I appreciate so many ideas and illustrations in this sermon! Very encouraging. Unfortunately, many SDA educators don't know or ignore many aspects of Ellen's counsel on education. She condemns fiction, and yet we teach it in our academies and colleges. We violate Philippians 4:8 in our literature and humanities classes. Why do we sell Christian fiction in our bookstores? Phillip and 4:8 tells us we should think about what is true...(there are a handful of schools and colleges that do try to follow the divine blueprint, and there is some following of her counsels in our colleges and universities). But we have nothing to prove that the vast majority of our major educational and medical institutions' leaders take all inspired counsels seriously.
Ellen talks about opera. Yet some of the music departments in college teach opera. Why are hospitals serving meat when Ellen says if a patient insists, cater it and let the patient eat in his room. I believe we need to know all God says in the Bible and through Ellen. As a church, we largely ignore what the Bible and Ellen taught about modesty of dress. 😢
