With a band, there's more of a possibility of disagreements with band mates; whereas by himself, there's no tension in disagreeing with your own ideas.
I love the fact Jon is from my home town, I had the chance to sit and chat with him out side a pub in fleet wood and he's a really nice guy and willing to chat to any of his fans :) amazing work Jon keep it up man!!
Absolutely astounding what one man can do with a guitar. And guitarists all over the world owe musicians such as this so much, they really pave the way. Also the fact that they are willing to give master classes is fantastic, it allows other musicians to gain some insight into the genius they possess. Please don't stop creating music which makes my jaw drop every time I hear it.
his approach to guitar/drums/percussion/songwriting is just astounding. A year ago I saw his Passionflower video, and it changed how I viewed the instrument and it's musical limitlessness forever. :)
The wobbling is because of post-process image stabilization. You can see the Tech logo in the top right dancing around because of it. It keeps Jon's guitar stable so we can see what he's doing, but distorts the background. Still though, great vid.
drumstik The tuning he uses is Eb, G, Bb, F, G, Bb BUT! you may want to use it a whole tone higher, F, A, C, G, A, C It'll work better with normal strings then
Thanks, I'm a bit old and set in my ways for new exotic tunings. There is so much cool guitar stuff on You Tube. I'd be guitar God if I had this when I was an acid fueled kid. :)
Wow I have been doing percussive stuff on guitar for about two years now. I have to say his approach is the cleanest I have ever seen. Realm the only problem I can see is it requires a little more equipment. I have to say in terms of caliber he is the best guitarist I have ever seen.
Definitely one of them give Tommy Emanuel a try..rainbow and classical gas to start. He is another. If you like him and want some more names, just ping me. ;-)
Sheeeeiiittttt! This is taking multi-tasking to a scary level! I think I'm doing well just fingerstyling a sequence of chords in the right order! Thing is, this doesn't come across as a gimmick, ,it sounds really good, he's definitely up there with Tommy Emmanuel but I've never heard of him before?
playing guitar like this kinda seems like a cult thing to me, seeing as how Ive been searching for months on a place to get some solid advice and structured lessons on this style and have found very little. so many people want to learn but cant unless they go to berkley or some other crazy expensive academic hall. you are a very good teacher sir perhaps you should make a dvd set or something to fully enlighten others who would enjoy this gift as much as you.
Simply amazing cant wait to see him perform live next week. But not that this has anything to do with music but its a great business idea - Jon Gomm should release his own condom line called 'GomDoms' just need a good tag line now
Ah my fuck! What is that song and why can't I find a full version?! If he's made that up on the fly and not made a full version of it I think I might go mad! O.O
thats because he needs the space for the drum and percussion style-if the strap was in the common place it would be in his way.. not sure if thats true though ;D
You can't practice this. This is just innate talent. No matter how many hours anyone practice. No body will be able to play the way Jon Gomm plays cause this is some how a Divine gift.
Absolutely, i will learn this lick to bluff on music store.
Of course, playing a musical instrument uses all of your body, mind and soul. Jon is a good example of this pursuit, art, and evolution.
With a band, there's more of a possibility of disagreements with band mates; whereas by himself, there's no tension in disagreeing with your own ideas.
The tuning peg trick is so good. Chills every time
Ming Wu can I have your phone number, please !

He's got everything. He's got a lot. He's quick. He's fast. And he's got pace.
his approach to guitar/drums/percussion/songwriting is just astounding. A year ago I saw his Passionflower video, and it changed how I viewed the instrument and it's musical limitlessness forever. :)
that is a great performance of passionflower-- need to have that uninterrupted!!
And that, my friends, is what a world class guitarist looks like.
It's all very well, Jon, for you to explain how your guitar is a drum kit, but that doesn't explain your outrageous talent!!
He does. He says he began playing guitar at four. It's not so much innate talent as it is hard work, all his life, since the tenderest age.
The word talent undermines the action of a lifetime of dedicated practice. He's been playing guitar since he was 4.
this guy is awesome....i've been following jon Gomm for quite a good time, and I never get tired of listening to him
This is the most I've ever been entertained by watching someone play the guitar. Wow.
I was watching this video just to see how he does what he does and wasn't expecting him to go into "Surrender"
Excellent! You show us others ways. Thanks you.
Wow Jon, this is a brilliant lesson and the performance out of this world... thank you.
This guy is so inspiring

Who dislikes this? This man is a genius
It's still fun to play in a band. I wouldn't say more fun, they're both pretty awesome.
Awesome, good song too
O
Truly awesome...
There is hope of playing guitar for all your bodhran players out there... or vice versa :) .. amazing!!

