Jonah is Hanoj reversed and it doesn't make sense ,just like this game's lore,
"The Jonah" so everyone understands, is that one character in every book, film, game, story that seems to bring bad luck and just get others killed.
For example the teenage boy in TellTale's The Walking Dead, we remember how he caused multiple people to die just by messing up or needing saving etc? Or that one guy who'll trip and blow the place up, or knock out the lights in a panic, or open the door and get the other twenty survivors killed who weren't planning to open the door. People who should never have survived the apocalypse but somehow keep doing so at the expense of others
Interesting, this volatile seems very smart. He lets the man with the red beard run and lead him to other groups of survivors, I would believe it protects him from other zombies in some sick symbiosis.
Edit: hi, I dident mean that the Jonah was the volatile, and honestly idk how ppl got that. But it was just a theory, I know the survivor is the Jonah I just figured this because the volatile very clearly lets the man go, marking said man as a Jonah. And thus letting the man lead it

you didnt get it, its not the volatile that is the "smart one" its all of them. Jonah is the Survivor bringing ruin to other people because they have very bad luck. It can happen to everyone, Jonah can be everyone. Even you can be a "Jonah". A Jonah is someone with bad luck in bad situation.

Because Biblical Jonah is running from his purpose. If this Jonah would slay the volatile using him, the hell he brings would be over.
Instead, cowardly, he continues to run from his duty, as if he can run away from it.
i firstly thought about this as well. It's such a nice reference.
Notice how Jonah survives both times, imo he is like a guy who is destined to bring bad luck to everyone but always makes it out alive somehow in order to go and ruin other groups.

I think the violetile if I spelled it right is sparing him in some type of way so he can keep taking him to other safe areas basically being smart asf plus Johan is so clumsy and dumb that he made the uv light fall and got everyone killed

After watching this so many times, I only just realised that at 3:41 you can see someone in the top window attempting to run but gets grabbed by the volatile

Jonah is just an allegory to all the survivors that during nighttime are being chased by volatiles and decide to go to the bases while showing the volatiles the location of other survivors, these volatiles wait in the shadows until they're prey meets other potential preys , and then the volatile attacks all the survivors except their original prey waiting to do the process once again...
That could be a cool secret event
A Guy after he figure this out becomes a Jonah
(He can have mental problems to become more interesting)
He literally betrays the survivor groups he is on, In return, volatiles not only do not attack him, but Also Protects him
(He is starts to become a infected too, a diferent kind)

johna is the volitile, he uses people as props to lour other survivers, the old guy said that sometimes its a child, sometimes its a women and sometimes its a man, the volitiles picks and chooses people and follows them to nearby safehouses then slaughters them, then lets its bait go and continues until its bait dies from eather hunger, dehidration, another zombie or johna kill them himself, then he finds another
wrong, its not the Volatile, its an alternate term for humans with bad luck. A Jinx, an unlucky Person and so on. Volatiles always follow you in the Night, its their time. You learn that from Dying Light if you ever played it

U even could see at 2:33 the Volatile got distracted by a thrown Brick (like in the first game wher eu could distract the Volatiles while being sneaky at night) then at 2:49 the Beep on the wristband alarms the Volatiles because it just happened that it goes of at that time cause of bad luck.... and to be clear about it at 3:26 the Storyteller even said: We must have Jonah here, find him and kill him. And he did not meant the Volatile he meant the red bearded Guy that begged for shelter before, paniced at the sight of a Volatile killing a Dude right at the Door and threw over the UC Lamp and made it break cause of bad luck wich made the Volatile free entrance to kill all in the House. And to be honest, yeah the Volatiles are ALL smarter than normal infected Monsters...you would know that if you played the first Game :)

And why do asking if I've played the first game, the second game takes place 15 (or 25 as I'm not sure) years after the first game, the virus in the first game did all it did within a month at lest, volatiles are smart, who's to say that, over these year's this volitile hasent learnt how to use humans as bait for other survivors

I don't understand how people got the interpretation so utterly wrong.
Jonah is the name for people who have "infectious" bad luck. Even if it is one or a handful of Volatiles that intentionally wound survivors and track them to more prey, their name is not "Jonah."
Just replace the name Jonah with "bait" or "bad luck" and it'll make more sense to you.
Like, Jonah as a Volatile doesn't make sense. Narrator immediately references sailors, and says that people hang themselves. If it was a Volatile, how tf do people have time to hang themselves? Shit can break down doors and keep up with Kyle Crane, no one's hanging themselves. They're getting eaten. "You'll only recognize the Jonah when they're already infected you with their bad luck" is a really awkward way to say "Jonah is a Volatile who rips out your organs."
Most importantly...
Volatiles don't have beards. The guy with the red beard was in half the video. Man literally said "I'm not Jonah" as if it was an accusation, when it would be pretty obvious it wasn't if he was talking about a Volatile.

I think Jonah is the survivor who had so much bad luck and keeps leading other survivors to their deaths altho I think that the volatile we are seeing us a sentient volatile i mean we've all seen how fast and ruthless a regular volatile is and this volatile had every chance to kill the man but didn't. Think about it before the man even got to the safe house he was running from the volatile through an ally and the volatile could clearly see him but didn't give chase it stayed a good distance while still following him and only interacting by roaring to strike more fear in the man to keep him moving and when the volatile was able to get into the safe house Jonah was the person closest to the door but instead of going for him it went for the other survivors letting Jonah live. This volatile is sentient no doubt.

The apocalypse it's only a place of survival those with ill intent thrive in it because they only care about being alive
But the Good Samaritan is the guy who chooses to help and most of the time especially in the Apocalypse those with ill intent will fully take advantage of it ot simply trying to help people like "Jonah" will most likely get you killed
It's shown in the video that most of the time people who are trying to be the Good Samaritan only get themselves killed
