My friend's VAIO has some crazy virus and I suggested she restore her windows to start fresh (she has backed up all her data files).
Will this do that?
I was under the impression she needed her Windows CD to accomplish this.

I used to do that. But now, when I press F10, the computer says it cannot find any partition, then it says there is no operating system... Do you think, I'll have to buy another hard disk? Thanks!
oh btw, my sony laptop doesnt come with any CDs (OS, drivers and programs etc). would it be a problem during restore settings?

so hi hopefully you get this so i turn my sony vaio on and it goes to the general boot ups screen but then it goes black but not dark and there is a small white line at the top left of the screen that blinks but i cant type anything into it. it looks like its wating for code though. any clues and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Tampatec. I am repairing a Vaio VGN-N31Z. White laptop by sony. with the "cant find operating system" message on boot up. So i decided to start e-recovery management system like you have shown. After choosing system recovery in DOS. It does not goto the diagnostic page / window screen. Just blank black screen with mouse pointer in the middle, and hdd LED on front stays on, oppose to flashing? ? ? Is this a screwed hard drive do you think? Any ideas! Cheers

how do i restore my sony vaio to factory settings without restore disc. when i turn my computer on my computer it’s a black safe mode screen. I am then able to type in my password however when I enter my password I then get a white screen and nothing else. My computer keeps restarting on the password screen. How can I do a system restore through safe mode command prompt section?

@ Pascal Viersen. You can also run / download "Novice Zone" Registry Vac Cleaner. This will completely clear / wipe all key strokes in your registry. Along with Anti Malware bytes and disk clean up, your machine should work like new :-) Happy 2013 all

I need help bad... I have a black vaio labtop I bought in I believe 2010 and it worked fine until about June 2013 then it randomly freezes.. The mouse freezes and the screen and then I have to shit my computer down and restart it and when it freezes again I do the same thing how can I fix it to stop freezing for good cuz I play a lot of games such as swtor and mine craft and it gets annoying when it randomly freezes plz respond in next 24 hours if u can...
