One thing that could be added to it check the drive belt see if it's frayed or there's chunks of rubber missing also look at the rear sprocket for damage as those are big ticket items to fix
Checking out a used bike tip: Run your hand along the inside of the rear fender then look at your fingers. Lots of little rubber pieces means that bike may be a burnout contest champion. With the accompanying clutch, transmission and chain/drivebelt wear from the abuse.
Carfax on my FatBoy showed that it had been in an accident. Made me look a bit closer and I could see where the front fender had been painted. So yes, you can get a carfax on your bike.
I vote- No color swap! You have a red and chrome bike. You need a blacked out bike.. just put some Custom Dynamics plasma rods along the sides of the saddle bags between the rear fender and add their bag latch lights too 👍🏻
Newer sub , first time commenting , had the same code after working on my exhaust ,sensor worked before . Checked the service manual and stated 02 sensor crush washer must be change if you are going to reuse sensor . My local Harley shop charged me $1.91 per washer , btw the service manual states to cut the old washer off with side cutters , hope this helps . Enjoy your vids .
I purchased a 16’ RG ultra with 2000 miles on it in 18’ Nice machine but prefer something a little more nimble. Was a little apprehensive of about longevity and maintenance but I will do most everything myself ( wrenching AND riding ) so it works out. Enjoy the vids about club stuff, probably never be in one but it’s interesting learning. Dennis Kirk is near my home so I’m lucky to be able ride up or drive and be there in 25. Keep up the good work and I just subscribed !!
Where the shifter arm comes out from the transmission, check to see if loose and the splines are OK. If not, the shaft splines could be stripped and to replace is a BIG $$$ job.
This is literally perfect timing. Went and looked at a 2010 Dyna Super Glide today. 6400 miles on it super clean and garage kept. Getting it for IMO a steal. But I don't know a whole hell of a lot about bikes yet only started riding last year. Currently have an 02 Yamaha but I think it's time to upgrade to the American made money pit that I have wanted since I was like 7 lmfao
Thank you for showing me how to check the codes. Just did it on my 2020 Road Glide Limited. All codes came up as N. Such a simple thing but a total mystery had you not shown us.
All your brake fasteners are one time use also sir ... get em for the rear ... additionally we see the caliper issue all the time ... it is usually caused by build up that keeps the piston from retracting squarely or all the way ... every other ride I get off the bike .. apply the front brakes fully and spray them out with brake cleaner to ensure proper retraction and normal brake wear
Hi da Monk, I have to say , that Mrs Monkey is a very glamorous lady and all round nice person. Because don't forget that last year Mrs Monkey saved the bus full of children and nuns from the nasty bear.
When I bought my '97 Wide Glide I found it on chopper exchange, I looked at it for a month or more then I sized the rear cylinder on my iron head and was riding my V 65 Magna and it started knocking and my wife told me to talk to the bank and they said yes, I called the guy , he said eh got the check and to pick it up on Saturday then he took it to the dealer and did a 10 k on it with a new battery, I picked it up in October of '08, I took it to Sturgis '09 and '10 and '18, hoping to go this year
reminds me of one of the custom wheels from Rick's Harley-Davidson motorcycles in Bamberg Germany. that's actually where I'm ordering my front wheel from
Brake fluid needs changed every two years on the touring ABS models. The Harley ABS brake module doesn't hold up to moisture. Brake lever or foot pedal will get very hard and the brakes will be very limited. The module is not rebuildable. Needs to be replaced if the moisture creates rust inside.
So glad that you are still happy with buying your buddies bike. FAIR WARNING to Mr. Monkey and all "motorcycle enthusiasts", I live a 1/4 mile off the hard ball road and I ride primarily on back country roads. Leaving my farm on gravel that I share with tractors, it is NOT always smooth! I regularly replace fork seals!!! While doing so I check my brake calipers for slippage. Why? Because they are designed to move and my brake pads wear evenly. While my wheels are off I repack bearings with fresh grease because it's cheap, easy and adds to my bikes longevity. Knowing where a bike is ridden gives you knowledge of what abuse it may have seen. I would not buy a bike from any local because they, like me ride gravel and crappy Iowa back roads. And I'm pretty sure they are not as anal as I am about maintenance. Things to consider! You all are in my prayers Hoka Hey
Leak down test... Harley engines run hot, which causes a host of problems. Also do a hot oil level check. If it is low, the engine may be consuming oil. Drive belt inspection.
ask for any receipts of work done on a bike. I have kept all receipts from oil changes to stage upgrades in case I sell my bike. I think it shows that you've cared to keep it maintained.
Thinking of buying a preowned bike, so I find your journey of interest. My past experience has been mostly Honda bikes, so I don't have much experience with repairs. Unfortunately Honda no longer makes big cruisers, so I'll probably go Harley or Indian.
