- There's been a trend going around that I absolutely adore. Everyone's been sharing their cool but useless facts about the game they love, so now it's my turn! I tried to find all of the little details that haven't been widely covered about the game... because why not? Hopefully these useless facts don't affect your day at all!

@hasslfoot my brother in Christ, it's a video game. There is no actual real grownup romance.

An alcoholic falling in love with a person who constantly gives them attention, quitting alcohol to get them to marry them, leaving the child their meant to take care of to marry said person, then falling back into alcohol and trashing the person they married's house is pretty realistic I'd say.
@hasslfoot To be serious though, Penny is as unrealistic as all the others. Her story is a savior's complex dream. There's a this super sweet girl who is super soft to children but really shy around others until you get to know her and then as you talk more to her you find out she's a slave to her alcoholic mother... Yeah, her situation is about as realistic as any other marriage candidate. In that there are genuinely exactly people like that out there, but the fact she just gets married to someone who "saves" her and then she has a happily ever after is just so unrealistic. It's a fantasy for both people like her in neglectful homes, and a fantasy for those that want to "save" people like that.
IRL shy girls that come from homes like that are very rarely saved. They escape themselves. And when they are saved they still need to put in effort to get help otherwise they often repeat the same generational abuse. That's not a critic of the game, because it's a cozy farm game, it doesn't need all that. It's just nothing about Penny's story is less realistic then Alex or Sebastian. So I don't know why your saying it is.

4:23 also interesting to note is that linus is the only one who pees in the first place. You can never find an actual bathroom in this game besides the spa.

I never thought of the lack of restrooms in Stardew, and now that I am it seems ridiculous that everybody goes up to the spa any time they need to use the toilet.
I'm just gonna imagine everyone in town had the money to build master bedrooms with attached bathrooms now

@L0rem Ipsum it's great if you want a chance at finishing the CC before winter, as one of the items in the Field Research bundle on the bulletin board is a nautilus shell, which only appears naturally on the beach in winter. It is, however, also one of the items that Demetrius might send you in the mail.

The hoe-able walnut spots on ginger island could be useful if you plant fairy rose and set up some beehives in those spots

@@residentgrey I tried it out on the island farm, and the grassy areas work, but not the walnut spots on the sand/beach. Havent tried outside the farm yet

Or you could just do that anywhere on normal farmable land.
The being able to skip ConcernedApe's screen is indeed useless. I have quit the game to desktop just to boot it up again because I missed being able to click on ConcernedApe and to get a honk or a squish. Skipping him would just be Yoba-less behaviour. BTW, it is my firm belief that you get better loots during the honk-sessions.

You know, the skull caverns being floor 121 of the mines in the code actually explains something else. Why the bats change on floor 880 of the Skull Caverns. Because in the code, you just surpassed the 1000th floor of the mine and are now on 1001

I have over 500 hours in Stardew. According to Steam, it's my 8th most-played game of all time (well, since 2009 anyway. If my NES and SNES from childhood could talk, oh the stories they'd tell, but I digress.)
I STILL have my mind absolutely blown by Stardew RUclipsrs pointing out "cool things you may have missed" in these types of videos.
I have over 2,700 hours and I still keep learning things.

@@calypselle2254 A year has nearly 8760 hours. If you own a game for 5 years, achieving 500 hours means that you spend only 1.1% of your time playing a game.
That's less than an hour a day.
It is possible to softlock the game if you get hit by the train in Harvey's 10 heart event, as your character cannot pathfind to him after getting knocked to the side. Though the train is invisible as well
So, basically an unoffical ending is getting hit by a ghost train while your doctor stares at you is what you're saying.
The ginger island walnut spots may be useless to everyone else- But I plan on decorating outside of the farm so thank you for sharing that!
1:27 This is especially funny if you know that „paradicsom" means both tomato and paradise in Hungarian.
The thing with Lewis in the summit also happens if you marriage a mod npc and remove it before going to the summit, so its probably some type of safety mechanism
I honestly didn't even realize there was an end to the game, I thought you were just about done after the community center xD
That used to be it, but with all of the updates the game is like twice as long now

@@eliseserenity8876 Yes. You have to reach 100% perfection to "beat" the game. But it doesn't end, you can continue to play after that cut scene for as long as you want.
@@eliseserenity8876 the perfection "ending" is a bit like minecraft's "ending" of defeating the enderdragon. you've technically won if you want a goal like that, but you can keep playing and do whatever you want afterwards
Also, if you don't have any spouse/roommate during that time, Morris will join you in the cutscene instead.

