Thank you for the disclaimer about the delay in closing the door remotely w/flashing. I couldn’t find an explanation of that phenomenon anywhere and i thought something was wrong. Thanks again! 🤘🏽✊🏽
Thanks for watching! Glad it worked out for you!
I had an issue trying to connect to the opener when I first installed them, then I remembered I have an always on VPN on my phone, so I added the 'MyQ' app to use split tunneling, and it worked without an issue. Might help others.
Thanks for the tip!!
If all else fails, simply delete the MyQ app on your phone and reinstall it. Once reinstalled, your phone will have a record of your previous account and all you need do is set up the wi-fi again. This did the trick for me!
Thanks for the additional insight!! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Still doesn't flash blue with the lean button. Help!!
Did u figure it out? I'm having the same issue
Does anyone have the same issue? I pressed the yellow button three times, first time, it's on, second time, the circle button and the upper button start to blink, third time, all lights off. The blue lights never blinks
I am having the same problem after pressing yellow button three time the blue light never blinks
I can't even find a blue light.
I have this problem. It's because we don't have the wifi model of the garage door. We have the smart myq internet gateway. In the app instead of garage doors click the smart accessories.
@@elliot3147 after that then what?
@@elliot3147yes, after that whats the next step to follow?
app dont fucking work
I can't get the smart garage control myq gc401 to connect to home network for complete the setup and the Chanberlian tech is useless.
Same here and support is useless
Tried this several times. Can't seem to get the Beep. Can't even get to the password screen. Just bought this house with them already installed. And owner left no openers.
Sorry to hear it hasn't worked. I know my walk-through isn't an end all be all solution. Have you checked any troubleshooting guides or checking their website?
I have the same issue where it didn't beep after hitting the learn button. I unplugged and plugged it back in. I hit the yellow learn button 3 times and the blue light never blinks and I never hear a beep? Any recommendations?
What's your model of garage door open?
same here, all same before, the blue light just don't blink anyway
Same, click yellow button 3 times but blue light never starts flashing and no beep, i was on phone with support for 1 hour and we couldnt fix it, anyone know how to fix it? I already unplugged and plugged and also deleted app and reinstalled.
Hi can you tell me which remote control is suitable for this model I lost my remote thanks
Apologies didn't see this comment! If you want a dedicated garage door opener to have in your car, a universal garage door opener from Genie or chamberlain should work just fine. Double check what garage openers they are compatible with when purchasing.
I don't hear a beep either and I followed the same instructions from your video and the app.
If you go to your motor, unplug it, plug it back in and say in the app you didn't hear a beep, it will walk you through the steps to complete the sync.
@@ColtonCrumpDIY I do that, and then it wants me to enter 10 digit serial number, but my serial number is more than 10 digits??? I have a HD520EVP...thoughts?
Interesting. If you go back to the start of the app for walk-through help, your model is a little different than what I demonstrated. But hopefully the steps are pretty similar. The only thing that comes to mind is make sure you're selecting the correct garage opener in the app and reference your serial number on the front of your quick start guide or inside the hub (disconnect the AC adaptor, take 2 screws out of the bottom of the hub, serial should be right there on a green board
Or sorry if you don't have a hub, it's just on the end panel label
@@ColtonCrumpDIY thanks. It sounds like after reading below i have MyQ but not MyQ + Wifi so I will have to get the additional adapter. Thank You!
Can you check the serial number on the app? because i want to connect multiple phones to the garage opener.
Not that I'm aware of. I could be wrong so someone else correct me if I'm wrong but from what I understand the app just helps you identify the motor you need to follow the steps to them connect your wifi, garage, and app all together.
Ok, but can you connect multiple devices to the garage opener?
Yeah you can have like you or your partners phone both have the app and be connected to it to control when it opens and closes
Great except it doesn't work for me. You don't mention setting up the gateway which I assume has to be done first.
Did you watch the other parts I have? I show every step I do from taking it out of the box to operation.
This thing is straight up amazing!
My hub never comes up after I put in my wifi password. The app quit working last month and I had to get a new router and try resetting everything back up.
I have a Chamberlain Model # B2405. I Tried for 6 hours to get the opener to connect to the app, but every single time, right after I select the network, it stalls on the screen telling me to listen for beeps...no beeps ever, and the app eventually askes me if I hear beeps, I answer no, and it restarts the process again and again and again. Any ideas on what the problem could be would really be appreciated.
Oh man that's annoying. I'm sorry!!! So in short I don't have a fix for this as I didn't run into that issue. Have you checked with any troubleshooting guides on Chamberlains site? Or even customer support?
Do you have an answer to this? I'm having the same issue
I'm having this exact same problem. I select the network, put in the password and that it just stalls. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with support this morning and they had no ideas. Any thoughts?
