Man I really love the details on both..... Being a like minded leather geek, watch geek, and car geek, I can appreciate the extensive steps you've taken to perfect these vehicles! Hell yes to those AN fittings.

Masterpiece of engineering and quality. I’d take one with a supercharged LS motor cause I’m just a power junky. 👍

Boy, I really like the way you build things to last. The powder coat is awsome. You should build your own version of a new 4x4. I can only imagine what it would look like. Great job Mr. Ward.

I am a long time fan. Probably one of your first viewers on RUclips. But I absolutely love your brand. From these to the Derelicts nothing but top quality. I totally appreciate your drive to excellence. That is my approach to everything in life. If I am ever blessed to have the finances for such fine works of engineering your company will be on4 of my first stops. An old school FJ and a Derelict would fulfill my needs as a car guy geek. Great job on the video and thanks for doing it even tho you're feeling under the weather. ICON rocks!!!

    A 30 minute video! Sweet!
Old school keep the hood latches stainless.
A sweet truck would be a combination of the two.
Trim and badging and dash knobs from old school put with dash and wheels and bumpers of new school. 😎

Keep the hood clips stainless to coincide with the other features as you described. It also reinforces the old school designs.

I’ve been watching for along time great work and touches on your projects! Old school hood latches, nameplate, hubcaps and interior windshield latches continuity counts🙂 Now I have the urge to get our Jeepster out of storage! I was with my parents when they picked it out in the parking lot in Toledo so it’s been around with us for awhile. Planning out the reformer look your doing... but the odd fire engine stays, it just has that sound. lol. Awesome stuff! great inspirations. Might have to see if I can get the instrument bezel from your wagoneer project... that will open up the can of worms for me. And yes, it’s clean, no rust, top will be done by a real shop that does real projects and they realize it’s not going to be “just a Jeep”.
Keep making great rides, thank you!

This is the coolest company I have seen doing this. Any type of vehicle you like they will build you the vehicles are timeless I stumble on videos from 5-6 years ago and the icon vehicles are still relevant and ahead of there time

i would love one of each. then drive a different one to work everyday and see if anyone notices. love the product. thank you for doing this comparison while you're not up to snuff. hood latches in stainless on the old school look nice, i think i like them there. plays off the hubcaps a bit, a little shiny never hurt no one. thank you for sharing and caring.

Kudos to you, @jonathanward and @icontoyotalandcruiser ! You clearly are a fellow 'geek' who understands-in Jobs-ian fashion (as in Steve)-the ultimate outcome that occurs when form and function are woven together at a subatomic level (metaphorically speaking - kind of...), and doesn't compromise until the vision is birthed. As a patented inventor who can't seem to turn off my idea spigot even when I sit down to eat, I was impressed by your deep knowledge, design understanding, and obvious passion for excellence. Thank you for sharing your work with the world - and well-heeled customers! :) My favorite vehicle out of many over my 45+ years of driving, has always been my white 1981 FJ40. After watching it drive around town for years, my hounding of the previous owner finally paid off and I purchased it in '93 in all original, never off-roaded, mint condition for $4K. Looking forward to seeing it 'reborn' with excellence - yet I also believe, as De Vinci said, that "simplicity is the ultimate sophistication." So I want to merge the old and new with perfection.

Love these videos, especially all of the details you put into them. Question - You said the bodies are built by a company you work with. Is that just for the four door models? Or are all of the (non derelict) FJ Icon's built with new bodies?

Love your trucks. Just a question. Why a rear locker? I offroad and daily drive in snow. I find a rear limited slip better for 95% of time. I think the ultimate set up would be rear limited slip/thorsen that was lockable.

Everything is perfectly designed and beautiful. Only thing i would say is, there’s no need for 2 different button designs. New school or old, buttons should just be the one with the pictures on it. On your “new school” with the letters on it, it makes no sense. I was wondering what the heck those were and what they do? With pictures, it makes perfect sense what they are and do. That’s the only thing I think should be changed, and it’s easier anyways so u don’t have to do 2 designs for buttons.

Wireless CarPlay kinda sucks imo. 1. you want to charge your phone when in the car. 2. pairing multiple phones to the radio is a terrible experience. a wire is the best UX when it comes to who's paired. 3. having the phone mounted and plugged in gives you a second screen when you are getting directions or Gaia GPSing.
