More copper is key, the vibrations fatigue the solder joints and they break, strengthening the sculpture makes it safer to transport too , ive posted them all over the world with no issues, i understand you want the minimal look but they dont last unfortunatly. I think you will have issues with the lift, once the copper and marbles get dirty/ dusty the lift wheel will ride over the marble and jam behind because of the extra friction, best to strengthen the wheel ( make it more 3d)
Sad you disassembled the old one it was definitely a unique design. I think it’s a great start. Novel idea. Maybe do an identical lift offset and lower use the same drive motor for both have the ball roll from the top of one to the bottom of the other for taller drop. Wall mounted is a great idea as well. No side table or dedicated space to set it for display.
Good start and idea. Is it possible to remove the wood and support the wheel axis in some other way? Then make a soldered back for the ball hole? This would make the sculpture a lot more airy instead of a closed in appearance.

That looks like a great idea, cant wait to see it progress.
You and me both!

Thanks Mike. 🙏
Cool idea, good luck,
Thank you. 👍🙏👍
You are the copper wire whisperer.
Thanks. (That’s a compliment right??) 🤔

Yes Bob, lots of far away ideas of how to make it light and airy. For now it’s just prototyping.