Surrender - Jon Gomm thats the name of the example, and the intro song is passionflower
superb.....
I can't for the life of me tell if he's in DADGAD. I can't believe I just found this guy today. Thanks.
drumstik The tuning he uses is Eb, G, Bb, F, G, Bb

Really fantastic and very inspirational. THANKS JON!
Awesome just no other word for this gifted man :-))
Rodrigo Y Gabriela is duo with a similar playstyle. This man is a gift to those who hear him
Magic...that's the only explanation I could come up with...magic

I am a big fan and this is like the second video I see from you... OH MY GOD> this guy is amazingggg.

Surrender, found on Jon's album called "Don't Panic"
music isnt about names but feelings.
Amazing! Absolute genius!
wish the background music was not there when he is talking.
Bloody brilliant, must buy a guitar :-)
Que maravilla😍😍😍
your sire are a genius!
The name of the song in the background was Passionflower

He's a genius!
At your back side of your guitar what is it.. could you please tell me.. Wanna buy the equipment... If you explain it
You make it look so freaking easy. Shit is not easy.
if i gather an army of zombies....will i be able to play passionflower?
That was the day i put down my guitar and became good at listening
awesome voice too OMG he must be GOD
Ah my fuck! What is that song and why can't I find a full version?! If he's made that up on the fly and not made a full version of it I think I might go mad! O.O
Surrender - Jon Gomm.
I bet his Local Guitar Shop goes into immediate Lockdown when they see him coming.😂🤣😂
RUclipsだから見た目が映えるほうがウケがいいからなとスクールの先生はいうけど別にそんなことはないと思うけど…曲がいいしね。
What is the m'fuckin' tuning to the intro song in this video. Never heard anything like it. Amazing
Is there a Jon Gomm pill we can take?
Steve Vai Style... VERYYYYYYY COOOOL
+OPensad0r and Vai got it from Zappa
lol
Sir can you breakdown amin toofani rythm please a tutorial
fucking brilliant!!
but bloody amazing though!
if he played in a band he wouldnt have to worry about doing all these percussive things and its more fun to play in a band
Passionflower
"If you're a percussionist, you should get a guitar"....Funny, but after the demo, I kind of agree with him.
he sounds a lot more aussie than i ever guessed by his singing
Was that a sitar on 08:50?
Is the camera tracking the guitar, so the guitar is always in the same place relative to the frame, or am I drunk?
wh what effects does he use to get his sound?
HOW? HOW???
Yes, it's called practice.
thats because he needs the space for the drum and percussion style-if the strap was in the common place it would be in his way.. not sure if thats true though ;D
whats is the name of music??
Playing by tuning ... interesting. I can see it first time.
The song he's teaching is called surrender.. I can't reply to ppl cuz I'm on my phone ;-;
What is the name of the intro song he plays?!
It's one of his songs called Passionflower. Amazing song :)
Jon Gomm has 4 brains
It must be the rubber pencil illusion...Or the video is actually on acid; the neck on his guitar and the mic stand are bending.
what's the song @ 6:10 ???
the song at 7:25???
fuck this guy is good !!
this guy
wanna hear it without artificial reverbs
Anyone else noticed the way he wears the strap?
I don't know what the big deal is, this is really pretty easy.
any idea what his tuning is?
Haven't found out yet
Eb, G, Bb, F, G, Bb
You can't practice this. This is just innate talent. No matter how many hours anyone practice. No body will be able to play the way Jon Gomm plays cause this is some how a Divine gift.
Steve Vai on acoustic guitar))))))
Probably both.
See... computers can just do anything.... Greetings from Poland.
you couldn't do this to save your life
Fuck!!! It's better than any Tommies, Igors, Sunghas, Andys, Dons etc.
Mark holms
