Welcome back! 😄 And I think the longer videos are good, given the ASMR nature of them. EDIT: I don't agree with that CPU fan orientation. Rotating it clockwise would make so much more sense.
There is a lot about how this was built that I don't agree with. Rear\Top intake, CPU fan going up fighting with the "top" intake then out the side\front. I can "almost" say that cooler master did not orient those fans like that. At the end of the video, it looked like the case was right on top of the wall. Also, the CPU fan couldn't have been on the memory side of the heatsink because it looked like the fan would have been restricted (not fitting) because of the memory. I would do (this is me) front\side intake then exhaust rear\top (heat rises) that way the fan on the heatsink won't have any resistance with expelling heat. I've built a lot of computers and I have never changed the fan orientation on any case.
Pretty agree with you guys @spoopyangie and @dreizza about the air flow and this CPU fan. In fact, I was so focused on the video making I didn't even think about this and just did put it back the same orientation it was before I took this PC appart. I bet it stinks. You have to wash everything, with water and soap. Dry it with hot air and let it several days in a dry environment before mounting it back.
Oh damn, an CoolerMaster 932! I had a 932 Advance, it was amazing, incredible airflow and a behemoth of a case. This video hit hard on the nostalgia, i've cleaned it so many times.

Just the cpu cooler on heat sink is on wrong spot, it will blow the hot air down on gpu and will dramatically reduce performace, i have around 150 PC's like this, trust me.
I loved this video and I loved the way you worked in that system. It shows that you really know what you're doing. My only "but" would be that I don't agree with the CPU heat sink fan placement, since it will be shoving all the hot CPU heat sink air to the graphics card. Also, the top fan case will be pulling air from that zone. As I mounted many PCs back in the day with that Cooler Master HAF chassis (and even had one myself, what a joy and fond memories that chassis brings back to me), I would install the Scythe heat sink fan to its right side, not on top of it. Nevertheless, you've gained a new subscriber ;).
I totally agree with you, and many others who told me that. In fact, I was so focused and tired on making the video itself, I just did put back this fan the way it was before I took this PC appart. But I will work better on the air flow for the next videos. Thanks for your honest comment @Dreadnought33 really appreciate, and welcome on board ❤️❤️

I still own mine too. A literal 13kg jerrycan of cold-pressed steel and love. Bought in 2011 and decommissioned since 2018 but will eventually reuse it for a server, eventually.
@@french.satisfactory I stumbled a second time on your video, and yes I enjoyed it :) It's always satisfying to see a fucking dirty Pee-Cee getting cleaned up :) But after closer inspection, I noticed that this case differs a bit from mine. It's pretty identical, but yours seems to be an earlier revision than mine. The interior of yours is shiny steel, while mine is all painted black, as well as the outside. In later revisions of the case, before they released the HAF932 Advanced Blue - which featured fans with blue LEDs all over the case while the normal 932 had only the front 220mm fan with red LED - they painted the whole case black. A slight nuance in the colors, but overall that seems to be the exact same case, which is really different from the HAF X variant.
Other then the coolers orientation. Good job! should have the fan pointed towards the back of the case. In its current config its going to fight the top fan.
Well, I pretty agree with the fan orientation. Would be more effective in another orientation. oh somebody else already told me about an ultrasonic cleaner in the comment section of another video. I will check that. Thanks for the tip. Glad to know you enjoyed this video @NukaOrQuantum... thank you very much for your comment ❤️❤️
You should add two things in this cleaning process. First use ESD protection in your workshop. Second change sticker of fan after oiling them. One more thing that avoid excessive use of thermal paste. It should not reach nearby capacitors or resistors when you put back heatsink.
pretty interesting comment. Thanks for that @sn14j77 I add all of this in my improvements bullet points. Thanks for your comment, hope that you enjoyed watching this video ❤️
1 thing to keep in mind, as i seen it happen, the "do not cover this hole" on hard drives, sometimes dirt and tiny metal shavings and such can make its way inside there and on very rare cases mess up the drive, always take the cover off in a clean room and if it seems fine then put it back, also the board on the hard drive, i had on numerous occasions had dust, hair, dirt, etc get in there, and 1 good thing about that though is you can usually remove the board without needing to access the internals or ruin the warranty, unless its solid state
mmmh? Did you see that I did this in the video? do you have a timecode? Not sure to follow you 🤔 But thanks for the comment @lone_wolf178 ! I would love to understand. And hope that you enjoyed watching this video ❤️
@@french.satisfactory roughly 22:00 - 22:30 maybe my eyes are playin tricks on me, but the circuit board on the hard drive is def something to unscrew as the ribbon cables are connected by contact pins that feel a lil springy, but def good to look for corrosion, and at best a good wipe, as the other side of that board has components, the side that i see is the fairly blank side (sometimes has components) however if you do somehow break the board, it's replaceable and usually you wont have to deal with data loss as the board only controls the read/write arm and the motor, the data is stored on the platter(s) the cover is the side with the sticker with the brand, storage capacity, etc but that requires very delicate care taking the cover off, cuz how extremely delicate the read/write arm and the 1-4 platters (the mirror-like discs/disks) are, the circuit board side however is much easier as far less can be broken on it, like i've seen hard-drive disassembly videos before and learned a thing or 2 from hands on experience as well
and sorry if thats too much to read at 1 time, i tried to make it easier to understand but i never have been good with explaining things without showing it or doing it hands-on

