  • Road Glide "Level 1" Upgrades - Harley Davidson Ohlins Screaming Eagle Shocks! Harley Davidson Ohlins Screaming Eagle Shocks, new suspension on my Road Glide! I finally got to use the ‪@harleydavidson‬ Screaming Eagle ‪@Ohlins‬ shocks they sent me a while back on my new 2022 Road Glide. Here's a quick rundown on the install, and I was able to get a quick ride in to see the immediate difference. I can't wait to go on a long ride on the bike since I can already tell that though they are made for performance, they also do a fantastic job of smoothing out huge holes and gaps in the pavement. I am impressed, and the remote reservoirs add a toughness to the aesthetics of the rear of the bike.

And to think of all the road-trips I’ve taken on stock suspension, all the ripples and buckles in the pavement you don’t see, you just feel it after the fact, rip up your spine when you hit it, and you just take it, say a few cuss roads, and stay on the gas.🤣🤣🤣 Can’t wait to upgrade on my build!

I agree with suspension being one of the top upgrades I made to my touring Harley. What bothers me is for what Harleys cost they should come with the better suspension components from the factory.

@@hitituprohb If your being patient is a money thing, start with just the rear and do the front later on. I bought Legands front and rear a couple of years ago for my '15 Ultra Classic so I know it's expensive. I installed the rear when they came in and hoping to finally install my front this rear lol. There's such a huge difference from factory shocks with just the rear.

I got the same bike. It doesn't compare to aftermarkets, but the spine-shattering ride goes away at about 1,200 miles. After the break in the rear shocks start to act like suspension.

  • @clemc5457

Just put Legends on mine. Ohlin’s might be adjusted the same since they look similar so…
    1. Adjust the sag first.
With me on the bike, the distance from the lower mounting bolt to the upper (center to center) should be 12” +/- ¼“ which puts it right in the middle since my shocks are 11” fully compressed and 13” uncompressed.
    2. Set the rebound to mid range and leave it there for now. Adjust the compression until the ride is comfortable for you (not too stiff or too soft)
    3. Adjust the rebound until the bike just reaches that point where it doesn’t “bounce” after a bump in the road.
    Fantastic suspension.
Happy trails and thanks for another great video.

Suspension is my top three things for a new bike whether it would be brand new or new used because suspension can make the bike feel completely different as in handles better and just all around hugs the road and doesn't throw you out of the seat or bottom out😊

On a street glide or a road glide I would not be opposed. Has a nice performance look I don’t believe I would like the look on my ultra limited. It’s my understanding that the reservoirs add additional oil to keep the temp down so the viscosity and ride stays consistent.
I must say I have really enjoyed your content lately. Thanks for the hard work.

it is interesting how bad the stock tour suspension is. It took 1 week on my sgs to swap out. I chose Legend. some friends run them and were happy. Im a big dude, and so having the 1" shorter special shocks didnt work great, and legend swapped them for free out to the standard length shocks. Rode a week and a half 5000 miles and were very happy with them.

Suspension is a certifiably crucial upgrade. Especially on the front end with the typical peanut butter squish on all Harleys. When I did mine it was a night/day difference in ride quality. Whether öhlins, legends, racetech, RWD; long as it's one of the higher end brands you're winning. Just wait till you put those cartridges in 💪🏻💪🏻 there tons of great stuff on the racetech site about suspension physics (sag, rebound, preload).

I'm a "full-figured" guy myself, and I plan on some cross-country rides from time to time. I ride solo mostly but occasionally will run with my wife, who is...how to say this...well, she's got curves. Just looking for input.

IF i can get that one, im thinking id want the upgraded front and rear suspension as my first big upgrades. Hoping the RGS sits a bit lower and I can flat foot it. I was only able to get on the balls of my feet on the limited....and I really like the extended bags on the RGS.....so we will see. What are your thoughts about the suspension though...major upgrade?

I don’t care how good it rides, that look is just not for me. I got my first bagger, a Street Glide, in November. Just able to start riding somewhat the last week or so. The ride was much harsher than my softail and I really thought I’d need to change out the shocks. Then I read the owners manual and adjusted the shocks for my weight. It smoothed out considerably and now I’m not sure if I’ll bother changing them at all.
