry level data analyst career right now.
Hi! I really resonated with your background story! I'm working on my doctorate degree while also working in a pharmacy call center, teaching IT part-time, and trying to find a career to fall back on in case there are major cuts in academia in the next 2 years. I'm leaning in to data analysis, and have some experience with SQL, Health Informatics, and data presentation so this may be my next venture. I'm learning R programming, and will teach myself anything I need to get out of the call center! Jalapeños forever!
Jalapeños! This video is really inspiring. By just listening one can tell that you are being super honest and open about it! Many of the thoughts you share are the same ones I've had/I'm having, since I'm personally kind of in the mid-point of your data analyst story :) I feel like lots of people had had the same challenges: trying to earn the first or second job knowing almost nothing of the field, or knowing just super-specific stuff but not really how to apply it or how it fits in a data analytics team. But for people out there: don't let this give you impostor syndrome! The truth is most of the data analysts I know now really did not have any formal education on the field before starting their first position (many had maybe just a degree in engineering or business administration, but no coding or data analytics knowledge). These positions are so demanded that I feel like most of them are covered by people that have been self-taught and come from other areas of expertise. About your specific story Alex, it sounds like you spent so much extra time at every job. It is motivating and inspiring, but for other people I just wanted to say that it is perfectly fine to do your normal amount of work and normal hours, and progression will come anyways if you are professional and work relatively well (and some luck is always great to have). In any normal company, part of your work time should be spent actually learning things from your daily work, so that you can be more productive for your team. I guess I would just like to tell people to take care when putting that extra effort, watch out for burnout, which is very tipical in the field. On my experience, it's better to take things slow but steady!
I'm a Fresh grad in Computer Engineering and finding a job sometimes becomes frustrating. But this video made me so motivated for the hardwork so, Thankyou. I want to say that THIS JALAPEÑO WILL MAKE IT!
Jalapenos!! Hello, I am struggling as becoming a Data Analyst with on-job training. I work for Police Department. You have some very informative information you shared as a Data Analyst. You are able to give people confidence in themselves and within this field of study. Thank you for the info and advice, :)
Jalapeños!!!!!!! Thanks for the video, really cool to hear how things really happen and that it's a result of your hard work and not something that just came out of nowhere.
Wow your story is so similar to mine! I had no interest in looking for jobs after graduation from a top 50 university and interned at a fortune 500 company. I felt I didn't want to work for a long time until I met my boyfriend. He is so committed into work, so kind, so responsible. This just inspired me to look for jobs again! And I trust myself I will! Just looking for a data related job in Vancouver is so hard with no experience!!!!
I’m so glad I clicked on this video. I feel like this is going to help me advance so much for my future I am currently 20 years old ,took two years off of school and I have never been so Interested in becoming an analyst! Thank you I am currently trying to get out my job and figure out what I want to do with my life
@@ppyhanash9934 It was going well I actually still like the career, currently I’m in pharmacy school to become a pharmacist changed my whole career up but this is a good career as well !! I just wanted a change I was always dealing with technology my whole life
Wow. I feel like we were in a similar boat at a similar time in our career. I went through nursing school and then the next 3 years of bedside care were excruciating. I found my way into a position that has taught me the value of SQL and Excel, but I feel like I have overstayed my welcome and need to expand. This channel may be my saving grace! Thanks, Alex. -Jalepeño
Cant wait!! I just enrolled in the google certificate program! Even though I dont have a college degree, will I still be able to land a job as a Data Analyst after I get my certificate?
I got to the end. I guess I got it. It’s a good thing because I’m in that fork on the road, kind of changing careers and it’s scary but exciting at the same time.
Jalapeño~~~ xD I just found your channel as I have finally (after two of my cousins have told me it would be a superb fit for me 3 years ago) decided that going into data analytics is exactly what I need! Your whole video didn't even seem like 40+ mins long because it was so interesting and highly informative. I resonated so much as I know others have as well. Can't wait to go through the rest of your channel and dive deeper into this field. Much thanks and support~^^
Im glad that I saw this video here on youtube. Im in healthcare and I am starting my journey of transition to data analyst. I feel more motivated and inspired after watching this video. Thank you man!! 🌶