I can’t help but notice the Marshall Amp stack in the background. You play? I’ve been learning to play guitar for about two years now. You should make a video of you playing something.
Thanks for the videos, has helped me out a lot. You keep putting out great information. Thanks again. Now off topic, is it just me or does anyone else see Dom Deluise?
That noise with the horn. I have a buddy that has an '03 rk. Put the same horn on but now it's laying on the side of the road somewhere. IT FELL OFF !!
Additionally being very perceptive while I was watching your tab install video on the same bike I noticed that your rear tire date code is from the 30th week of 15 or 30th week of 16 probably needs to be changed to just as a matter of age
Question and possible video idea after you mentioned the conversation at Alligator Alley with your buddy. I'm south of Seattle (in an area where we aren't insane lefties) and am thinking about buying my first HD. There are 4 dealers within a reasonable distance from me that I can think of without looking and I'm wondering if there are any signs or telltales of a good or bad dealer to work with?
Dear friend. I see Harley Harley Harley Davidson ok 👍😀 I have been riding since 1968 I think... Never ever rode a HD. In California I had a Honda 500four and twin 450. In Norway (u been in Oslo))) I ride Aprilia 1000 (rotax twin)and Ducati 620 and Pgo 125. I want naked bikes, street fighter. Here in Thailand small Honda modified. Most of the people I am around HD. Ok 😂 What matter for me regarding bike is. Breaks, brembo, shocks Olin, magnesium rims and how much I can get on my back wheel. Good tires, oil. Cosmic no. Wear and tear by wind, rain, snow is beautiful... I used to ride all yr. If road clear of ice, well salted. I ride. 35- 40000 km a yr. Kinda funny, interesting to see how much time some put into a scratch etc. All bag and boxes 🙏 Thank you man God bless.
Tires , and ask for past service bills on services done , or ask where work is done at if no records , and go or call shop and as them questions about bike costs nothing to make a call and ask .
Check the tires. Not only tread depth, but also if the front and back are different brands. Ask why. If they say it came like that, it was probably done cheap and who else knows what else they replaced cheap. If they have legitimate reasons, you should be safe.
Hello sir, …. Appreciate any advice on how or why the speaker volume has dissipated on my 21’ CVO since I rode it home from winter storage this year 🤷 WIM settings and speed volume controls are off. Had no problem at all last year. I’m bringing it into dealership for warranty inspection, but love to trouble shoot this myself, appreciate all feedback 🤜🏻🤛
Pop the Tourpak speakers out and look for any corrosion on the terminals (green or white powdery substance). If you're so inclined, snatch the outer fairing off and inspect for the same thing at the front speakers, if so, clean with a stainless steel wire brush and apply dielectric grease to all suspected terminals. Also, check all the fuses in your fuse block for the same issue and clean and protect in the same fashion as I've already mentioned. You'll be SURPRISED how much cleaner your audio will be just by cleaning and protecting electrical connections. BIG thing to check also is the Ground on the lower triple tree on the left side.. It's a slip-on spade terminal from the factory.. CUT it OFF, crimp on a new RING terminal and BOLT it in place. Made a HUGE difference on my last TWO FLHTCUs..
@@mikekellam365 thank you for all that advice. My bike is a 2021 CVO Street glide with less than 5,000 miles(I’m a workaholic)😒 The amp or amp fuse is what I believe is the problem, have to wait till June 27 for my trusted service tech appointment 😩
I gotta know Monk, what dealership use to service his bike? I use a south Florida dealership in the 561 area code and I have one close to me in the 772 area that I don’t particularly like. Can you drop a hint?!?! Thanks lol
That would be Palm Beach Harley and Treasure Coast Harley. Service departments at both, suck. My friend lives down in Margetto. (Margate) He uses Alligator Alley's service dept. He said they're hit and miss.
2 different dealership's are going to have 2 different options on what changes to make. Take their suggestions and do your own research and decide what you want to do. Sounds like money isn't a issue with buddy he can do whatever
Make SURE you google how to properly burnish and seat new pads to a new rotor!! Ask me how "I KNOW"???? Just bought a new bike, same deal, front and rear brakes pulsate.. Took em off, "cleaned" them with a scotchbrite pad on a die-grinder to remove the surface imperfections, new HH Pads and did the proper break-in procedure, and low and behold, SMOOTH ass a Cat's ASS!! The Horn is a Wolo BadBoy, and it's a GREAT Horn. In fact, it's the same horn as the C-D Pro-Beast, just re-branded.
I want to know your opinion on the center stand and air ride... I know it aint for everyone, but interested in knowing the actual working of them...legit or not?
Sounds like those SOBs took advantage of your buddy? Knowing he had money 💰, man i swear cant trust anyone now a days !!! Thanks for all the info brotha!!!!
I’d ask the owner if I can see the service records. If the bike is dealer serviced, call that dealer’s service dept. They’ll usually look the bike up and tell you about anything unusual.