You should have moved the fan on the CPU cooler to the front so it would pull air from the front and out the back fan. Having it on the top is pulling hot air off the top of the case and trying to cool with it.
Amazing work, cheers from Chile. Why did you put the hot air flow from CPU over de GPU? Best option, i think is pulling it to the back fan, pushing out the hot air. Good job!

You can easily make this computer much more capable by swapping the CPU for a quad core (i have the exact same motherboard rocking a core i7 870 you can find on ebay for 20€). Might be worth it since you upgraded the RAM. It's still perfectly fine for internet browsing, watching videos and using MS Office.
Yeah, upgrade the hard drive to an SSD one would also be a great choice, but this channel is not big enough yet to change all the interesting components to upgrade on every video. I clicked on this video because I recognized the case which is also the same one sitting here next to me. I've had this case since 2011 and it looks nothing like that or have I ever let it get to that state of disarray. My 200mm fans are still mostly clear with a little bit of white dust but no build up. SIDE NOTE. Those plastic PCIe retention clips are terrible. I had them melt on me or not so much melt but when my video card got hot, they let the card sag to the point games where crashing (I opened my side panel to see my card almost unplug itself and sitting at a 45-degree angle lol). I took out those plastic retention clips out of there and used screws. Never had an issue since. And yeah, the sag on the GPU in the bigging was absolutely those clips. Toss some screws in there.
Well, I don't know for these retention clips, but it looks like it is not the best part of this case for sure. Except that, I really enjoyed working on this case. Pretty heavy, but looks globally really great. I don't have one myself, it is a computer I gave back to its owner. Thanks for your comment @feeterican I hope that you enjoyed watching this video ❤️

I would have thrown everything sans the drives into a wash tub with kerosene or diesel. That level of nicotine tar and dust is hazardous to touch or especially inhale. Regular water and soap is not going to get nicotine tar like that off, you need a solvent. Kerosene or diesel being the cheapest in large quantities required for that level of cleaning. Just brushing and wiping off what you can get to is not enough, that entire PC is going to smell horrific even after all of that cleaning. The tar at that point has permeated under chips and components.
I'm pretty ok about that the smell is very hard to remove. But the main goal when we clean a computer is to help it making fresh air again. So a cleaning that way definitely do the job 😉 Thanks for your comment @GGigabiteM , I hope that you enjoyed watching this video ❤️

One thing: Try use 1/4 th of the thermal paste and just square it in the middle of a processor. Let the cooler surface squeeze the rest to the edges and not further. Such paste is just meant to smoothen out tiny uneven areas, metal against metal would be best if manage to polish it good enough.