The only thing I can think of is try switching to like a 2.5ghz for your wifi rather than a 5ghz. If your garage is struggling to connect to the app, then I can only foresee the issue as a wifi connectivity issue with the device. So, just thinking out loud, if your garage door is connected to your wifi on a 2.5ghz connection then you download the app and open up the app and your connection is on a 5ghz, the software of the opener may not be smart enough to switch between 2.5 and 5. So if you force your phone to connect to the 2.5, you're then in the same "wavelength' as your garage, and may be able to connect that way. But your phone is smart enough that you may be able to switch back to a 5ghz connection and still control your garage door? Worth a try?
@@ColtonCrumpDIY The router is a Linksys AC1900. It has 2 bands (2.4Ghz and 5GHz), I have them split and I am using the 2.4 (when I'm trying to connect to it the opener doesn't even "see" the 5Ghz band). I even tried moving the router closer to get a stronger wireless signal but no- go there either.
Mine will not let me put in my pass word. Not sure what to do now.
What step did you get to and what are you seeing? You could even email me at homesbycandb@gmail.com and we can continue the troubleshoot there
@@ColtonCrumpDIY It will not let me select my wifi, so I can't enter my password. I am going to the Chamberlain website now and see if I can get some help. I will let you know if I get results.
Keep me posted. Not sure what the best appropriate steps would be outside of what you are doing. If anything I'd just try to make sure you do have a strong wifi connection via phone v to ensure the distance from your router to garage is strong enough to be picked up.
@@ColtonCrumpDIY Thanks for the reply. I called the company and she walked me through it. It was more involved than I thought. It's working as intended now.
I do have a beta garage door opener, so Chamberlain was nice enough to send me a new one for free to try out. I simply have to answer questions they will have for me as I use the opener. So far I like it. Much quieter than my old genie.
Nice! So.... you're in the in a far as testing their products out before they make that the new standard. Glad you got it working!
I love your video, but I have just one question, can the myQ holder known what if I change the or recode the garage opener with the learn button? Also , can multiple users or owners have the same access as I do once they broke into my garage and got the app and the code and whenever I change the code, can they still have the same access as I can. And I can’t change my WiFi password and that I can speak to the whole world in the meantime, how can I keep a password of any kind. Please help. 😊😢
That's a great question that I honestly don't know the answer to. Have you checked on Chamberlains support page to see if they have any answers?
Do you know what those two yellow wires hanging out below the motor box are?
It's likely the antenna wire in order to detect the signal from push button openers like in your car or something. If not that I'm not 100% sure
Are you able to stop the door at a midway point to have it partially open?
You can partially open your garage with normally any garage door opener nowadays. You push it to start to open or close, push it again while it's opening to stop at that point, then push it again to go the opposite direction.. if you're asking if you can partially open it while installing this, I'd recommend you don't and follow the steps in the instruction manual for a proper and successful install.
My opener is ignoring my 2nd press of the remote.
My app brings up 3 garage doors. How do I know which one to choose. I’ve looked all over garage door opener to find numbers that match. No luck
Interesting ... are any of your neighbors setting up their garage doors at the same time? Usually setting up your garage you are placing your garage in a "find me to connect" mode and then it's easy to just connect the one and you're good. What you could try if you're not able to find any matching numbers to verify your garage door connectivity, is pick one to connect to and set it up. Test it via your phone first and if it opens your garage door only sweet. If it opens up someone elses garage door, then that's a huge design flaw and chamberlain customer service should be notified and get a new garage door opener lol
Mine shows very weak WIFI, both my Android and iPhone show excellent WiFi signal next to garage door opener. Fails to connect to WiFi.
Hmmm..... would you consider a repeater to boost the wifi strength for you garage door?
@@ColtonCrumpDIY I actually have a mesh repeater located in the garage. Was eventually able to easily setup with my Android. App wasn’t working on my iPhone, garage door works flawlessly now.
Oh okay cool!!! Glad you were able to fix it and get it working! Thanks for watching and commenting!
When you unplug the opener and then plug it back in, will it erase the code for my external keypad?
It shouldn't. Every one I have installed keeps the code in memory. Think of a power outage, those don't require a reprogramming of the garage code every time it happens.
Good point. thanks.
i have one question. How do i connect another garage opener to the myQ app?
Hey Brieuc! I'm actually not sure how to hook up a second one. I would imagine if you have a 2 or more door garage, that you could open the app and just do these same steps for both garage door openers and then you would have access to both?
@@ColtonCrumpDIY no worries, it was my fault. you simply press the + button on the bottom right 🤦♂️ my fault for not noticing. great video though
Awesome! Glad you found it!! Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy your garage doors! :)
Can I close the garage from anywhere?