This video was very inspiring. We need such stories to be told to give courage to those who are scared or unsure about their career transition. Once you enjoy work, it stops being just work and you are ready to do the hard yards. GO WELL ALEX!
I watched it till the end. I am changing careers, have a postgraduate degree in biotech and trying to be a data analyst. So your story really resonated with me Alex. Oh and Jalepenos btw. I just wish I master to write scripts for automation in python and SQL. Thank you for creating your channel for people like me.
Hi Talha, I also have postgraduate degree in biotech and now considering moving to data science job. I was wondering how is your career changing going?
@@elphireehmed92 its going good. Although I'm currently not in a data related role. Its more of a project support instead. I think you can easily transition into something similar where its still WFH. Im not sure which country you're in but I'm from canada.
Jalapeños 😊 just found your channel this morning. Been watching you since 6 this morning & it's 8:58am now. I too know little to nothing about data analyst & I'm intimidated but I'm motivated to learn & be the best I can be at this career!
Oh man when you started talking about python... i feel the confusion. Thats me right now. Its like gibberish to me. But im gonna try harder and learn at least the basics
Jalapeno ! Hi Alex, thank you for making this video. I am already on my way to becoming a Data Analyst. Your video inspires me to make fewer compromises. And as you see I made it to the end. Love your style, very genuine, and authentic.
36:43 The best thing I have heard today and in a long time. Really needed it. :') Hope this Jalapeño makes it as well! Thank you so much Alex. You are amazing! ❤
I can say that this is on of the longest videos I've watched on RUclips this year so far. Quite helpful, I want to walk this path of career transition and I'll tell my story hopefully soon.
Wow… Alex… this video has to be one of the best videos I’ve seen in you tube in a long time. You are so genuine, and sound so sincere that even someone not looking to be a analyst would enjoy it. Truly a great 40 minutes listen. And by the way… I luv jalapeños!!! Fyi.. I’ve subscribed and will be following and listening to you entire channel!
Hey Alex, I hope all is well with you and your family? I just want to say thank you for creating this video I am in the process of a career change and this video almost brought me to tears from excitement and exactly what I needed I just wanna say thank you so much and I will make an excellent data analyst #jalapeños
Hi Alex! Your story is so inspiring to me, as our journey has a lot of similarities. I graduated with an associates degree as a physical therapist assistant, but by the time I graduated I was so burnt out and unenthused with patient care that I knew I couldn't work in the field. Shortly after graduating, and somewhat randomly, I landed a job as a data collection specialist for a local hospital. Right now, I'm looking for a data analyst role and it would be SO COOL if it was with a healthcare analytics company! I truly hope I am following in your footsteps, haha. I have actually just completed my first semester of a computer science bachelor's degree because I really love the subject. While I don't know if I want to be a data analyst forever, I know I want to be one right now - but the journey is incredibly daunting. I appreciate you sharing your story, as I am at my complete wits end trying to find a job. I don't feel like I know enough to get my first job, and the job market seems increasingly competitive. This gave me some inspiration and hope that someone who doesn't really know a lot about being a data analyst in the grand scheme of things (aka, Me) CAN land an entry level role and go on to be successful. Thank you so much for sharing, and I can't wait to watch more of your videos. - Brandi
"Jalapeons"...Great show Alex 👌. How are you? I have been following you since last week after accidentally finding your channel.Great content , specially this inspirational video and u said exactly what i needed to hear at this moment " I ll a good data analyst" 😊. Loved your journey and struggle.
Nigerian Jalapenos 😂 Jumping ship from being pharmacist to being a data analyst and I know it would be worthwhile. If not for anything, the knowledge and experience. Thank you for this video. First comment on RUclips!
Thanks so much for all your videos Alex! The imposter syndrome eats me up and slows me down every day and listening to your story is very motivating. I've got a background in quantitative psychology, currently working in a quantitative psychology research team as their data analyst and statistician. Trying to re-train to transition to a data analyst role in industry or government/NGOs. Learning SQL, R, and PowerBI. It's tough while working full time and tougher when a constant internal voice tells you you're not smart enough. But hey, got to keep pushing! Thank you Jalapenos!
Very useful testimonial! I have a biological sciences background (precisely Biochemistry). I've been a University Professor in a resource poor environment with very poor remunerations. I am desperate for a more flexible better paying career change for which I am seriously considering Data Analyst
All my Jalapeño people are going to make it! 👍 (you’ll know what I mean if you watched to the end 😂)

