A Very Very BIG Thank You to the person who posted this video. He actually took the time to explain every little important detail obviously from many experiences doing this maintenance. This was super helpful.
Thankyou for this very descriptive tutorial. I've not done a transmission service before and plan to undertake this service soon on my 2003 CL55. This is the best video I've seen on this topic. Thanks again.
Thanks ! You're very good explaining and showing us what to do. No BS nor trying to show off. You are a very good and clear instructor. Congratulations😉
Thanks for your great advice! In particular, the critical positioning/timing of the electrical plastic housing to match up with the transmission housing keyways on the 722.6 trans on my 2006 Sprinter!! My original OEM part was leaking. A good trick I came up with was to clean/ "drain" the harness and socket was using a clean shop towel and small shop vacuum. You were right- the fluid had traveled vertically. After about 5 minutes of vacuum, moving the towel in front of harness socket, it wicked dry. Thanks again!
You are a great mechanic and a wonderful teacher. Thank you for another amazing video. I started working on my Mercedes in November last year after letting it sit and neglecting it for a few years while my son drove the car. I would have discovered and watched your channel at the beginning.
Very systematic way of servicing M.benz automatic transmission. The video was very clear and so with the instruction, I just thought that the old transmission fluid from the torque converter should have been drained and renewed as well, otherwise you've done an excellent work Sir, thank you so very much for your time and effort.
Excellent video, thank you for covering everything most other videos missed especially that electrical connector. Personally I didn’t bother with the fluid extractor, or the drain plug, just dropped the trans pan. I avoided removing the drain plug to ensure I wouldn’t introduce a leak from the drain bolt.
Hi there and thank you very much for this excellent video. I'm picking up a CLK 270 cdi with this 'box and as soon as I get the car I want to go through it to make sure all fluids and filters are new.
very knowledgeable and done with care. Unlike someone else who operated with one shaky hand and forced delicate plastic around and pretended to be an expert. A joy to watch.
Good work on your part, at least we know the difficulty of changing the oil from the automatic gearbox and changing the mechanisms that surround it, thank you, great work
I like that style of pan gasket. My 2013 Passat uses a gasket similar to that. What I like is that there is no silicone to scrape or get into the transmission accidentally. If that stuff finds its way into the valve body it will be a bad day!!
Diesel Mercedes, thanks much for a great how to video. Will be changing 722.6 transmission fluid in my 2001 ML430. Most of all, I like your wood very sturdy car ramp design that I built one like yours but with two 2x6 doweled and glued together since my SUV and car have 9" wide tires.
You made it look easy great video, I have an E320 which has a hydraulic knock possible from the transmission, I have changed all the motor mounts and changed the diff oil, this is my next job in the hope to solve this problem
Thank you very simple and clean instruction plain as Day videos fantastic and your instruction the way you presented on the money thank you I have a 2012 E350 turbo diesel Bluetec 3.0 6 cylinder turbo diesel very helpful keep these videos coming covering for any other repairs on a Mercedes E350 2012 BlueTEC
very good video. I have waited for years for a video like this. I have a CLK W208 2.0 with automatic transmission, but I guess the work is very similar.
I really like your way of presenting videos. This will be great for my S210.265, but I will also drain the torque converter, which has another three quarts of dirty trans fluid in it.
As always, Excellent and very well done. I need to replace the brake booster hose for my 1998 MBZ E320, I took out the old hose end from the booster side, but I cannot take the old hose end from the intake side. Please help. Very much obliged.
Aw man thanks for doing this. I am about to do the conductor plate replacement. I have gasket filter new plug and conductor plate. But I have not gotten my new fluid yet and I do not have a torque wrench 🔧. What wrench would you recommend? Also do you get your fluid from amazon? Thanks. Joe
Hey, excellent job!!, do you think the clearance would be enough to replace the pan without raising the whole car, I mean with only jacking the front ( with both jack stands under the front doors points ) ? .
Just curious about your wheel stands. How do you get the vehicle up high enough to place those wooden wheel stands under the wheel? And what are they made of?
Cool thing, you are the only one who mentioned filter pin...Do you work on a hot clutch? I suppose more oil can be drained while it is on 80C...or I am wrong
Sir Excellent Video! Question Please The red / Burgundy type "Victor" brand O-Ring on the on the wired part of the interconnectingTransmission 13-Pin Connector Adapter Plug, might you know the Mercedes-Benz part number or possible Victor part number? And why do you not replace this O-ring? Thank you Ronald
Hi. Just to make sure: the measuring tool doesn’t goes totally in: it goes until the tip touches the end and it remains about 300/400mm out, right? Thanks
Hello . Super this video. I wonder if it is imperative to replace the electrical connector above the housing. what is this connector for? Filter? Strainer? I must make this replacement soon and I prefer to do the full drain. Do you still have the reference of your kit? Thank you and congratulations for this video !!!!
If you have no leaks you can simply use a fluid extractor and pump out about 1 gallon of ATF from the dipstick hole of the transmission and replace it with equal amount of fresh ATF with no hassles. Repeat it three times after driving a little in between fluid exchanges and you replaced most of the ATF fluid by dilution quickly and easily. Do it every 4 years and it will be sufficient maintenance for the life of this transmission. You can do this from the engine bay while wearing your suit :). The cost will be ~$20/gallon per fluid exchange, if you use the fully synthetic Valvoline ATF that is approved for this transmission and works fine. My 20+ year old ML is at 250K miles and the transmission runs smoothly.

Do you have to drain the fluid before you change the electrical plug? Can I just swap the plug without losing fluid?
thanks so much for the video! where can I find the tipe of automatic transmission fluid for my 2003 G55? thanks
Torque for the plastic connector is 3nm for those interested.
Thanks very much!
2.5 Nm per WIS. But no one has such torque wrenches, so you just tighten it by the feel.
Thank you
@@vaseabmwe39 can you post a link for that nm wrench
