well if you like arcturus i suggest you listen to votex's other band borknagar,he plays bass and sings occasionally in dimmu borgir, swallow the sun is great, opeth,soilwork,dark tranquillity, bal sagoth, daylight dies, emperor, katatonia and thats just some of the top of my head.. enjoy

aside from being super talented, he is very nice and personable. i met him when dimmu first toured the US and he was amused that not only had i heard la masquerade infernale, but that i liked it so much. he sang a few bars and i was shocked at how perfect his pitch was. a word to wise, go to concerts early, especially if they're non-mainstream bands. chances are you'll end up meeting, possibly even hanging out with the band.

The reason he doesn't in this song is because he wasn't the one who made up the vocal melodies in this song. He is just singing it as the singer before him sang it.

you have to understand that this was earlier stuff. Even the vocals on Borknagars "The Archaic Course" are like these. Vortex really didn't work out his vocals until later when Quintessence came out.

Vortex is a nice vocalist, that's for sure. But Garm gets a voice really cold, it was perfect with the atmosphere of the band and, for me, Vortex gets a voice too warm.

On the studio album the track i song by Garm (Ulver). Maybe therefore Vortex has a bit difficulty, but his performance is awesome none the less.