If the Farmer doesn't have spouse, Lewis or Morris will appear at the Summit depend on the route they've finished. If they finish the Community Center, Lewis will appear, but if Joja Development Project finished, Morris will.
Krobus is an exception who doesn't count as a spouse but a roommate.
How funny. I have only romanced Krobus, so my 100% custscene was the alternative, which I was unaware.

Useless piece of knowledge I just found. If you do Sebastian’s 14 heart event when it’s Salmonberry season or blackberry season, You will collect the blackberry/salmon berry. As the interacting of the bush for that event counts as interacting with it.
For the topaz ring, attacks can't miss, but sometimes they can do 0 damage, and afaik the topaz ring reduces that chance
Penny was actually the first character I ever romanced in Stardew. Since then however it's always been Abigail or Haley.
This video was so random but was very funny and I will definitely be using these "useless" tips in the future

3:15 the dwarf is the one who lost his family during the elemental war
Krobus does mention that he left his people, which I lumped together as family. Though you’re right, I should’ve added the Dwarf to that group
I feel like Krobus's cutscene info isn't useless, rather, it's cute sounding in a way.
Correction on the Topaz ring, once you reach floor 120 of the normal mines, it actually makes a few changes like increasing enemy hp and attack by a random amount, and making it so that your attacks have a chance to miss.
Additionally, if you download certain mods (such as Stardew Valley Expanded) accuracy becomes a more prominent mechanic against certain mobs (learned that in a very painful way)
Could you elaborate on the miss chance? Because I don't think I've ever missed an attack in 800 hours of play time. The wiki does say that your miss chance doubles after reaching floor 120, but 0% chance to miss will still be 0% no matter how many times you double it.

@@slymarines57 Literally not true. When you're socialising with her and getting to know her _that's_ when she's depressed and upset. But after you marry her, she's happy and gets to do whatever she wants. Yes I've married Penny in one of my playthroughs and no I don't regret it. (also don't take this too seriously, I mean this reply in a very lighthearted manner.)
Fact 17 - you can get stuck between the train and a wall, can be circumvented by entering the crafting menu. You take no damage in it, and the train still moves.
The Topaz Ring one is wrong btw. It reduces the RNG in your attacks; so if your sword normally dealt 4-8 damage, for example, it'll deal 5-7 damage. Still useless, tho

@@salmence100 It's also kind of more useless than before because it theoretically makes your weapon weaker, since while it cannot hit lower, it can't hit higher either.
the walnut spots are not totally useless. You can use those odd places for a flower to produce honey and not take up precious grow space.
Looks like I’ll be expanding my fairy rose honey farm all over ginger island in addition to where ginger grows on the farm area

The joke below that is that he obviously doesn't mean this and it's entirely tongue in cheek
Krobus not joining you when reaching the summit is part of why I stopped playing the game. I was going to play until perfection because I knew that there was a cutscene with your spouse at the end and wanted to see what Krobus would say; but when I found out that there was no cutscene for Krobus it's what finally made me put down the game. (Krobus is my skrunkly)
I don't know if you play with mods or not, but there is a mod called Krobus Summit Event so that you can have him waiting there for you instead
Even more useless fact: the beach map during the Dance of the Moonlight Jellies is technically a freshwater body. If you could use your fishing rod there (which you can’t), you would catch bream and other river fish

I found out about the crab pots disappearing because I was like "oh, I'll be at the night market, I can grab them then", lol!
1:51 I know Robin is unavailable and has a family and all, plus the game makes that pretty apparent with her living situation and spending hours just standing beside Demetrius at the mountain. But oh MY GOD😂 this was surprisingly dark.
The walnut spots are actually really good for honey. I have a fairy rose and 27 hives just east of the farm parrot transport station. Never stops, and never takes up crop space.