Nice video , glad you did this video .
Thanks for making this video. I am going back and forth with what to buy next. Got an old road king and Indian Springfield in mind
Go for the INDIAN!
Sweet ride. I dig the engine guards, I'm still running stock on my 18 SGS. Safe travels.
Anytime I buy used I find all kinds of dumb things so I've been sticking with new because of that. Congrats on the new to you bike!
"This brake fluid is crystal clear, I can see it in the puddle on the floor"
That’s a nice bike. Nothing like being able to start off with a quality starting position.
Hey man. Quick random question. Iv been hearing mixed reviews on the Amazon fix for Apple CarPlay. Have you had any issues with yours at all yet?

Ty 4 the info it helps a lot.
Check the bottom of the frame for oil, especially on the M8.
awesome video as always PM great advice for those looking to buy a used bike 👍
@ProfessionalMonkey The tank dash is a Paul Yaffe Clean and Simple metal tank dash. I have the same one on my 2016 street glide

Hi!! Monkey; You deserve Ms. Monkey as much as she deserves you....You two make a great couple....
when doing a color swap have it changed on the registration. have a good trip
Great video! Lots of things i wouldn't have thought of! Jeez your wife is SMART!!!!! Lol
"I'm a delight" haha. You are talking about Mrs Monkey right? Love the channel, see you in Sturgis.

lOOK hard AT iNDIAN - i'VE TOLD MY BROTHER (AND FRIENDS NOT to even test-drive an Indian - they are GOING to WANT One!
That's a lindby magnumbar, those things are great
all great info fam!! Great share!!!
Stage V is all that you said, plus a 58mm throttle body and larger injectors, at least the tire shredder, stage V came with these.
Old school Tombstone tail light would look awesome at that rear end
I can’t help but notice the Marshall Amp stack in the background. You play? I’ve been learning to play guitar for about two years now. You should make a video of you playing something.
That's Monkey's stealth beer fridge that's disguised as an amp. He answered that question in a vid last year.
Ahh I see.
Well we all know she's super nice for letting you take the 131 that was supposed to be for her CVO and use it on your geezerglide.....
What comp did you have installed, stock?
The SE version.
That bike looks killer !
Thanks for the videos, has helped me out a lot. You keep putting out great information. Thanks again. Now off topic, is it just me or does anyone else see Dom Deluise?
Check the DOT date stamp on the tires
That horn is a wolo 519 I have the same. I believe
If you're looking at an HD 2000-2006 check the cam tensioners
Don’t color swap it. You need a Batman vibe bike.
That noise with the horn. I have a buddy that has an '03 rk. Put the same horn on but now it's laying on the side of the road somewhere. IT FELL OFF !!
I didn’t see the size of the tire, but the rim looks just like what I got on my 2019 road glide special. 🤔
Great video, thank you 👍👌
Good ideas to check also maybe past service records so you know the bike was token care of
I don't know about the FP3 but with the FP4 you can check and clear codes using the app as well.
That’s why I bought a new Indian Roadmaster with a full warranty. Then I left it alone. ( ok. Mostly ). All OEM.
Always happy to see a new video moma monkey would be sad in SC today we found out Starbucks is on strike till further notice

What kind of stereo system does that bike have?
You should pay her Commission lol
Where do you find that information on what that Google chart your talking about ? Be safe .
such a sick ass bike
Gonna be a good year for stergis. Major hotels have adds on fb. Lol
did the codes every come back?

I scrape my floor boards all the time, agreed, doesn't mean I want to buy a bike like that
That front wheel looks alot like an SMT FX9 wheel.
Damn big fella. What exactly do you do for a living! Throwing a whole lot of money at that bike
And funny. She cracks me up.
Does the previous owner or dealer have records on what part # the wheel is?
Great video
Hey monkey, I was wondering if you have made a video regarding your opinion on a comfortable seat for long rides?
Ugly. Ugly seats are good for distance. I think the stock Ultra seat is best, and if you don't want one of those - Mustang Super Tour.
@Professional Monkey thank ypu so much, greatly appreciate it. I've learnt alot of useful tips and tricks from you .Keep up the great content 👌