Thank you very much for your comment @Cornrock ! Really appreciate, and glad to know you enjoyed this video ❤️❤️
Nice to make you have some good memories with this video. As this case is a classic, some people already told me that 🥰

Great result, that PC probably weighs 10kgs less now. I think it's the fastest PC you've cleaned so far, definitely worth your time.
10 kg? yeah probably 😂 Thanks for your comment @MarkTheMorose ! Glad to know you enjoyed this new video ❤️❤️
You know they dirty these up on purpose but dang its still so relaxing to watch. They know what they are doing ❤
Sorry but "they" don't 😅 I mean, ok a lot of channels fake their videos, but there is still people who don't, and that's the case here. But I understand your scepticism. I even did a community post about this here: ruclips.net/user/postUgkxoYXYxt7TFs5YNEBCEmWMfJU0vc1s3sdi

One of the best causes ever made, massive air flow
Yeah it is definitely a good one! Loved to work on it.
Thanks for your comment @corneliodamianperezmedrano1136 , I hope that you enjoyed watching this video ❤️
The video is the opposite, folks. The computer is working and thrown into the mud and then simulates cleaning.
I understand why you are saying that @VikoRezendeEscritor , but you are wrong.

@@french.satisfactory I stumbled a second time on your video, and yes I enjoyed it :) It's always satisfying to see a fucking dirty Pee-Cee getting cleaned up :)
But after closer inspection, I noticed that this case differs a bit from mine.

I only changed this red RAM to the blue one to go from 8 to 16 Gb 😉

Other then the coolers orientation. Good job! should have the fan pointed towards the back of the case. In its current config its going to fight the top fan.
top fan could be intake which would work great in that orientation
Well, I pretty agree with the fan orientation. Would be more effective in another orientation. In fact, I was so focused on making the video, I just did put back the same way it was before I took appart this computer 😅
But I think I will change this before git this PC back to its owner.

Always remember, guys :
- put motherboard in the case ;
- put video card on the mb ;
- put memory sticks on the mb ;
- ONLY THEN, put the huge cpu cooler on the cpu ! Geez.

Who would ever let their PC get to such a state? You did a great job restoring it to its former glory. I would recommend investing in an ultrasonic cleaner if you haven't already for lighter work.
oh somebody else already told me about an ultrasonic cleaner in the comment section of another video.
Not sure to follow you 🤔
But thanks for the comment @lone_wolf178 ! I would love to understand. And hope that you enjoyed watching this video ❤️
@@french.satisfactory roughly 22:00 - 22:30 maybe my eyes are playin tricks on me, but the circuit board on the hard drive is def something to unscrew as the ribbon cables are connected by contact pins that feel a lil springy, but def good to look for corrosion, and at best a good wipe, as the other side of that board has components, the side that i see is the fairly blank side (sometimes has components)
however if you do somehow break the board, it's replaceable and usually you wont have to deal with data loss as the board only controls the read/write arm and the motor, the data is stored on the platter(s)
the cover is the side with the sticker with the brand, storage capacity, etc but that requires very delicate care taking the cover off, cuz how extremely delicate the read/write arm and the 1-4 platters (the mirror-like discs/disks) are, the circuit board side however is much easier as far less can be broken on it, like i've seen hard-drive disassembly videos before and learned a thing or 2 from hands on experience as well
and sorry if thats too much to read at 1 time, i tried to make it easier to understand but i never have been good with explaining things without showing it or doing it hands-on

You should have moved the fan on the CPU cooler to the front so it would pull air from the front and out the back fan. Having it on the top is pulling hot air off the top of the case and trying to cool with it.
That was insane. Such a nice gaming PC and so dirty. I really was looking forward for your new video and I wasn't disappointed one bit.

Added to that, I didn't have more time to work on that PC as it already took me days to make that video 😅
Thanks a lot for your comment @roml1289 hope that you enjoyed watching this video ❤️
@@french.satisfactory Oh, i wasn't suggesting you to upgrade everything.I just thought that you might use that computer or give it to someone because you upgraded the ram. @@french.satisfactory fake ??? How cleaning that amount of dirt can be fake ???
Well, I understand why people have this in mind. There is so many fake videos out there... but if it took me 4 months to upload a new video it is also because of that it is hard to find an interesting PC/Gaming console to clean.
Anyway, thanks again for your comments @luckyspray ❤️❤️
We must salute that person who keeps this dirty thing in his house...👏👏👏👏👏
ehehehe, before I cleaned it, I had to put it in the garage for days. smelt too much "magic cigarets" 😅

Avoid compressed air on motherboard components and fan motors. It's an unecessary risk. You should only use a soft brush instead.
Compresed air is great for cleaning case and cooler fins.
That said, you did an amazing job.

