    The only thing you need to add to your description is that people need to make sure that the side seams leave enough space in the middle to fit the wearer. I'm a US size 20, so I would stitch a little closer to the edges - someone who is size 10 could place the seams further from the edges.

    I've just made 2 of these for my mother. She is bigger than you, so I sew in about 5 inches instead, for the neck rather than fold in and sew, I use bias bind instead. Just discovered your channel and binge watching many of your videos. You're superb. I loved the contrast on the edges and will try this on the next Kaftan I make my mom. Thank you

      I am going to attempt to make one for my mother as well. She is an extremely large lady, so I need to be extremely careful with my measurements. Tank you for your amazing video. Best pattern yet!!

      Will do another tutorial for the same thing

    • @curious8890

      She had a 3 yd or 108" fabric that is 42-44" wide. If you fold the 108" in half to equal 54" you can see there will be a front 54" and a back 54". The width of the fabric, 42-44" is folded in half and equals 21"-22" wide. Now your fabric will appear to be 54" long and 21"-22" wide, everything has been doubled.
      If you are wider than her, aren't we all 🙂 ;-) , you won't be able to measure in the whole 8-10". Instead, Measure your hips plus ease, at least 2". For example if your hips are 40" add sitting ease of at lest 2" ease. Your wing effect will not be like hers because you only have about 2" of "wings" But you can buy wider fabric. Some fabric comes in 54-60". Then you can get that nice flowy look at the elbows etc.
      I hope this helps someone in the future 🙂

    Hi there! New subbie here, I just found your channel and I’m brand new to sewing. What do you mean by turn it to the right side before sewing? I’m sorry if that’s a stupid question 🙈

    • @MadeByDeola
      @MadeByDeola  3 дня назад +1

      Thanks for the sub! Generally when sewing, you sew the wrong sides together but for this style, before sewing the sides, turn it to the right side before sewing (as you would wear it). Hope this helps

    How did you sew the sides of the dress?

    • @MadeByDeola
      @MadeByDeola  Год назад

      Cut about 5-6 inches wide of fabric, fold in two and pin to the edge of the garment to sew. Watch this if unclear ruclips.net/video/m1XV6BeQCr0/видео.html