I actually got that robin dialogue my first time. I didn’t know it was so close to never being seen. I think I talked to her later in the day too, like 6 pm
as a first time stardew player i'll be sure to do the most with this information (i will not, it truly was useless) (except for like the last 3)
The plant in golden walnut isn't useless. I saw a thing somewhere say you can plant a bee plant (I don't rememwbrr the name) and instead of taking up farm space the bees (I think) are on grass instead of usable farmland
I did not know that Penny was a romanceable character. Now that I know, I’ll romance her by gifting her a bunch of bunny feet! I can’t wait to have zero beautiful children with her!

you said attacks can't miss, but when you attack a lava lurker while it's under the lava, it says "Miss". maybe it gives a chance to hit the lava lurker? or not.

Also the fishing one is not technically true. I just ran a bunch of tests and did not catch a sunfish once in my first time fishing. I would like to point out that my friend however caught a sunfish in the middle of winter in the mountain lake when he joined one of my later year worlds so maybe it's true but it's not 100% of the time.

That fishing one might differ on the switch port of the game as I remember playing split screen with my sister and she managed to catch (and I kid you not) an octopus. It took her a bit but because you can't fail the first time fishing she actually got it.

It's if you were to catch nothing it forces a sunfish and at level 1 you have a large chance to catch nothing so it seems guaranteed. If you actually hook a fish you can catch anything

I find the fact that this game violated the Geneva convention hilarious. Cause really, who’d expected one of the least violent games out there to violate a convention that, in addition to other wartime humanitarian issues, dictates what is and isn’t a war crime

I'm not sure about the catching legend with your first free catch thing, considering there are times i start fishing the second willy gives me the rod and i catch a sunfish out of the ocean, i did get an ocean fish this last run but i do believe the first catch goes for anything really low difficulty, or replaces harder fish with sunfish.
You can test it for sure if you go into the sewers, with the Mutant Caro being the only fish you catch down there, it’s easy to get the free catch on it

I actually had one of my hits miss the other day! I was in the volcano and it came up with Miss instead of damage.

If you get stuck in the train between a tree you dont pass out. I accidentally did this while chopping some trees down and didn't notice the train coming and got stuck. Tooooo funnyyyyy

Attacks can miss but they only do on downed mummies and those lava lizzard things in the volcano so hey maybe you can kill mummies without bombs now
25 Not Useless Pieces of Stardew Valley Knowledge
1: You can plant a fairy rose then place bee hives around it to earn money.
2: Rare dialogue is always nice and free friendship.
3: 3 Villagers like holly and you can sell it.
4: Having the blue fits the rest of the building and who wants to violate something?
5: Rare dialogue once again but even rarer.
6: You said it yourself, quickest way to get to the mines pre-warp totems.
7: You can use ice cream for friendship.
8: Lore is always useful for telling your own stories.
9: Penny is another villager needed for true perfection.
10: Either way, you gain friendship with one.
11: This can be used to decorate in a creative way.
12: Confirming that you cannot marry Robbin.
13: An exclusive and rare animation.(also not many people use the gift log)
14: Some of it is true but the warp totem is because he didn't want to come home.
15: Crop Fairy is obvious and the dead crops is a bug (I think at least).
16: The topaz ring is for sling shot to increase accuracy.
17: Quick way to get back to the farm if needed.
18: Easy friendship
19: Sunfish is needed for community centre or for money and easy legendary fish.
20: Use the alternate map for extra storage.
21: You might just want to play faster.
22: Exclusive map and dialogue.
23: Nice for knowing exact time.
24: Lore about how Linus may be the only human.
25: Krobus is sensitive to sunlight and exclusive dialogue and cutscene.
I spent far too long on this but eh who cares it was fun.