1 The vrm zone on the motherboard is not serviced!
2 The electronics board on the hard disk must be removed and the contacts between the board and the hermoblock must be maintained, since they are always oxidized!

I got this same coolermaster case and...I need to do the same thing, completely disassemble everything and clean, then put in newer parts.
I don't understand two things: Why is the CPU fan mounted on top instead of on the right side? This way the warm air is blown towards the GPU.
Why aren't the RAM modules and CPU fan installed on the board before the board is built into the case?
1: I was so focused on making the video, I just did put back the fan were it was before I took appart this PC. That's not the 1st time I receive comments about the airflow. I will definitely more take care about that part on my next videos.

So a cleaning that way definitely do the job 😉
Thanks for your comment @GGigabiteM , I hope that you enjoyed watching this video ❤️
Bro, you breathed a whole new life into that PC 🗣️🔥
Great to read that you enjoyed 😍 Thanks for your comment @nikoladrca5324 ❤️❤️
Finallyyyyy, your upload video
Yeyyyyyy!!!! ❤️
Holy, that pc was in the war fr lol
one thing that i think would give more satisfaction is pressure washing the case with foam and water, Great video👍
mmmh interesting idea with this cleaning process. I would just need to find a good setup. Dans want to just put the case outside 😅
Thanks for your comment @NinjaMBR ! glad to know you enjoyed watching this new video. Will think about your feedback ❤️
everything is cooler master 😂 cool video keep it up👍
Thanks a lot @ronrim3479 ❤️
@@french.satisfactory no problem 👍
at 10:05 you all see how much liquid come's out of those air can's. that's how people kill hard ware. always use them level. en and dry with hot air .
Yeah, fortunately, nothing bad happened, but I was a bit afraid when I saw this during the cleaning session. When doing the video I'm so focused on the camera position etc... I'm not 100% focused on the cleaning part. But yeah, I should find something else than theses air compressed cans.
Thanks for your comment @idelstream2941 I hope that you enjoyed watching this video even with that ❤️
Amazing video as always, so happy to see you're back again!
Thank you very much @ryanjames2247 ! Glad to know you enjoyed ❤️❤️
I worked in the IT field, and when customers sent their PC in for repair, the ones who smoked were the worst. The smell was completely horrible. What you see in this video, we have had many just like that one.
Thank you so much for saying it @jessiec4128 ! I receive to many "FAKE" comments... highly appreciate when somebody say that it is just possible... ❤️❤️❤️
I have seen worse, but in a bit different way. Everything inside covered with a sticky layer of dust, hair, and smoke residues. Was an older Pc too, so no point in cleaning it, along fried PSU and GPU and HDD. Of course no backup. Many years ago now.
Nice to read this as I received so many comments saying that I'm making fake content because "this dust is impossible" 😅
Thanks a lot for your comment @StyxAnnihilator I hope that you enjoyed watching this video ❤️
@@french.satisfactory YW! If take average EU salaries, then the cleaning you did could have easily costed more than buying a new (and better) PC. Also some peoples do not understand the basic mechanic workings of a PC, why regularly do some cleaning. Along some environments a PC should not stay in for long. One thing: Try use 1/4 th of the thermal paste and just square it in the middle of a processor. Let the cooler surface squeeze the rest to the edges and not further. Such paste is just meant to smoothen out tiny uneven areas, metal against metal would be best if manage to polish it good enough.
I don’t get it. You always put those iron cases or components into the soap water. How can you make them ‘not’ to be rusty after the cleaning done?
Well, I just make them dry just after the cleaning session. Rust is coming if you don't dry quickly.
Don't smoke near your computer. Unless you want it to come out like this. I had to occasionally clean computers like this when i worked in a repair shop. It gets really bad when they have pets too.
Obviously it's not good for the PC (or the human using it), but cleaning it would be soothing for me.
@buddster124 yeah, that PC had to suffer this bad combo 😅 I would even add that it did smell "magic cigarets" and was probably on the floor.
@atlantic_love that was the case for me 😉