Wish you well
Yes! Finally someone from the hospitality industry moving away. Hope you landed a job. I'm a chef looking to change career path.

This video is two years old but the message is so direct to me. Migrating from Nigeria turned me into a care assistant, having my first child means I need to readjust for my family. Over the years I've procrastinated over my Tech desire but this video just told me I can start today and now. Thank you for sharing your experiences. My data analysis journey just began here
i will suggest you 365 data science and some eBooks pdf , sir for learning. you will definitely going to be successful and hope you will give a great future to the family.
oga, you got this! we dey the same boat!
I'm 45 but I'm going for it.......
Give Max a hug!
you didnt say jalapeno, thats how i know you cant
This video is helping me but this comment (your comment) honestly helped me the most! I also am feeling intimidating, I'm 28 & motivated to learn but again was feeling intimated. I hope your schooling went well & your succeeding.

Your story is so helpful.. I come from a culinary arts degree, a modest family background, and want to work as an analyst. It seems so incredibly daunting. This has helped. Thank you.
Awesome to hear someone from a completely different field is trying this out too. Best of luck!
@@AlexTheAnalyst Can you explain how the Director level position would have harmed your resume opposed to help it?
Incredibly grateful to have stumbled across this channel! Have been learning SQL, Tableau and Python for 2 months now as I try to transition away from mechanical engineering (no interest in it), but I have had no real life relatable person to be inspired by until now. Motivated to keep going and also to purchase some jalapeños.
Hi can we be friends if you dont mind i just started my Data analyst journey last month

Inspiring!
Keep going my friend!!
This man had the perfect formula, hunger, the pressure, the direction, mentors and the big dragon to slay or "big leagues" as he said. Face the scariest thing you can find and retrieve the knowledge. Thank you for sharing.
Well said. They are key accelerators to learning
I keep getting denied over and over and over. I don’t have motivation to learn SQL and excel I just graduate university. It’s hard out there
The great thing about "Jr" titles/levels of jobs, is that the expectation is that the will train/mold you into their data analyst.
Jalapenos

THANKS!!!

Your honesty and integrity is commendable, you sir are a gentleman and deserve what you have become. Thank you
I am at a stage in my life right now considering to pivot my career from an auditor to become a data analyst, but it really scares me cause it will be a completely new environment and would be out of my comfort zone.
This is honestly very inspiring! Thank you for sharing

Your story has really inspired me Alex. I constantly worry about how possible it is for me to get into data analytics and this has made realize that I can do it. Also how you value your wife and involve her in making key decisions is something I respect a lot.

That's great! Welcome to the Jalapeno crew - probably the best veggie crew out there :)
Jalapeños! This video is really inspiring. By just listening one can tell that you are being super honest and open about it! Many of the thoughts you share are the same ones I've had/I'm having, since I'm personally kind of in the mid-point of your data analyst story :)
I feel like lots of people had had the same challenges: trying to earn the first or second job knowing almost nothing of the field, or knowing just super-specific stuff but not really how to apply it or how it fits in a data analytics team.
JALAPEÑOS

Jalapeno ! Hi Alex, thank you for making this video. I am already on my way to becoming a Data Analyst. Your video inspires me to make fewer compromises. And as you see I made it to the end. Love your style, very genuine, and authentic.

This is amazing! I am really interested to transition to this field and I am at the stage where you were in, having no idea. Btw, Jalapenos man :D
Well I hope my videos can be helpful! I have lots of videos about where you are :)
So glad to hear it! Do it - I highly recommend it :)

Good luck 👊🏽

This is soooo inspiring. I am a physical therapist venturing into data analysis.
That’s awesome! Very similar! Haha
Hey I am planning on becoming a physical therapist so I am curious as why you want a career switch.
"Jalapeons"...Great show Alex 👌. How are you? I have been following you since last week after accidentally finding your channel.Great content , specially this inspirational video and u said exactly what i needed to hear at this moment " I ll a good data analyst" 😊. Loved your journey and struggle.
aprajita sharma 😂 I’m doing great! Thanks for asking! And I’m so glad to hear it - have a good one!
I'm here probably 2 years too late but Jalapeño, thank you Alex for sharing your story. This is the best thing I needed to hear right about now.
Was waiting for a video on this topic , thank you👍
Awesome! Hope it's helpful!
Yes .. it gave me a clear picture about how to go about data analysis..