Yep! That's the beauty of myQ. If you have the app downloaded on your phone and you have 4g or 5g or wifi somewhere else or even internet access in some way, you can open and close your garage from anywhere
@@ColtonCrumpDIY thank You So much!
You are welcome! Thanks for watching!!!
Can I program with more than one phone ?
You can link more than one phone to control your garage
This is a great info
Thanks Arni!!
I have a question can you connect one opener to 2 devices?
So you're saying, one garage opener but having 2 phones that operate it?
If so, you have to create or invite them as a myQ Guest under the myQ Guests menu. They then accept the invite from their email, install the app, and create their own account, they will have access to the same garage door.
Colton Crump DIY Ok thanks you so much I will definitely try this out
Let me know if you have any issues! Best of luck
I tried to invite others for co-users, but they keep having problem to accept the invitation in “MyQ app”, every time they clicked Accept, it will pop up a message showing “There was an error connecting to the server. Please check you connection and try again”. Do you know how to solve this problem? I’ve tried to reset the wifi set up on the garage motor, but it still has this problem.
Does this app cost money to use
Nope
Mine tells me something about provisioning mode, what am i missing??
Provisioning mode is essentially programming mode. That's a good thing.
I have tried for months. After following all instructions multiple times, I still get the message; not in provisioning mode. I have even installed a booster in my garage. What am I doing wrong? Thx for any assistance you can provide because Chamberlain has not helped at all.
@@lancevardaman1323 Hey Lance sorry for the late reply. The only thing I can think of is maybe items in this article will help? support.chamberlaingroup.com/s/article/Why-won-t-my-Wi-Fi-garage-door-opener-go-into-Wi-Fi-mode-1484145704649
Can you do this without wifi?
You are able to set this up without wifi. It will operate as a normal garage door would (button and sensors) you just skip over the wifi parts.
Strange I am able to go through the complete process but I cannot see the opener in the app
If I understand you correctly, upon opening the app, you can't control your garage door remotely via your phone?
HELP!!! recently moved into a new home and the previous owner has one of these in the garage, have the app, went through the steps and the garage isn't connecting to my app/account so I'm not getting to those last steps. I've looked everywhere and even tried resetting the unit to disconnect/reconnect it to my wifi. I have a strong signal in my garage too. what's wrong??
I have the same model as your demo.
Thanks for the comment and question James. The only thing I can think of is unplugging and testing the garage door opener. There may be an issue where the previous owner has it set up, you would essentially put it back into finding mode to link up to your phone and forget all other devices it may be linked to. Have you tried their help page or support forums?
@@ColtonCrumpDIY Yes. I've looked through their help pages and customer support and everything I've seen is just WiFi issues etc. nothing about actual issues with unit/app issues like what I'm currently having. I've unplugged the garage (at times left it unplugged for 5 mins) hard reset and erased it back to start (Holding the middle button for 10 seconds resets the memory and network) I've even tried deleting and reinstalling the app on my phone. I'm still having issues. I'm hoping to get this resolved soon since we've got some snowy weather later this week.
Do you know if you're trying to connect to a 5ghz vs a 2.4 ghz on your wifi? I know sometimes that screws some technology up
@@ColtonCrumpDIY Not exactly sure, but it's showing that it's connected to my network. Not sure what my ghz signal my wifi is. I can't think of what else to try?
Id push button three time in a row and blue light doesnt come up 😢
can someone helps ??? I follow the steps but I never got a BLUE light blinking, can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong, again I did all previous steps carefully until the blue light .
Are you trying to connect by waking through the steps on your wall door opener or the actual motor of your opener?
@@ColtonCrumpDIY I tried both ways, I do not hear the beep and when I press the yellow button 3 times I do not get the blue blinking light, trying again now as we speak
You tried to also just unplug it and plug it back in. Giving it a "hard reset"?
@@ColtonCrumpDIY thank you for your help I just realized my chamberlain has the MYQ logo but not WIFI so I guess it doesn't have wifi I'll have to buy an attachment accessorie or something to make it wi-fi, again thank you for the interest
Nelson Valdes, if your garage door opener has the MyQ logo and wifi logo on it, then it will be compatible with the app which needs WiFi. What model is your garage door opener?
GPS?
I'm not sure what you're asking.
Mine is saying that there is no devices even after completing the process?
Were there any steps that I outlined that didn't work? What's your garage door model?
Same here. C870 model. Tried setup multiple times but when it completes, it just goes to the home page and says no devices 😤
Also if I go to device management I can see the device there and asks me to select a hub to complete setup...but from my understanding when it was purchased the hub is not needed. Or was I misinformed from the product description lol
Were both of you able to connect to wifi properly and have a strong enough signal?
@@ColtonCrumpDIY figured mine out. Using an android at first wouldn't work. Tried on my iPad and it was able to connect just fine with no issues. And now have access across all my devices 👍🏽👍🏽
