    My condolences. I would like to also start building my own marble track, but i dint really know how to start. Could you maybe help me? Thanks

    • @CopperGravity
      @CopperGravity 7 дней назад

      Thanks. I would start by getting just enough materials and tools to have a go at making some tracks. If you find that can join metal strongly enough to hold, make a sculpture design and get going. There is a “knack” to soldering and that’s something that no one can teach. My five tips for most new hobbies is practice, practice, practice, practice and practice.

      @jeomaopeendriewieler1780 7 дней назад

      @ thanks, ive got all the tools and stuff, ive made some tracks, i have a base that i want to use but i just dont know how to start building it, is it best of i start with the motor and spiral and cables or with building the track?

    • @CopperGravity
      @CopperGravity 7 дней назад

      Yeah. I generally do base, electrics, motor, framework, lift, loading and unloading of the lift, track. But it will depend on your specific design. It can easily take half the project time to get to the downhill track stage.

    • @jeomaopeendriewieler1780
      @jeomaopeendriewieler1780 7 дней назад

      @@CopperGravitythanks, should i just build the lift, and then just freestyle the rest or make a ‘drawing’ for the design, and make the framework and tracks to the design i drew? Thanks for your previous answers and taking the time to answer my questions!😅

    • @CopperGravity
      @CopperGravity 7 дней назад

      I usually just draw the frame and lift as they are most important to a successful project. And then I have a rough idea of the tracks in my mind. Free styling is fun, but make sure you keep an eye on the whole look. Best thing is to start and see what happens! My first four attempts went straight in the bin.

    I just discovered your videos today, and they’ve inspired me to give it a try as well. From what you’ve shared, your father seemed like a remarkable man who motivated those around him through his actions and intelligence. I’m certain he touched many lives in both his professional and personal worlds. I truly believe that when one person is inspired, that inspiration continues to spread-and in that way, his memory lives on. Best wishes

      @@CopperGravity Thanks for the detailed answer! Observing the sparks, I assumed something like that-that is, that one pole of power is fed to the soldered product, and another pole on the soldering iron. Very interesting, I never met such a type of soldering iron, and did not even know that they were made industrially. The price, of course, is too big. I strongly doubt that there is some kind of complex electronics inside the power supply, except perhaps a short circuit protection. PS Happy New Year!

    Beautiful. I'm trying to figure out how to solder, why don't you use flux?

    • @CopperGravity
      @CopperGravity 16 дней назад

      Hi Clay. I used to use flux. But these days I don’t feel the need for it. I find that I’ve got better at soldering over the years snd I don’t feel that flux brings any benefits to the party. Also, it takes much more work to clean away the flux muck. Thanks for the question.

    I'm curious, what makes you use the flame instead of electricity for the last solder joints?

    • @CopperGravity
      @CopperGravity 28 дней назад

      Hi. Flames make the material hotter, which is useful for larger diameter wires and tubes with no other solder joints nearby. In this case I was joining 5mm tubes to 2mm wire and from experience, I knew that flame would be more suitable.
